- How to replace front wheel hub when bearings fail and why to use this method. Also, includes advice on replacing solely the bearing. I knew the bearings had gone out because of a our, rotational noise up front when turning.
Rotor screws are not needed. You are just wasting your time. The only reason they are in there is for the assembly line.
I hate rotor screws . Little tip for ya to try and avoid that stripping in the future heat those up with a torch you can use a regular run-of-the-mill little handheld propane torch but heat the hell out of them and generally they will come right out
Yeah I got to do this on mine. My ABS came on and then my ESC came on and I can't figure out what it was and then somebody told me that it could be a wheel bearing. I jacked up my car and my tire when I jacked it up the front tire driver side kind of kicked out a little bit. So I'm about to replace this tomorrow to see if that fixes my ABS cuz I'm tired of sliding everywhere when it rains.😂
Also I bought the whole will have assembly. Will I need any special tools??
A great tip to remember is the night b4 go out and lube up every nut & bolt in the area of where you'll be working. Might save ya some time and headaches

Dude invest in a $19 impact driver to remove those Phillips screws in the rotor.. you know the kind that you just hold into the screw head and smack the back with a hammer. They make short work of the those screws without stripping them or any screws, nuts, or bolts as far as that goes that are frozen without damaging the screw or bolt itself

I'll be doing the hub on the other side. And I'm trying to find out if my hub nut will be reverse (Left Hand) thread?? ... Great instructions btw, Many thanks.
One more thing LOL.. never and I mean never use a drill on an easy out. They will break off inside the hole and you will never drill that hard ass bastard out
Use a coat hanger or a short bungee cord to hold your caliper up out of the way just in case it falls off you don't want it to rip the line. Even with a brake job I hang mine with a coat hanger or bungee cord. Work smarter not harder. That's why they call me the fox cuz I work like a fox and not like an ox

Yeah but it don't hurt to put a little anti-seize on that to keep the bearing from getting frozen on the spindle just in case you have to change it out again
Is yours a 2 wheel drive because I have the same year kia but a 4 wheel drive and my front assembly is way different. I'm trying to figure out how to put the seals on but I see you just order a whole new his assembly
Did you have to remove that slotted ring? It looks like you just take the axle nut off and the whole thing falls off together. I got an 05 that most likely needs it...
Thanks for the video. My wife's bearings are growling on the passenger side and I was really not looking forward to this job. The hub assembly r/r is very similar to my Dodge Ram. I'm just glad I don't have to take that "pipe threaded/fine threaded" piece out if I just replace the complete assembly!!! Thanks again!!!
I've been using this video as a guide for doing exactly the same job but my rotar is completely stuck, can't get it to shift even though it comes off easily on this video. Any idea why it would be so stuck, and how do I get it off?
Sorry, just saw this. Hope you are good to go by now. I use a rubber mallet to whale on each side until it breaks loose.

You can take those screws out with an impact driver.
You can, but be real careful. Helps to hit them with some PB Blaster the night before

This is rear wheel drive. Much easier job than 4 wheel drive because there is no drive axle to deal with front hub replacement. If you have to deal with a drive axle, it usually involves taking either upper and lower or both control arms loose. Sometimes even the tie rod. After job is complete you will need a front end alignment. No alignment necessary with my job because you don't have to disturb the alignment points. There is a video on honda crv (all wheel drive) that can show how to do the job. Good luck.

The part is at the 4:34 min part of video. I was advised it was cheaper to just buy the entire assembly.

How do you get the cap off to get to the center
Usually there is a notch to put a small flat head screwdriver in that enables you to pry cap off. If yours doesn't have the notch, gently pry along along the perimeter of the cap that covers the axle nut. Its pressed into place and should pop on this model.

@@brireyes4912 I ordered the entire hub assembly on line. Use part number I showed, I believe I even stated where I ordered it from. Good luck. Dealer here was no help.
