That Burgundy game holds untold potential for modders. Imagine lucky nations not just getting buffs but instead being competent. Stuff like that. I want to see how EU IV can get harder not by cold hard stats but by smarter enemies. The thing is, cold hard stats are static to some degree, if I lose to an ottoman army once and I can't field a better army in the same situation, it's mostly staying that way. An AI taking land in a coalition war and resetting truce timers ? I'd have to get creative to deal with that !

Once I was playing tall as Sweden. Developing was so funny, that at the end of game my only copper producing province - Dalaskogen accounted nearby 10-15% of world's copper production and on that field no country could even dare to think of challenging me.
Back when concentrate dev was OP I moved my capital to Dalaskogen as Sweden, got it to about 400 dev. Needless to say I never had to worry about ducats
To be fair, playing tall was a lot more interesting in the previous version because pillage capital and concentrate development were still broken. In my Timurids --> Mughals game, my capital alone got to 600 development
Seeing how you were helping your ally, I came up with an idea for a video that maybe you could make. The idea is simple, help an ally become a power. Basically, give them land in peace treaties, help them in wars, invite them to wars and give them free land, clean up their rebels, that sort of thing.
U know what a better strat is? playing a tall duchy (bavaria, brandenburg, etc.), and then just conquering ur trade area 50 years later when all the free cities are 70 dev. The AE is insane, too!
Actually if you had done this in 1.31.6 you could have just pillaged as many people as possible and probablly reach 500 dev. For extra flavor you could have done it as the opm german pirate republic. So no i am not an idiot for watching and Tom might have thought about this but thought it was super obvious so he didn't add that in the call.
Condottieri clients want you to burn manpower; battles and fort sieges are what makes them happy. The fun part is, it doesn't have to be battles against their war enemies; you can rent condottieri and fight your own rebel hordes and your client will still be happy with you.
I actually did something a while ago and for some fucking reason I decided to play one province tall nation in North America. I was about to lose my mind.
Yep doing this in 1.31 with only vassals and Mandala government reform is an easy 1000 dev capital within 100 years if you play your cards right. I managed to vassalize Ming as an OPM and concentrated all of China. :D

@@viorp5267 It's better that way. I got my One Faith achievement last patch and it was absolute hell to switch capitals to tag switch. I tag switched about 10 times in 3 stages and every province that was my capital at one point had between 200 and 1200 development. Not concentrating isn't an option in 1.31 because in a world conquest it's way better if you take everything you can and concentrate to reduce coring cost, overextension and in my case religious conversion speed.

And then one day you just wake up and bam, you're surrounded by buildings, ports, merchants, living in the second biggest city in the world
i am pretty sure "lusatia" or whatever they are called is supposed to be Lausitz, which is a region in Brandenburg, on the border of Saxony (unless my geography fails me) would love to see a video on them, if only to figure out why the hell Paradox bothered putting them in in the first place
By the start of the game it was part of the Bohemian Crown (together with Bohemia, Moravia and Silesian duchies). Much later during the 30 years war it was handed over to Saxony. I believe they added it to the game together with Lusatian culture - as a primary nation for that culture.

Lusatia has the sorbian culture. The Sorbs are the only indigenous people group in germany with their culture hub being in Bautzen, i think. Very, very interesting country

Play Lusatia please! It might not be in game but Lusatia has a special unique Slavic culture IRL called “Sorbian” which makes it very unusual since it’s in modern Germany. They’re west Slavs and have lived there for 1500+ years.
That reminds me of a playthrough that I had on the previous patch when pillaging was kinda overpowerd. I was playing as Ulm and stayed a free city for the entire game but i was taking vassals and concentrating from them. Without much of optimization I managed to have something like 1000 dev in one province in 1650's XD
To be fair, there's areas in Africa where that's fairly easy, different religions and cultures everywhere, can't get AE with nations that don't have discovered your capital, and once you actually make the jump to the next African region, you outtech them. Hell, do it with Kilwa or make kilwa your colonial vassal (if that's possible) and you can just casually stroll around the world and fight everyone everywhere. Deus vult CB and go, right ?
I`ve though about doing a "no aggressive expansion" game, which might be fun, but this playin tall to the max thing seems only fun to watch Laith struggle with.

Naval Batteries are one of the most underrated buildings in the game. Blocking slave raids, cucking naval invasions, and applying attrition to enemy navies. What's not to love?
I have a dream of just stacking attrition modifiers and cackle madly when fleets and troops around me disintegrate as if the ocean was actually sulphuric acid xD
Now I wanna do this but really play into religiously undermining the empire. Like take espionage to support rebels in the nations that annex the random orthodox opms and stuff

Problem with playing tall in this game is that the existng development +dev cost modifier is just so high after 25 that having a lot of provinces to play tall on becomes a neccessity
most people go quantity first and eco second in order to have admin ponits saved to tech up to 7 while finishing quantity and then make a quick admin focus with high admin advisor to get eco throug asap. But since you had a shit mil ruler in the first place I guess thats not that much of an issue
@thesocialstreamers you can start as anglican without being english. Set the startage on 1550 or something, go into custom nation. Create a anglican custom nation. Save it. Go back to 1444 and load this nation.

This is actually a insanely good strategy, start as an HRE opm, don't expand for 50 years, develop your nation to hell, then wreck the entire HRE.

An idea would have been to use the humiliate rival CB, and then show strength for the 100 of each mana. That could then be used to dev.
