      Matt, what was really engaging about this piece was not only the intelligent and well observed comments about the car, but it resonated on a deeper level without being pretentious or cliched. You really are one of the best out there. You’re now working at a different level to the wannabes who just want exposure. A genuine piece of work. Again, thank you.

    I picked up a 4 year old petrol Maserati Ghibli couple of weeks ago, I got an amazing deal on it and I gotta say it's just an incredible car. Yes I do have some criticisms, but at the end of the day the sound, beauty an just how special it is, does it for me. Puts a smile on my face and the attention you get is like nothing else! It's the sort of car you buy with your heart not your head, and of course a BMW is better, but I don't care, these are just something else! Great video!

    Your comments about life and how it's short are so true.
    People just mimic other people in their car choices in life ,everyone's too scared to be different ,everyone just follow the herd.
    When I see someone with a Maserati or something similarly exotic I'm envious of them,not just because of the car they drive but that they've dared to be different and stuck 2 fingers up at a conforming regimental society.

    I've slowly watched more and more of your reviews since COVID and they are really growing on me. I feel like I'm in familiar territory when hearing your voice reviewing a car.
    I've been a Lexus person for a long time, owned about 9, love them. Wife currently has a CT. I buy and sell at least once or twice a year and break even or make a profit, and have felt comfortable with Lexus cars because of their reliability. But I've always loved the look with Mercedes and their cars. I recently bought a W205 C-Class and absolutely love it. There are times admittedly where I wonder if I regret it buying it, I had to replace my 2 rear airmatic struts. But watching this video gave me a sense of encouragement. I don't expect the C-Class to be 100% reliable, but I've always wanted one and I'm glad I've bought this one. Thanks again for your amazing reviews.

    I actually did work for an extremely wealthy family and the husband had just bought one of these, not sure which model but out of all their cars I was always drawn to that. Stunning blue and chrome exterior and a matching blue and cream leather interior, every bit of it screamed out class. He had some stunning vehicles including a ferrari, merc, range rover and porsche which were all top spec expensive models but that car just came out top for me, no matter how much I hinted he wouldn't let me sit in it never mind drive it but I respected that. The noise when he started it and the smell of the leather when I walked past if it was open...I actually think I was in love 😂😂

      I have a 2004 Cadillac CTS with a v6 gas engine, it's surprisingly economical and way more than the v8 CTS V
      But if you commute with lots of traffic lights and stops driving these cars is a waste of money imo, you don't get to appreciate the motor and the mpg will hurt your wallet pretty badly

    • @johnb8956
      @johnb8956 ปีที่แล้ว

      If I lived in the US or the Middle East I’d have no hesitation in getting the petrol V8, but here in the UK/ Europe the diesel is actually a very good engine, and is actually somewhat affordable to run

    • @MybeautifulandamazingPrincess
      @MybeautifulandamazingPrincess ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @JohnB Gas v8's are not cheap or even reasonable to run in America anymore, gas prices now are ridiculous
      Only enthusiasts who don't mind the hit on their wallet or plan their budget drive v8's now, most people are downsizing for commuting cause of the current gas prices

    I used to own the 4.7 petrol, didn’t care about fuel costs, it was servicing that did me. Every time I went to the dealer it cost me a minimum of £3K, also although it was lovely there were switches out of the GM parts bin that ruined the overall. Having said that it was a nice car to drive and the engine sounded very good.

Not my daily, so no rush to get the job done etc... I'm looking for a headlight switch if you're able to recall what parts bin it was out of??? Also, believe there were a few Peugeot buttons thrown in for good measure...

    • @alfisti93
      @alfisti93 ปีที่แล้ว

      GM switches? On a 4.7 Maserati? Which one - M139 or M145?
      Sticky buttons, yes. Dated infotainment, yeah sure. But switchgear from "GM"?
      Would you care to elaborate, because I'm genuinely curious.

    • @alfisti93
      @alfisti93 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@peterlattimore6013 I'm afraid that (sticky?) headlamp switch on the M139 is a bespoke Maserati part. Like pretty much anything interior-wise on this generation. Unlike the latter M156, M157 and M161 products.
      Also there is no Peugeot in there. What you're probably thinking of is the satnav solution from Magneti Marelli (like RT4, RT5) which was a subsidiary of FIAT back then. These were used in a similar layout at PSA a.k.a. Peugeot and Citroen.
      But they still differ in terms of software, the screen, the headunit itself and the shape of the buttons.
      (Round ones for Maserati, rectangular for PSA.)

    One of my neighbours had the petrol version of this. He had it from new for a time, and then swapped it for a Merc soft-roader of some sort. I spoke to him about it, and he loved the Maserati, but said as soon as the warranty was up, he dropped it like a hot rock.
    I like this video because it gives a a good opportunity to put Matt right about something. I understand his spiel about enjoying life's pleasures. Life IS fleeting, and we must live it to the full while we can. When we are young, we take it for granted, then as we get older, we realise how precious it is, and look back on the things we could once do that now we can't. Where once illnesses were an inconvenience, in later life they become frightening. Nobody mocks an old man for having "man-flu" because that "man-flu" might kill him. Increasingly, the reports of people who die are about people a similar age or younger that you. One by one, you say a final farewell to life-long friends, and taste bittersweet irony as you consider whether you're luckier standing at the graveside than the guy in the coffin. To surmise, life is too short and precious to waste trying to keep a bloody Maserati running properly with everything working. Buy a 5-series in an unusual colour if you want something different.

      @@urdaeatmoths The one I like most, is known as Quattroporte V (model M139) from 2003-2012. Wikipedia, says they were all auto, or one of those automated manuals you should avoid like the plague. But I remember seeing them as manuals in new car road tests in the UK. So Wikipedia…or whoever wrote that, you are wrong. I would probably be looking for a hen’s tooth now. Black with tan interior, factory roof, but that Joshua, is Howard’s lottery win car! Or number 1 of about 50 cars in a dream man cave 😂

    For me the closest rival for the Maserati is the Jag XJ X351. Both underdogs but both beautiful. As an X351 owner I'm always blown away by the driving dynamics of such a big car. Does this drive as well?

      My Deisel currently has over 70K miles on it, other than climate control fault (seems common) it's been fine for reliability and gets a notch over 40MPG on a run. Although getting servicing is a bit of a pain.

    I felt the same about my XF which I got just over a year ago - no regrets and it's NEVER let me down (despite Jaguar's reputation for "unreliability"). Even drove to Venice and back from Manchester for our family holiday last August. And got admiring looks wherever we stopped on the continent.
