COOLTOY love your videos. I purchased 2 Tron flight sticks. Do you know how to connect 2 sticks to 5v power for the leds? Any help would be appreciated.
Cooltoy, thanks for another great video! Several pointers for those who are installing the GRS Tron Joystick into their AtGames Legend Ultimate Arcade. First, after fully inserting the Tron Joystick into the Joystick body, you will need to compress or push the locking retainer/spring below the joystick's locking pins and then rotate the retainer until the pins align with the locking pin grooves on the retainer/spring assembly. Cooltoy's video at 7:54 shows the alignment. If you don't do this, the joystick will be loose and can be easily pulled out during play. Next, when installing the wire harness provided in the upgrade kit, the blue & white spade (male) connectors may loosely fit when pushed into the B-Button female quick connectors. If loose, pull out the spade connector(s) and using a small pliers, GENTLY squeeze the top and bottom sides of the B-Button female quick connectors. Do not squeeze the sides of the quick connectors. Check the fit and make adjustments until the connection is tight. After installing the wire harness, you may wish to use small 4" cable ties to organize or bundle the wire harness, to make the wiring less scattered. If you do use cable ties, be sure to clip the excess cable tie, that protrudes after the locking clip or mechanism. Finally, I installed the GRS Tron joystick on the right hand player side (Player 2) of my ALU unit. Using the latest ALU firmware update (4.6.0 and later), you can swap the player 1 and player 2 controls using the Control Mirroring function in the settings menu (hat tip to Glen of GRS). The player control swap is retained at the next power up of the ALU. The installation of the Tron joystick on the right hand side is identical to the left hand side, except you are using the right hand side B-Button. Having the Tron joystick on the right hand side is awesome! I hope this helps! Cooltoy, thanks again!
The included screws only work with the SAMs club version of the cabinet. The Walmart and AtGames direct cabinets need #10-32 x 3/8" screws. Easy enough to come by, but frustrating to find out after you've got everything apart.
Love this! The only thing other thing needed is,to be able to swap or, map the buttons from player 1 to player two,for those who want to use the flight stick with their right hand. It's not going to hinder me from buying this, though!
subversive1219 you can install the stick in the player 2 spot and reroute the joystick wiring from player 1 to the Tron joystick and get the right handed player 1 gameplay experience
Cool! First thing I noticed was the stick is on the wrong side lol. I know you can move it to the right, but why is it every retro setup has all the buttons to the right of the joystick? I can't find any off the shelf setup with left side buttons. Many of my favorite games had buttons on the left of the joystick. I would always hold it in my right hand if possible. Cyberall is so difficult when the joystick is in my left hand. Thankfully I can add a button.
Just got mine installed and working. I have a problem with 2 of my screws. I will have to go to my local hardware and get some that are just a bit longer. The ones that came with the kit are just a thread or two shy. I also had a little bit of head scratching on how to get the stick installed. Finally figured it out that I had to push down the collar and rotate it. in you video you mention that you can push down and swap it out. If yours does that can you show a video of that? It would be nice if there was a dimmer of some kind on the wiring. Easy enough to make one, which I will eventually. One other slight issue with the size of the controller is that it might get in the way of some HDMI or Blast dongles. I have used some angle and bendable adapters. With those slight issues Im happy with it and it works great. Great addon for a super great cabinet!!!!
Wagner's TechTalk yes he does! I can’t wait to check out hit star wars flight yoke that he’s currently got on Kickstarter. I’m sure it’s going to be great quality just like his other products
@@cooltoy Ditto here my friend! Hoping I'll be able to create a 3D Printed control panel for the Star Wars flight yoke like what was done for all his existing products (Examples: wagnerstechtalk.com/grs/ ). Not sure if it can be done, but will be fun to try.
If you mount thiS on the second player, can you flip controls for player one for specific games to the two player? Would like to not have to remove the joystick over and over and just leave it on player two for games like you showed. Would hope you can setup controller profiLes by game and save them in this manner.Thanks.
I LOVE the hardware and the features, but yeah, it's the swapping procedure due to the wiring that has me shying away. Also, would pay extra for a bat topped standard stick, then I could take care of two issues. Key thing for me is being able to change the controller parameters without having to open up the gaming deck each time.
The only downside to this amazing upgrade, is the need to open the panel and remove / reconnect the wires again each time. of course you could have it non illuminated, but the B button still needs hooking into the loom.
Pretty cool dude but I don't think I'm gonna do this. Honestly I can't wait to get mine in. Got the ball for centipede bowling etc. . spinner for tempest, etc, and joystick for everything else. One day I'd love At games to release cabinets with differnent controls. Flight stick for TRON, After Burner, etc. . Wheel for racing games. .
I hope we get a good performing easy switch 4 way to 8 way joystick. I have yet to see one without a motor that works good. if you know of one please share.
The fact that you have to unclip the wires defeats the simplicity of being able to swap out the controls. You still have to open it up to swap it. Also it irks me that the swapped joystick doesn't match thd Legends Ultimate ones.
I'd be all over it if it was easier to swap the sticks. It's just too much of a hassle the way it is. You'd think having a shaft with a connector that is built into the top would make the most sense. That way you could easily swap between the Tron stick that slides over the shaft and utilizes the connectors with a ball or bat top that doesn't utilize the connectors.
Ok so I guess I have an updated model. The screws supplied for attaching the new joystick base are too thin. I’m guessing that the length is OK but the replacement screws are definitely too small for the original screw holes
Awesome video and great install demo. Is anyone having problems with the spinner not working anymore with tron? How could add more Happ buttons to the base so I can play the six button arcade games? Thanks for the great review!!
Thinking about getting this.... do you have to remove the player 1 joystick? Or can you remove the player 2 but use it as a 1 player game mode? basically does this render playing all other games impossible or can I still enjoy other non flight stick coin ops games
FYI: The B button quick connect is very hard to remove. You have to really wiggle it or even use a flat. If you do plan to hot swap the joystick and Tron joystick often, you have to leave the bottom cover open at all time or make a peelable half bottom cover. How do you config tron to work with spinner?
