      Yes, when Marty goes back home and grabs the can off the truck, Biff says “hey, Butthead!” before he realized that it was Marty.
      Funny how for a split second you could hear the old “bully Biff” come out, until he realized it was Marty, then his tone immediately went back to being humble and sheepish. The new Biff has a level of respect and fear of the McFly family ever since George decked him once back in high school.
      Just goes to show that bullies are truly cowards at heart.

    One of the side theories about these movies is that the reason Biff is always doing auto detailing is that when he was fixing his car after the crash scene in 1955 Biff discovered he liked working on cars, especially detailing them. This leads to him doing the detailing of cars in the movies.

      @Verowak Reacts It was, but the meaning was a little different. Up until the 1970s, a "dude" was basically an urbanite, wearing fancy clothes and having proper manners. "Dude ranches," where city folk could go to spend a week or a weekend horseback riding and living the cowboy life, were kind of popular for many years.
      Which brings to mind another movie you should watch: "City Slickers," in which Billy Crystal and two friends deal with their mid-life crises by joining a cattle drive.

    During the first scene in the saloon, I'm not sure if you noticed, but when Buford said "What's your name, dude?", he doesn't really mouth the word "dude". In the blooper reel, it shows that Thomas F. Wilson (Buford) says "What's your name, pilgrim? Pilgrim? What am I, John Wayne?". Fun fact: 8:09 The 2 movie posters in this shot were for the first 2 movies Clint Eastwood was ever in. He had a bit part as a forgetful scientist in Revenge of the Creature (a sequel to Creature from the Black Lagoon) and as a jet squadron leader in Tarantula (about a giant tarantula). Both came out in 1955.
    Revenge of the Creature was the only film of 1955 to be shown in 3-D. That means it's possible that Biff's buddy in the 3-D glasses (the credits name him 3-D) probably got his glasses at that movie.

When the first movie was screened for him at Camp David, Reagan asked the projectionist to replay the scene, “Ronald Reagan?? The *actor?!?*” as he found it hilarious. In the second movie, there was the Max Headroom-like Reagan appearance in the Cafe 80’s.
    For this movie, the producers contacted Reagan and asked him if he would consider coming out of (acting) retirement to play 1885’s mayor of Hill Valley. Reportedly, Reagan considered doing it, but his failing health prevented it.

    WHen Marty puts the door of the stove on his chest (and under his poncho) it is a direct reference to one of the Clint Eastwood "Spaghetti Western" trio of films. I won't say which one in case you haven't seen it, but they are... "A Fistful Of Dollars", "For A Few Dollars More" and "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly".

    40:20 If you look closely at the scene in which Marty re-appears in the present in 1985, just after he passes the finished bridge... on the right, there's a sign, and it reads: "Eastwood Ravine".

    The pictures in Doc's 1955 home are Isaac Newton, Ben Franklin, Thomas Edison, and Albert Einstein.
    Gasoline was a common household cleaning solvent in 1885. That's why the early internal combustion engines used it. But I guess it hadn't made it to the west coast yet??
    The three cowboys and the bartender at the saloon were also voice actors in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit", in which Christopher Lloyd starred as the villain. They were very popular character actors in westerns of the 1950s - 1970s.

    Haven't yet quite gotten to which was your favorite. I've always said, the first was the OG, just because, when it first came out, it was just so original (saw it in the theater)...at first viewing, the second was great, but confusing. The third, very well might be my favorite. Going from 1985 to 1955 was great. From 1985 to 1885....wow! And just liked the mixing of the movie itself, with the time differences. Never was a big fan of old westerns, but this mix hit.

    One thing that doesn't get addressed but I think maybe supposed to be implied is that the events of this movie are what convinces the original Doc to repair Marty's letter and learn about his death in 1985. I'm thinking that by the time he's already learned so much about the future and nothing catastrophic results, he figures that whatever it was Marty was trying to tell him can't make that much more of a difference. Also just really fascinating to know that the first time you see doc in the first movie he already knows the entire story up to Marty going back to 1885 and is holding so much info back himself.

    • @Stevarooni
      @Stevarooni ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Since Marty walked in on Doc watching the video of the "experiment" in 1985, I think he saw or heard the shooting one of the times he watched it, and after Marty left he wavered back and forth until he pieced the letter together.

    • @jkhoover
      @jkhoover ปีที่แล้ว +4

      No. BTTF doesn't work that way. They actually change the past, so when Marty's parents are wimps Marty didn't go to the past, so Doc doesn't know the events that eventually happen. BTTF 1 Doc only knows the one timeline where he's never met Marty's parents nor Marty in the past, at least at the beginning.

    14:08 Oops this is where the story fell apart. The writers did not take into consideration that Doc buried the DeLorean. Instead of using the Delorean from 1955 they should have used the one that the doc buried, it's newer because it hasn't been sitting in a mine for 70 years like the one Marty drove BACK to 1885. PLUS It doesn't have a torn gas line.

    Good reaction. And to answer your curiosity regarding other projects that the cast did after this movie, it should be easy since a few of them were A-list actors during the 1990s and into the 2000s. Lea Thompson (who played his mother 'Lorraine') was A-list actress, especially during the 1990s. She had her own sitcom on NBC ('Caroline In The City' which was affiliated with the TV show 'Friends' --- they were in the same universe). And I think she currently has a series on Hallmark Channel.
    Elisabeth Shue who played Marty's girlfriend 'Jennifer' in part 2 and part 3 was also an A-list actress during the 1990s into the 2000s, but more so with movies. And she still acts today. She was actually in a few movies prior to Back To The Future 2. And of course Christopher Lloyd and Michael J. Fox are well-known in the business.
