    Superb era,and a rarely modelled location ,as for stock you can still pick up items avoid a certain auction site though ,I was sad when the abandoned the one anglia refresher livery I loved it,I took my son on one of the last class 86 hauled trains back in 2005 ,I wish you well all the best

    So glad to see you back on TH-cam, and what a way to do it with a very well presented and informative video. Thank you for taking the time to put together all of that with the old footage and photos it was very enjoyable. as for the layout, simple is always a lot less stressful in terms of track complexity and quantity, and I'm very much looking forward to following this build.

    What a colourful history! With so many possibilities in terms of rolling stock and trying to, sensibly, keep things as simple as possible with the layout you are going to potentially run out of storage space. Have you considered cassettes? Maybe one or two 4’ gaps in the fiddle yard where they can come and go. Can then allow displays on the walls. Could be stored under the layout too. Would be ideal for the shorter trains or even split longer ones if space really does become an issue later but at least design it in whilst you can. New Sub!

    Excellent detailed history of the prototype for the proposed layout. I particularly liked the drawer doorway, it could also be used to move trains from track in the fiddleyard.

  • @theeventhorizon-valebridge9512
    @theeventhorizon-valebridge9512 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'd put in a ramped line, or two, for up and down to a lower deck so you can have a huge fiddle yard underneath and double the scenic area. (Not a helix as they're always trouble!) Do it now before it's too late! See the Davidson Parkway layout for just what can be fitted under the layout! Regards Julian

      @theeventhorizon-valebridge9512 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@belsteadlanemodelrailway I know about having to compromise with the shed space too. It's not ideal. As long as you are sure because once you start it's very hard to re-plan, as I discovered! I too feel like starting again on my layout as there's so many things I'd do differently now. Anyway, good luck and it will be good to follow your progress on the channel. Regards Julian

    Looking forward to seeing the work progress, but I would advise you to get curtains or blinds for the windows in your shed, when you're not in it, for security reasons.

  • @SteveSmithRailways
    @SteveSmithRailways ปีที่แล้ว

    What a cracking shed to have the new layout in, shame you din't have a helix and put all your fiddle roads underneath and have a full scenic railway on top which may have allowed you to get everything in you want without too much compromise. Anyway, looks like you're doing a grand buddy. You've certainly got a vast array of liveries to choose from. I was never a keen lover of the One livery, simply because I thought it didn't suit the 47s (fave loco) but it definitely suited the 90s and MKIII's.
    Look forward to seeing this progress and keep up the great work.

      @@belsteadlanemodelrailway oh yeah they'd be silly not to, the early 2000s era would certainly get a lot of interest if they got made. Personally, I'm hoping to see network Rails mk2f's modelled at some point to, to go with there DBSO also

  • @tomslade3365

    Just two things to consider at this stage ! the long sinic twintrack section I would not run this paraelle to the wall but try to sloow it acrost the boards in a curve or from the mid point curve this to the ends in a very long shallow arc ( if you have ever seen the MRC Ingatestone baced layout the sation is on a long curve over 20ft ) this gives real intrest and a more dinaming look as the trains run through . The other point is the slide out fiddle yaer you will need a clip on set of stoppers acrost the ends strips of wood with powerfull magnets that snap on and off this will stop any tragic events involving stock rolling off ...... Will sub to the new channel , grest to see the periode your moddleing

    @mikeatpudhamjunction2323 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can I ask where did you get your roll of cork from. If you added hinged corners on your fiddle yard corners it will give you more storage tracks with minimum loss of storage lines. Good to see you back. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe.

    I mean, I personally prefer the era around the introduction of the Britannia class in the early 50s for the GE Mainline 😉, but in all seriousness Anglia/One is the era I actually first remember, I miss the bright and jazzy liveries, and it's great to see that era being modelled - you got yourself an extra subscriber.🙂 Best wishes for the project!

    looking forward to seeing a "local" model railway layout in an era I remember well. Could reimagine the old Wagon Repair Depot as a Freightliner depot which would fit nicely into that corner before sweeping into the tunnel - of course now the site of Bruff Road.
