    A couple desert RV'ing suggestions. First, get a Desert Water Bag. It's made of burlap with a big rope on top of it. Hang it in front of the radiator and it will constantly drip. In the low humidity of the desert, adiabatic cooling, just like in a swamp cooler, lowers the water temp in the bag, so the radiator is always getting a spray of cool water. Worked great for a cold glass of water back in the days when all we had was ice chests. Just fill it up every couple hours. It's a good excuse to take a break anyway. No more hot Eddie worries climbing grades. My MG had a terrible cooling syetem, and the water bag saved my bacon a couple times.
    Second, you already have a standby generator, right? Get a load transfer switch installed. You can flip a switch before you go out. If you lose utility power when you're gone, the transfer switch will automatically turn on the generator, and it will turn it off when power is restored. Not cheap, but no more hot cat worries.
    Third, you can always just rent a car when you get to a campsite where you're going to be staying fro a couple days. Local car rental places, especially car dealerships, tend to be a lot cheaper than the big names, and sometimes you get an almost new car to use. A small car makes it a lot easier to get around town, you don't have to break camp, and it gives Eddie a rest without limiting your ability to explore when it's too far (or too hot) to use the bike. You can stop at Walmart and stock up while you're out, and a car is a lot easier to find space for than Eddie.

    More beautiful scenery and beautiful clouds. Arrghh....Eddie thanks you for not using 200. Just an awful road with some killer grades. Always get gas when your down below three quarters and driving the wilderness of states like Montana. Saves a lot of nervousness. I remember when there was no daytime speed limit in Montana and Wyoming. I used to open the MGB up to 95-100 mph when I just needed to make time. Nighttime limit was something like 60 though, and the troopers really used to enforce that one.

      I didn't like what I drove of MT200 and wanted nothing to do with it again!! lol I remember those days too and you are right - go easy at night!!

    You shoulda come to colorado. Its been pretty mild this year. Our high temps during that heatwave in the NW was 65-75 degrees for like 2 weeks.

    I lived in Butte, Missoula and Anaconda from 88-98. June through most of July is a massive mosquito hatch. Best weather time is September.

    beautiful drive indeed, we drove from Reno to Glacier NP in 2016. We always travel in spring and fall,mostly to avoid crowds, summer is to hot and smoky too.

    Seeing this beautiful scenery makes me consider buying additional cameras (older gen GoPros maybe, to save money) to shoot out the side winsows for passing scenery edits. I don't know how crazy I want to get with the shooting though in what is ostensibly a vacation. My navigation is completely the opposite of yours, I plan out the major movements on a map first, and then only use GPS if there are detours or I'm close to destination where a lot of turns are required. I wonder if cats are susceptible to altitude sickness... 23:33 Happens to me a lot more often. I am a retired Sailor.

    • @WanderDano
      @WanderDano  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      NOT ME!!!! All the work to get a video posted from one gopro is more than enough!! lol (sorta lol) GPS is the lazy way I've embraced too much. lol

    dude. you really should wear a lapel mic as you are driving cause i am constantly turning up the volume as i can barely hear you, and turning down the volume when you edit in the voice over as it is really loud. it`s driving me crazy!

    • @WanderDano
      @WanderDano  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      two quick points. I am using a lapel mic - except the end of the 2nd video because I filled up an entire card. Second - I do the best I can to post free videos for people to watch, which takes hours to complete and then sit and upload. I try to do this for fun not looking to make money - not that many people will even watch. The last thing I want to do is make some feel driven crazy when I'm trying to share this stuff - I'll understand if it gets you to the point where you don't want to watch.

    If you are still in Warshington, don't head this way. We have smoke and probably will have smoke for a couple more months. Cough cough cough. That's up near the Canadian boundary on the eastside of the mountains. Cough cough.

      I think about it but I still feel good about it. Big mountains and older van should make anyone wonder. lol No way I could or would pay the prices for new or near-new. lol
