  • This recording is a rare preserved example of the state of control-room chatter during the live recording of a music concert. Recorded during a December 20, 1974 performance by Jerry Jeff Walker (1942-2020) at McFarland Auditorium in Dallas TX, the recording is of the four camera monitors of the TV crew's camera setups (1, 2, 3, and 4 as the director calls them). With the sound of the concert playing in the background, we hear the unique rhythmic shouting of the director as he encourages, cajoles, clarifies, and keeps on top of the performance to ensure the right angles are available of the concert.
The resulting chosen shots are not in this version of the tape, but can be inferred by watching which camera is holding before being told to go to a different angle. The coverage shot (number 3) is of the entire stage and is generally kept wide to snap back to as needed.
Recovered from the estate of musician and producer Mark Pines, it is extremely rare to have any behind-the-scenes operations chatter of professionally-recorded events from this time period. It stands as a historical period piece of the language and techniques of the unnamed director.

@jasonscott526 PLEASE upload the music track to this portion of the concert. It is the only section that does not have the music track to go along with the director audio! Would appreciate it SO much😄😄😄
