- Welcome back to the 888MF TH-cam channel. In this drag race we put my tuned Alfa 4C producing 280bhp up against the 2019 Audi RS3. The Audi has 4WD, the Alfa is lighter. Who do you think will win??

As Colin Chapman said "to go faster, add lightness". That 4C is an amazing bit of engineering
The light weight of the Alfa makes it a lot of fun to drive.

He nicked that from Geoffrey de Havilland who gave us the Mosquito ww2 fighter and first jet airliner the Comet
I was at my friend’s Alfa breaker’s yard and he showed me the 4C tub he had to cut up. It’s thick and to cut the tub you need carbide saw blades or it will just eat up the regular steel blades.

Hilarious that they didn't even launch it in Alfa Race mode, Dynamic mode shifts earlier than red line and shifts 25% slower than Race mode.

RS3 usually has brutal launches, but I believe Audi have wound these back in 2019 cars (same with TTRS 😔).

I have the Alfaworks tune and it's awesome. Doesn't pull timing in third and fourth gear like factory. Car feels heaps more responsive.

The launch control on the 4C is so easy to use, and its light weight helps it get off the line quickly

Only one issue.... You weren't actually operating the 4C in the official "Launch Mode". We have nicknamed what you did as the "half launch" as it is limited to 3500 rpm. To get to full launch mode, you need to be in R (Race) mode, plant the brake and throttle, when the tach locks in at 3,500 flick the left "-" shift paddle once and it will go to 6000rpm. Immediately release the brake but do not lift on the throttle. That's the launch which will auto shift. If you lift even a tad, it won't auto shift. Now having said this, I haven't actually ever done it (no safe location like a runway). You might get a fair bit of wheel spin, so the "half launch" might actually be faster with your Tuned car.
The half launch is better as less wheel spin.
Half launch in dynamic will shift for you too

@Traprap Eskere hai ragione ma ci sono in ballo anche quasi1000cc e 100cv, finalmente le Alfiat si sono allegerite, se pensi che, a parer mio , la 159 che aveva una linea bellissima , pesava un tonfo,qui c'é una inversione di tendenza, meno cv e meno peso, vedi solo Giulia che con 510 cv é più performante di auto con una cavalleria superiore, sarà per il peso,il telaio e una gran quantità di cabronio.....e qui si parla di un 2.9 cc , che se la gioca con cilindrate di gran lunga superiori.
@Traprap Eskere hai anche ragione ma le macchine se le "imbrocchi" male sei finito, e di qualsiasi marca, io l'unica macchina nuova che ho comprato é stata una Opel Astra G, 1.7 TD, un cesso incredibile, mio fratello stessa macchina station e anche lui solo problemi, buttate via tutte e 2 con 110000km circa, dopo ho avuto una 156 jtd 140 cv , e mai grossi problemi (tolto i soliti di braccetti all'avantreno) Venduta con 240000km solo causa restrizioni euro3.Comunque mi ha fatto piacere dibattere da persone civili, vedi anche se 2 persone hanno idee diverse non é obbligatorio insultarsi. Grazie per da dicussione 👍

BUT.... and its a big but, I've got a GT3 Touring for Track work... and it would run 4 giant anus looking rings around your beloved 4C-heese Tony and Guy edition... RS3 is my in town car, when I need to park in a tight spot... RS4 is family wagon... GT3 is for destroying hairdressers in their Quattro-Fromaggis/4C-heeses at the track

Face-lift rs3 is poor. The petrol filter ruined it. The 67/18 plates are killers

Any chance you can compare it to your Boxster (not just speed)? Ignoring the fact that your Alfa is a Coupe & of course the roof can't come down.
The Boxster Spyder is a manual and won't keep up with the Alfa. But they are so different to drive. Both a lot of fun.
Do the European 4c have the second higher launch? We can get a near 6,000 rpm if you pull the paddle a second time in race mode. That is how Mags got 0-60 in 4.1 instead of the claimed 4.5 despite our extra weight.

This is news to me as a 4c owner. How does it work exactly?
JoTokutora put the car into race mode using the DNA selector. Hold down the brake pedal, then hold down the accelerator it’ll rev to 3500rpm. Now press the downshift and it’ll rev to 6500rpm. Take your foot off the brake and it’ll launch

What shop did you buy your ECU from? Do you think it's worth the upgrade for daily everyday spirited driving around town or will it only really be noticeable on dragstrips and the track?
A few guys on the 4C forums claim the ECU upgrade also made the shifting smoother somehow.
Id like to see how the 4C compares to the Giulia QV and throw in a Stelvio QV into the mix and have em dragging together in dry weather.

I have the 1750 gulietta cloverleaf engine surely I can get the same tuninge you have? Can I get it done in the UK?
If you have the first gen with iron block (2011-2014 I think) you can squeeze about 320 HP with a bigger Turbo and good tune, little less with the newer all alu engine, about 280-300

Awesome Race! The name is Sibusiso from South Africa. I was under the impression that the RS3 was gonna win especially considering that it has more power and it’s all wheel drive. This video has convinced me to buy the 4C while I wait for Giulia QV. Might I suggest you race your 4C against its big brother the Giulia Quadrofolio. Would love to see the outcome. And while your at maybe the Giulia Quadrofolio against the Audi RS4! Now that I would even pay to see!!!

Not a surprising result, The RS3 would need to be making 450hp+ to bring the power to weight ratio to a similar level ( including driver) A good video overall though

What tune are you using? The Pogea, or Eurocom? Just software tune, or any other modifications?
I'm impressed. Would love to have the Alfa as a weekend car and the rs3 as my daily. I would have thought the rs3 would win the dig and lose the roll race. The opposite occurred.
Everyone in the comments seem to be absolutely thrilled that the tuned car won. Give the factory stock car a small tune as well and see what happens...
The best recorded quarter mile times for both these cars when stock: 12.5 s for the Alfa and 11.7 s for the Audi.
It would have been interesting to see the times for these cars. With a sizable car channel as this, you should definitely invest $150 in a Dragy! 👍

Why are you running in Dynamic mode on the 4C? You are giving up some performance and shift points are more performance oriented in Race mode on the 4C.
It has less wheel spin in Dynamic mode
@@888mf4 You don't have to launch at 6000rpm in Race....you can select any rpm by backing off on throttle. You do have to manual shift though unless you launch at 6k. You should also notice a bit difference in power output in R mode compared to D mode also depending on the ECU you are running.
Wheel spin isn't an issue for a rolling start as in the second part of your test....and R mode would have performance advantaes over D mode for that type of test.
4C has an amazing 8.04 official lap time at nurburgring without any update, production performance. Imagine what can achieve with some update.
I think the opf has ruined the rs3, seems a lot slower and doesn’t launch properly. Go against a rs3 2017 and I’ll bet it’ll be a lot closer. The Alfa is a great car and launches superbly for a rwd car, the lightness defo helps
Absolute rubbish, you don’t have a clue what you are talking about. The opf filter has destroyed the rs3. I have a 2017 saloon which does 3.6 to 3.7 all day long. However with this 2019 opf car Carwow managed only 4.2 to 62 ......even the pre facelift 2017 8v did it in 3.9.
The fact that the RS3 won the rolling race but lost the dig race shows something is seriously wrong. From a dig is where it's supposed to have the advantage

Very cool video but I am surprised by the outcome. It could be perspective but my RS3 seems to launch a lot more aggressively than the RS3 in this video (even without a map) - I want to say the results would have been different but of course I am slight biased! Nonetheless the 4Cs are cool little cars!
This is perhaps a new RS3 with the disgusting OPF-filter that seriously slows it down, especially in the start? 2017 and 2018 RS3 does 0-60 in 3.6 or so, while the new one does it in around 4.1.

Tuned vs Stock? Try it verse a tuned RS3, you wont see which direction it went... 500bhp instantly and sub 3 to 60mph.

@@mexistratman1 Thats a silly comment mate, the 4C is a track special... with 2 seats... the RS3 is a family hatch back that can take 4-5 people and luggage... Most RS3s will never see the inside of a racetrack... theyre daily drivers... I can assure you one thing though, on a winding back road, or b-roads, where the driver has no breaking markers and compromised road quality... the 4C will more than likely not keep up.

@@mexistratman1 Mate, what utter rubbish... Firstly, one needs to consider, price, weight and ease of tunability... A 4C already costs more than an RS3, meaning youd expect more performance ... and it weighs 500kg less... so the actual power to weight is really similar... outright power is irrelevant if the denominator moves commensurate to that lol... so the Audi weighs 50% more and has 50-60% more power and its cheaper... So stock vs stock is pretty fair, as the Audi has awd which saps more power to the wheels...
Furthermore, re your illusory "tuning a 4C to 700bhp" arguement... Im pretty sure without major hardware changes and rebuild... its as possible as you inhabiting Uranus in the near future... impossible... even then, with say a $30k rebuild, it will probably still blow up at that kind of power... A simple $1k flash tune to the RS3 yields 500bhp+ ... a stage 2 with exhaust, cooler etc is 600bhp... and runs in the 10s (or under) for a quarter mile... it eats R8s for breakfast, let alone hairdresser cars moonlighting as track ready racers. th-cam.com/video/AR6mtCQVBhk/w-d-xo.html

Do you know when it's too cold to have the roof off and the windows down in the 4C you get a haunting turbo whistle and once you notice it you can not get enough mine has also been remapped to 280 bhp

@stoa scheissakoarl i own a 2010 Audi A6 3.0 240 hp with almost 400k km.... 0 problems. With her I have a 2018 Q5 with 110k km done in 1 year, no problems.
