    I think the colour coding system that you developed is pretty smart for beginners who are struggling at writing discussions.

      Thanks so much! I found it really helpful for helping students see these patterns in their own work. Glad you like it!

    So detailed and actionable. Thank you so much. By the way, are there any discussions of social science studies that you can share? Thanks so much.

    • @butlerscicomm
      @butlerscicomm  ปีที่แล้ว

      I apologize, but my background is on hard science, and is all I study in this regard, so I don't have any resources specifically for social science nor do know any to recommend, especially like my breakdowns. That said, my workshop is regularly attended by social scientists who do find ways to adapt my teaching to their needs. Feel free to reach out with any specific questions:

    I also have a question: I am doing a qualitative study, and I used thematic analysis for my interview data. My question is should I apply this breakdown for each theme?

    • @butlerscicomm
      @butlerscicomm  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! I suspect yes, as you could ensure you cover the main points for each theme, but some adaptations of this breakdown are usually needed for fields outside of hard science.

    Thanks for this informative video.. May I just suggest you redo this tutorial WITHOUT using colours? I wish you to show the flow /flaws of the sample discussion in WORDS, instead. Thank you!

    • @butlerscicomm
      @butlerscicomm  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there, thanks for the kind words! My teaching style uses colors like I show here and works really well for almost all of my students, so I will likely continue to teach in the same style. If this doesn't work for you, I provide a DOI link to the paper so you can download the paper and follow along with my words. Good luck!

    Is this outline the same as in a discussion chapter in a thesis? Problem is a thesis might have 10 pages of discussion

    • @butlerscicomm
      @butlerscicomm  ปีที่แล้ว

      I made a short video answering this question for you - you can find it here: th-cam.com/users/shortsNLDYoLOLuiE
      Otherwise, if your thesis is structured such that there is a discussion for each individual chapter, then the discussion in each chapter will exactly follow the same outline as for the discussion of a reserach paper with a final chapter that only needs to provide a conclusion for the thesis as a whole.
      If your thesis is structured such that all of the discussion is in one chapter, it is anyways still common to break it down into individual sub-headings, and each sub-heading can also still follow the discussion outline with a final overall conclusion at the end.
      Hope that helps!
