Thank you for responding to my comment. So, what do I stand to benefit? I already like your presentations on research. I am very interested in becoming a season researcher. I wish I be. Thank you for making a time to reply my comment.
My master's deadline is in 5 days and ive been procrasting as I have no clue how to write a discussion - this honestly saved my dissertation - thank you so so much!!!
UPDATE; I got a notification that’s someone liked my initial comment, so that prompted me to give a little update. My dissertation result has been released, and I got a first! 80/100 to be precise. Honestly, my discussion chapter was one I dreaded the most as I had no clue what to write. Thanks to your video, I was able to have a clearer idea of what was required of me. My tutor/marker also gave great feedback on my discussion chapter. Again, thank you so so much! God bless you! 😊
Great content as usually. I've just finished the results chapter (thanks to your other video) and came back here to check your advice for the discussion chapter. Thanks you so much!
I got confused about how my discussion chapter was going and I got nervous. It made me come here. Clarified lots of confusion. It's the writers discretion on the structure of the chapter. Around a theory... was a valuable advise. Helping the reader/reviewer/examiner to appreciate and accept the statistical findings. The aim is to contribute to literature😃
I rarely drop comments on you tube videos but I can’t skip a comment on this video. This is the most detailed and easy to understand video on discussing your findings. I think I’m done with you tube videos on this chapter as this video answered all my questions. Thank you so much for making this video, I really appreciate. Off to write an outstanding discussion chapter💃💃 😁😁😁
Really insightful and of great use! 🔮 Crystal-clear explanations and your voice is so encouraging😊 With you everything is easier in the field of research! Thank you very much, indeed❤for sharing your knowledge and expertise.
@@qualitativeresearcher sorry for coming back to you. One more question, sir. Are excerpts of interview transcript ideally in Result(finding) or in Discussion?
Fantastic video. The information that you shared answered so many of my questions. Bonus that I am using Grounded Theory and that you mentioned that specifically as an example. Thank you!
Your videos have really helped me. The books are far too detailed, and I get lost in the weeds. I'm an abstract thinker and you have chunked up so much detail and made it accessible and understandable.
Greetings from my end, I am grateful for coming across this material. I am finding it very difficult to write this section of my dessertation. I kindly request you help out.
@@qualitativeresearcher As a Sri Lankan I am struggling a lot to do my research in every way. and here we do not have good libraries, I read downloaded e books and research papers with the help of other students who study at the foreign universities. I am watching all your video lessons and I learned a lot... and it is very effective for a person like me. I am going forward to doing a PhD by learning the research method from you and your recommended books. It's really helpful for a person like me who goes on this journey without a grant, electricity, fuel (Sadly our supervisors do not explain this much easily) and all the other issues that happen in my country. I am very thank full for you.
This was useful. Thank you. Question: What if you have an intepretation that is not part of the literature review but is consistent with another study or is not found in previous studies?
if it is not something previously found, discuss it :) If it was, mention the study. If it was not part of the original lit review but you now found that it is consistent with an existing study, you need to go and add this study to the lit review chapter before referring to it in the discussion chapter
Hi, Dr. Kriukow thank you for this wonderful presentation, it is very insightful. will it be acceptable to discuss the questions one by one in the discussion chapter or compress them into one heading and discuss them together?
Either of these would be accepted - the discussion chapter is so flexible, you can do just about anything if you can justify your approach, so you can definitely either go through each RQ, or each theme and discuss it, or you can have some new general heading(s), almost like having an overarching theme for the findings you presented in the results chapter, and then discuss them in this chapter
Wonderful video! Thank you so much for all the explanations on how to structure the discussion chapters. But as you said, this is not a comprehensive video, if you have time, could you please make a comprehensive video one day in the future? Thank you very much!
at least some relevant research must have been done, even if it is not directly obvious how relevant it is. If, for example, I am exploring Spanish students' experiences in a UK university and this has not been done before, I can talk about similarities/differences between this and research into Chinese students' experiences, etc. There must be Some literature that you are discussing in the literature review chapter surely
Hi Dr Kriukow, thank you for this useful video! I was wondering what if my study generated similar findings to my background literature, but also generated new findings, do I discuss both of the similar findings and the new findings in depth when I have a limited word count? Thanks a lot!
Thank you so much for this informative video. I have one question as I struggle to write my discussion. In my thesis we found errors due to visual differences of what was measured .. I have given this interpretation to explain my results ,, but now I thought it could also be a limitation to the study , is it possible to repeat the same thing again when talking about the limitations ? Or is it a repetition?
I'd usually put that in the conclusions chapter, but this depends on the university guidelines. Some also put this in the implications sections, which, in turn, some universities advise to put in the Discussion, so this all depends! :)

How to relate or compare previous literature in a discussion section when prior research was not done on the title or topic?
at least some relevant research must have been done, even if it is not directly obvious how relevant it is. Yes I would discuss both, but since your word limit is small, I would emphasize the new findings more

I think you can, although I lack the exact context so I cannot say for sure
For example, if our research question is about studying the difficulties, can we summarise them in a table in the discussion section?
Yes, you can summarize the main findings prior to discussing them. Of course you will have presented them properly in the results chapter first
@@qualitativeresearcher thank you for your reply.
how would i discuss future directions in the research?
I'd usually put that in the conclusions chapter, but this depends on the university guidelines. Some also put this in the implications sections, which, in turn, some universities advise to put in the Discussion, so this all depends! :)
