Thought I'd post some timeline tags to show different topics throughout the video so people can skip to the parts that may interest them the most: Fiddle Yard Overview @ 00:30 Track Preparation @ 09:51 Baseboard Joins @ 13:28 Track Laying - Straights @ 19:48 Preparing Points @ 23:49 Laying Points @ 25:58 Laying Curves @ 29:55
Great video everything easy explained when you are doing it going to enjoy your videos. What type of power system will you be using to power all of your track
Nice work. Am I right to assume you will never park anything on the lift-up section? If so, can you park 2 different trains on each line, separated by the lift-up section? What about automation? Are all these different blocks?
Exactly that, trains are split and then stored on either side of the fiddle yard when the lift out needs removing. I did mention this not far into the video… No automation on this layout.
They’re pretty equally spaced, 30mm rail to rail if memory serves, apart from the short sidings which are a bit closer because of the settrack curve I used to level it out. Given some of them aren’t dead straight, as long as the joins for the lift out are spot on, level and the wagons are happy which they are, I’m happy. It’s the fiddle yard so the track doesn’t need to look 100% 99% will be fine… the scenic section will be glued, and will take longer as that’ll be 100% guaranteed.

I have a Gaugemaster prodigy dcc controller which will power the track through the bus and dropper wires
Hi what gauge wires do you use for droppers and buss thank you and fantastic fiddle yard
Bus wires will be 12/14 gauge and the droppers are 16 I think

@@belsteadlanemodelrailway Must have been when the kettle boiled :)

Hate to be picky here but, if you go to all this effort then those tracks where they are straight, should be laser beam straight and equally spaced

Thank you!
How many trains could you run at once on your layout
Two round the mainline, then when the depot gets built, some shunting movements
