    Debian website is designed like they don't want you to use Debian.
    Good video btw.

      I know right lol. They should want to do better with their website. I think Debian is great for everyone, but it requires the user to really want to use their distro because those are the ones that will take the time to find and download it. Thanks for watching! I very much appreciate the support.

    After like 10 years going back and forth with different linux distributions on dual boot with windows, I ended on debian since the 12.0 release. And I haven't touch windows for like 3 months.

      I'm happy to hear you've switched over to Linux fully. I've dual booted with windows once and it just wasn't for me, but there's people into it and it works for them.

    you can have "latest and greatest" packages with flatpak

      @ImZipux  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Using OBS as a flatpak crashes randomly. And though I do recognize how helpful flatpaks are to people, it's not for me. I'd rather get my packages from the package managers.

    Seems like you are describing Void Linux

      @ImZipux  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't really know anything about Void Linux, although I am interested in the fact that it's a stable rolling release, according to their website. The only issue I'd have is what their using for a package manager.

      Personally, I'll take a pass on flatpaks.

      @@ImZipux Is there a reason why? they seem to be the new universal package... allowing developers to release a single flatpack for any system, and sidestepping the package maintainers in every distro. plus they are sandboxxed.. maybe not perfect but pretty good.

    • @ImZipux
      @ImZipux  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think that flatpaks are perfectly reasonable as a solution to having a universal package in which it doesn't rely on the distro's package maintainers. I've used flatpak in the past to get the package called livecaptions. My problem with flatpak (and it may just be solely on OBS) was that OBS kept crashing at random times. Other than that, I personally prefer using the distro's package manager to deal with my package as much as possible. But again, I think flatpaks serve a purpose and should be used if people like using them. They're better than using snaps for sure. I just, other than livecaptions, don't personally have a need for flatpak.

      @@ImZipux Yeah I much prefer built in distro packages, so I use them where it makes sense.. but I think the handwriting is on the wall... Flatpaks are going to replace most distro packages eventually except for maybe the core OS utilities.

      I'd be careful about what you get from the AUR, but it is a solid choice. I've never been against Arch whatsoever. I've always said either go with Debian or Arch.

    because you love applications fail to run due to outdated dependencies, you love the maintainer over reach that breaks the basic functionality of your password managers, you love your modern hardware not be able to run, and you love how stable and internet free it is 😂
    seriously there is a reason Ubuntu was made and. debian proved them right on every patch… and ubuntu sucks…

    • @АлексейШилин-д1ф
      @АлексейШилин-д1ф 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Are you an Arch user by any chance? Because that sounds very like nonsense an Arch user would say. ;)
      Seriously though, 3rd-party applications don't fail to run due to outdated dependencies because they either are already built for Debian (Steam, Google Chrome, VSCode, Vivaldi, Slack, Skype, Signal, Anydesk, Teamviewer, Spotify, …), or they come as flatpak/appimage which have all of their deps already included.
      KeepassXC password manager wasn't broken. It was split into a minimal package and a full one, and users can choose either, so it really is a non-issue and just typical Internet drama out of nothing.
      Modern hardware runs just fine. There is newer kernel and such in official backports repository for those who need it.
      So your message just says that you haven't used Debian without actually saying that you haven't used Debian. :)
      See, there are people who don't want to play the "let's see what is broken today" game over and over again, they want their system to work reliably and be sure that what worked yesterday will still work today and the day after - they just have other more interesting and important things to spend their time on.
      In other words, bleeding edge distributions like Arch are great for those who like to spend their time on tinkering and solving issues, and Debian is great for those who have a life. :)

      I have never seen someone that doesn't know about Debian backports, or Debian Testing, or Debian Sid, as much as the author of this comment.....or maybe they never tried Debian and just bought the extreme Arch propaganda?
