I built the large Revell Cutty Sark with "39 billowing sails" which took me some 18 months, many years ago, involving much detailed painting and lots of rigging. Your RC Titanic build, including the LED work is fascinating and entertaining. Hope you have a glass case to protect the finished model. My Cutty Sark is in tatters after years of " mishandling accidents" and gathering of dust. Always wished I had built a wooden version. I build and fly electric powered scale model airplanes nowadays at age 83.
Awesome work I been watching since video 1 an I can't wait to start my build I'm glad u are doing OK i got worried it's had been a minute since I seen you post 😀 glad to see her coming together can't wait for another update video God bless you an stay safe u number 1 fan from USA In southern Georgia 😊
I definitely know that I would never have the patience to tackle a model with this magnitude of detail. I am thoroughly enjoying watching you build this model, knowing full well I would never be able to duplicate something this wonderful. Thanks for sharing this experience with us.
LED's have done so many wonders for models! Just so awesome how these tiny LED's can effectively fit in the exact same scale as the original lights. Living in the future is cool.
When I did my minicraft 1:350 I decided on "Model Master #2137 British Gulf Armor Light Stone" for the funnels which I got from the TRMA. It's a great "non-peachy" buff. PS love your work!
I just bought the kit and the KA Upgrade kit has yet to arrive, but I am SO looking forward to starting my build. I have seen all parts of your build and am utterly awed by the level of detail and the accuracy you have achieved. "Well done!" doesn't come close…
I used Tamiya Light Sand spray on the funnels of a 1:400 kit, which I liked far more than the flat flesh spray. You can see how the wood tan color looks in this video: m.th-cam.com/video/SPBFmuLgC1I/w-d-xo.html
I noticed you've glued components onto paint, if a part is going to lift, it'll be in those areas. Don't get me wrong; beautiful work, and it looks great!
Have you tried a ‘Flash’ removal tool? I only recently discovered these and though it looked rubbish until I used it. They are significantly more versatile than you might think, especially for those herd to reach places. 🤔👍
I don't have anywhere near the knowledge that a lot of you folk do when it comes to details of the Titanic, but from following the Titanic Hope and Glory project, I was certain I had read that this had happened as well, that a chip of paint had been recovered and matched for the funnels.
@@bobbyrayofthefamilysmith24 Not from Titanic why would they get a paint chip from there? Also there might have been a paint mix list in the Harland and Wolff shipyard archive that tells the mix ratios.
It is safe to say I could never successfully achieve what you have. I thoroughly enjoy your videos and all of your insight into modelling techniques and problem solving. The closest I can achieve is the non stop tweaking and rebuilds of my Lego Titanic...a very expensive and impressive Lego offering that just frankly has so much wrong with it. My wife has even taken to calling me "Mr. Andrews" because I'm always reworking things and trying to make it better. Anyway, I just happened to finish reworking the base of the fourth funnel and smoking room roof...amazing timing when I saw that this video was just posted! :)
I am curious about the window arrangement shown on the deck house plan shown at the 21:15 minute mark. The plans only show 9 windows not 10 as molded into the model. Which is it? Is the arrangement of the two windows around the door on the port side correct on the model, or just one window forward of the door and no window aft of the door area? You do mention lighting three windows, but the model has four in the area you were pointing to.
Aaaaah yes now you are correct here, something I twigged too (although admittedly not when making the part. I’m going some research into this because the plans on Encyclopaedia Titanica show the window not being there. But the blueprints tend to be Olympic and I know there are some subtle differences between the two. Ultimately not a hard fix, just slap a bit of paint over the window! If I find out definitively I’ll let you know, if you do could you let me know 😛
@@TheModelBoatGuy I found an interesting issue with the Pontos instruction regarding this window. On the last page of the Pontos instructions the picture shows a good look at the deck house under the 4th funnel. The picture shows only one window next to the door instead of two. So the Pontos instructions support the idea that there is only one widow at the port side of the 4th funnel deck house as well. Additionally, the deck plans I got from encyclopedia titanica also show only one widow like your deck plans do. And they are suppose to be of the Titanic.
Great job Robbie, I like the frosted windows. I have some frosted plastic sheet which will be ideal for the purpose! I agree on the funnel colour, perhaps something more like the old P&O buff might be a bit closure, perhaps a tad darker? As with many photographs taken, it all depends on the light, time of day etc which can completely change the apparent colour! Regards JH 😉
Thanks John, Yep I have now bought a few other colours so we will see how we go. I’ve just had a look at old P&O buff and certainly that sort of thing. More testing required! Of course the other issue is apparently white star buff changed subtly over the course of the century, so your Olympic might need a slightly different colour to mine. All fun and games anyway, Keep well, Robbie
Hi there, I can’t remember for certain, but essentially this was just thin plastic sheet. Any clear 1mm plastic sheet will do just fine here. Sorry I know that’s not hugely helpful!
Just arrived at this video after a good long binge. First of all amazing work! The model is top but you’re also a very relaxing narrator to listen to. One quick heads-up however, currently a video from the Telegraph has made its way into the Titanic playlist between the FAQ and this video not sure if that was intentional - just thought I’d let you know :)
Hi, have been watching your channel for a while, and I congratulate you for the fine detail work done on your Titanic. By any chance have you watched the Titanic Honor and Glory. Especially the interior stuff!
@@TheModelBoatGuy I saw someone else do similar work and found a cool method to recharge the batteries, and also did the interior of the first class entry doors. Pretty cool work done there! Are you going to do something similar?
Ooooooooh I like that technique a lot! Good find, thank you for sharing it with me. I’ll see if I can use that on some of the windows on the boat deck 🙂

when do u think are u gonna complete this?
That’s cool bro, subscribes done
Good stuff Robbie . A bit of liquid electric Tape paint over that LED might solve that LED problem .
I noticed you've glued components onto paint, if a part is going to lift, it'll be in those areas. Don't get me wrong; beautiful work, and it looks great!
Yes you are correct, most of the stuff glued onto paint isn’t structural though so should be ok. Fingers crossed!

There is a company that sells a paint that is very close to the original White Star buff. I think they used a paint chip and matched the color.
no such thing exists
