If you complete a mile in under 10 minutes you classed as running. If you complete a mile in over 10 minutes you classed as jogging. I hope this answer helps you figure out if you are a jogger or a runner
@@skylongskylong1982 I can finish a parkrun under 20 mins, marathon under 3:20, while my recovery run is at 6:30 per K even 7:00 at times depending on the terrain. That's well over 10 mins per mile. Jogging is running. No different at all. Running can be at very slow paces too.
You can't run without getting tired is the real answer. It's exercise and expends energy. But you can train your body and energy system to get better at it. But here's the kicker... you will still get tired because you will just run faster. 😂
These are all great tips, thanks! In case if confuses anyone, I think the text overlay at 4:17 is saying the opposite of the spoken advice. There is a greater-than angle bracket rather than a less-than. Thanks for an otherwise great video, and for everything you do!
Problem I have, since Covid in September, my heart rate at and easy effort which feels effortless averages 160bpm. Today my 16 mile long run at 7.30 per mile which is my comfortable pace I averaged 170 and max 202! Looking back at data before Covid, 18 miles mixed light run averaging 7 min per mile, average HR 145, max 160.. However I feel great, I don’t feel like my HR is high. Autonomic nervous system out of whack
Back into running again after ten years of neglecting my legs, Running is starting to become fun again!, My legs are becoming functional again. In the months of patiently building up my legs could not maintain an acceptlable running form, I immediately started walking for a couple of minutes, shortening the intervals, I allso did a lot of drills leading up to sprinting, which, how modest my level may be, is great fun. Back on topic, I think my love for going "fast on the fore feet"" has contributed to my not getting tired anymore on the easy parts, I have the feeling that the sprinting has contributed to making the long runs easier as if it makes my legs satronger and that way I can easier maintain a good running form which is less tiring so that I can maintain a good running form. For the rest I just love it.
Its amazing how you guys can keep producing content, you have an endless supply of ideas and its feel good entertainment and education that I get to enjoy very regularly. Thank you and keep upnthe good work! I would love to see a video series with a strava follow on of you guys testing the zone 2 training method while removing as many variables as possible.
@runningchannel Hey, yes I am working towards something, maybe a bit too ambitious but I have booked an ultra in Snowdonia with xterra (utmb sold out 😟) in July and I have a marathon or half marathon booked every month up to that point. 😀
I enjoy watching your videos. Good work. But could you make a video for senior runners. I'm 61 now and enjoy my runs but sometimes you are a bit to quick for me😁.
I too mismatch color my running shoes. They’re the same brand and model so my gait doesn’t get messed up. I run trails mainly, I have the Inov8 trailfly g270 v2.
There's a guy called Tom Bosworth who amazingly can walk 1 mile in 5:31.08 5k in 18:20.20 10k in 39:10 20k in 1:19.38 Quicker than most people can run those distances 😮😮
Breathing is my biggest issue! I have a deviated septum (even after 2 rhinoplastys), so I can’t draw air efficiently through my nose. The term “conversation pace” always makes me laugh, because, as I have to mouth breath, I can’t even hold a conversation while walking…
The one instruction I've seen debated is arms crossing your body, coming up to your face. You say it has the possibility of slouching, while others say it allows your torso to rotate with you as you run.
Agreed. Virtually all top runners have their arms moving in front of their chest, not by their sides. Arms by your sides is an old cliche that has been debunked by most technique experts
Hi l love your works out, it would be great if you can do a video on how to pace for half marathon. I keep my target pace for 1-9 miles but always start falling behind my target pace between 10-13 miles and really get tired the last 3 mile. So tips to focus on back end of the HM race would be great!
I am really struggling with the very dark and cold weather. Hopefully things brighten up soon. I still do a couple runs in the weekend because I can do them in daytime but can’t wait for longer days as I hate the treadmill
I find breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth almost impossible! I know it's supposed to be the most efficient method but I'm pretty quickly resorting to mouth only - especially if the pace creeps up.🤔
Interesting, with me it's the opposite. My body gets exhausted after short runs, but can walk endlessly. I wanna do both with good endurance, it's annoying to feel like having asthma when running... I'm having that problem for two years now, before, it wasn't any problem.
Stretching don't prevent muscle soreness. If you like it, do it but don't force yourself to do it if it's pain in the ass for you. It will, most likely, dont do anything for you
Everyone has different personal experiences, but there have been multiple academic systematic review studies published that conclude there is no evidence of positive effects in terms of DOMS or performance benefits
@@mikewarrentube there has been studies concluding it promotes injury prevention which equates better performance. We constantly injure our muscle fibres under excessive load.
I always have been 1st from the last in my school races and never run since for 15 years. I started about 5 months ago and I see people of running channels going for 1 hour steady-easy runs of 14-15 kms. I run 8kms max in an hour in easy runs, basically less work done in similar time and it is frustrating lol.
Yes but those people have been training for years, they are not begginers. Compare only to yourself. If it makes you feel better I am also begginer, started training about two months ago, I want to participate in a 5k. Yesterday in 30 minutes I ran 3k 😅 So see, there are people even slower than you. 😂
How the fuck are they running a 6 minute K pace with a barely three digit heart rate. My resting heart rate is in the low 50’s but if I run a 6 minute K pace my heart rate settles in the 140-150 range.
Because he wasn't. The reality of making a video is very different from normal running. It is prety much they were setting up the shot for a few minnutes and testing and looking at the results while doing so. So he was running for a few seconds at that pace. Thats why it jumped from almost 7min to below 6.

Adding full core exercises to my strength training routine has helped my breathing tremendously.
Like planks n stuff?
For running in time to music I recommend drum and bass, at 175-180 bpm it's an excellent match for a good running cadence

Those Pumas are sold like that as a pair

Try inhaling through the mouth and out through the nose.
Do you feel like your lips and mouth dry out quick from that and then your mind feels like you are dehydrated?
I've heard it's a highly varied thing. Some people just can't breathe well through their noses due to individual anatomy.
I struggle bad with this to I sound like a French bulldog 😂😂😂
It's ok to breath through the mouth.
Warm down. 😊
What running vest was in the video?
5:30 pace at 99 bpm?! Hot dog!
Love that running tune - duu duuu duhhhh du duuu ❤️
Good video! I love your matching shirt. You should sell them! I would buy the green one Sarah has
I keep on running, I didn’t get tired at all
Base and tempo runs are my favourite! If my ITB holds up, that is! =D
Incorporate a Park Run in a long run then you get cheered along for your long run, it's great!

I’m the same, I hate walking, I fatigue very quickly, my feet hurt, but I can run an hour no problem.
hold on, aren't dynamic stretches dubious for warming up? There are arguments for and against dynamic stretching before a strenous exercise.
The research we have read suggests that dynamic stretches are beneficial before strenuous exercise and static stretches can be detrimental

You'll always be tired and in pain. The difference over time is you'll just run faster.
My buddy and I are still trying to figure out what scooping the chicken thing is even supposed to do.
Hamstring dynamic stretch. If you do it right it's a nice pull you feel there
