Sony A7RIII + Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Test Footage

- - I finally decided to get a mirrorless camera, last month I ordered the new Sony A7RIII and today I got the new Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN.
- Being a Canon shooter for over 10 years I was a little hesitant on switching to a new system, after using this camera/lens I can say I'm pretty confident that I'll get great results and I'm looking forward to create great content with this new gear.
- I tried to put together some test footage with the Sony A7RIII + Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN
- I'm learning how to edit in Adobe Premiere and also English is not my main language so you'll hear me mispronouncing some words.
Let me know what you think and if you are thinking about getting this lens, I'd say GET IT!

** IMPORTANT **
I Updated the Sony A7RIII firmware to 1.0.1 and I noticed that the autofocus was hunting more than the V.1.00 I recommend waiting a few days until the firmware has been tested or updated to a new 1.0.2

Can you do Eye AF in video mode now? You couldn't on the Rii.

do you loose sharpness with the crop lense?

Hey there, Yeah, the lens is designed to work on APS-C bodies but You can still use it on full frame cameras, you just need to turn the 'super 35' or the crop frame option and you'll have a 16mm that actually is a 24mm, but still wide enough. You can use it in the full frame option but you'll have vignetting.

Have u tried crop image zoom at 1.2x to get a wider field of view? Thats in full frame mode
Thanks for this i just bought this lens and was going to use it on my a6400 BUT i sold it before this lens was delivered lolol and i got an amazing deal on an a7r3. I think ill use this lens the way you described.
Question: can you use pixel shift on apsc mode? I know the resolution downgrades to 18mp but i shoot landscape and wonder if i can compensate the 18mp with pixel shift. The one thing stopping me from getting the r3 is the stupidly expensive lenses
You can use pixel shift in APS-C. It works on RAW. Pixel shift is not combined together in-camera.
You have to use Sony's software. For APS-C you will simply get pixel shifted RAW with a spherical image in the center of the frame.

can you use Clear Image Zoom with full frame mode? I've seen some guys mentioned if it zoom to 1.3x there would be no vignetting so its a 21mm-24mm lens?
It's 24mm
The Sigma lens is 16mm, but on a full frame you can see the vignette around the image, so it works best if you full frame camera is in crop mode (APC-S or super 35mm), the crop factor is 1.5, so this 16mm in reality is a 24mm lens
You can use crop factor 1.3 with this lens, works as 21mm with 24 megapixels on A7R III
Is the autofocus great with this lens?
Yes it is, I had the wrong settings at the beginning but I was able to fix it and it has great and fast autofocus.
