My university has set out the structure: lit review, methodology, discussion and analysis, conclusion. What do I write in the discussion and analysis part? Is the discussion presenting the 'results' and the analysis critically analysing the results? Please help!
Thank you so much for sharing useful information. Could you please explain the differences between results and discussion sections in systematic review study? The are ideas are going to repeat in three sections: literature section, results, discussion and conclusion. Thanks
Firstly the conclusion chapter should summarise previous comments (made in discussion perhaps) - there should be no new material in the conclusion. a Results chapter is more often associated with the presentation of data collected as primary data. There may be no need for a results chapter. When using case studies (as might be used in the systematic review) it might be better to have a "comparison of case studies" chapter, rearranging the material (in the systematic review) ready for the discussion chapter.
Hi Andrew, if my work is a pilot study and there isn't really any similar literature out there, what should I write about? I was thinking maybe just focus more on my own personal interpretation and the usefulness of the results maybe? I'm not sure but I think my discussion section is going to be quite thin.
I do not know the details about your study. Perhaps after the pilot study there will be lots of discussion about recommendations. This newer blog may help. ablesim.com/dissertation-discussion-recommendations-and-limitations/
Hi Andrew, great video clip! After your great presentation, I am wondering how to define, choose or find a case study. I am somehow confused as to whether I can pick up a situation-institution-country and turn it into a case study or do I have to obtain a case study from a peer reviewed journal - book? I am currently researching about official development assistance to developing countries and thought of comparing to countries as my case studies. Would love to hear your thoughts. Cheers!
Thanks, you've just told me what I need to know in 4:39 minutes and I've been trying to get the same info from my lecturers for months....
