    You aren't kidding about the messy shop thing. A customer came by with a Sorento today and the first thing I said, "Sorry for the mess in the shop". Well he's a rancher and just laughed and said he know's how it is haha. Thanks for the video, now I know what I'm getting into. Dude's bearing, upper ball-joint, cv-axle, and brakes are all shot on the driver side.

    I was checking this video out I have a rear wheel drive and it don't have the hole through the spindle for the axle to go through so I guess I need to use a hub assembly puller or something to that effect to remove the hub assembly out and get the old bearing off

  • @K1LL3RGRN
    @K1LL3RGRN ปีที่แล้ว

    Anti-seize on that hub assembly will make changing the bearing out next year that much easier lol... Maybe this the last one you have changed for a while.

    A 2 jaw puller can be used to push out the cv shaft on an old wheel bearing

    Hey Freddy, cool video man 👍
    The Sorento you worked on in this video is a 4WD right? Which means, you had to take the steering knuckle out to get to the bearing. I’m seeing several videos on TH-cam where people were just simply removing the wheel bearing hub assembly without going through what you did, and swapping it for a new one that has a new bearing already pressed in it.
    I think only the RWD version has that luxury.

    Awesome vid bro, but quick question, how do I remove the top control arm?

    • @FreddysCarsaAndChaos
      @FreddysCarsaAndChaos  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s one 14mm nut and bolt. Remove that and then try to separate the ball joint from the knuckle without destroying the rubber boot.

    What if it doesn't make crunching noises when you turn the wheel when it's jacked up and doesn't wobble would you say the wheel bearing is okay then. I got the same vehicle. But I hear these humming noises from the front ever since I had all- terrain tires put on the front only because the Treads are a lot more deeper on those tires. I bought the wrong ones when I bought those tires LOL and I have just regular tires on the back. So would it make like a humming noise because of those front tires. There is no wobble of the steering wheel or nothing either. Any tips can help. Thank you much in advance

    • @FreddysCarsaAndChaos
      @FreddysCarsaAndChaos  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      So it could just be the tires but it’s really hard to say for sure from my end. Rotate the tires to the back and see if the noise persists. Also I would suggest getting tires to match all the way around.

    • @BugzKiller
      @BugzKiller 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well the last time I went to get an oil change they checked my tires when it was on the rack I forgot to mention all they said was I will need tires soon. But I'm going to go back there and have them rotated like you said first. Thanks Freddy

      @FreddysCarsaAndChaos  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@BugzKillerno problem. Like I said matching tires on all 4 is best case so if it’s in your budget do that as well asap. Hope it works out.

    Did you preload the bearing when tightening the axle nut? If so, how? Thanks for your video! I'm looking forward to having a vehicle that doesn't require bearings to be pressed one day!

    • @FreddysCarsaAndChaos
      @FreddysCarsaAndChaos  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the comment! I did not preload it im not sure what you mean exactly but I did torque to spec which is dependent on what vehicle you have. Just google it for quick reference. Usually between 130-200 foot pounds.

    • @ScottYouger
      @ScottYouger 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Haynes manual says 2009 and earlier models, the 'Drive Axle Hub Nut' is torqued to 177 to 198 ft-lbs or 245 to 275 Nm.

    I have watched you video. And I keep coming back to it and just wondering why you are have to replace them every year or so many times?????
    I have a 2005 Sorento and have only replaced them in eight years.

    • @FreddysCarsaAndChaos
      @FreddysCarsaAndChaos  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I always have the same question. Could be parts, could be the harsh north east salt season. Luckily they aren’t hard to do. Especially after coming apart 4 times 😂

    • @galactic25
      @galactic25 ปีที่แล้ว

      How would salt affect the bearings? The race seals the bearings. I replaced mine in my Yaris a couple years ago with the National brand ones, and they started making sounds, so I’m replacing them again with SKF brand. What brands have you used?

    • @thomasbroker69

    • @FreddysCarsaAndChaos
      @FreddysCarsaAndChaos  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the comment! Takes me about an hour if everything goes correctly. At my shop it would be $100 as we charge $100 an hour labor. Good luck!

      @@FreddysCarsaAndChaos sweet thanks! I also have a 2007 sorento, driven all across Canada and I love it! I've had the vehicle almost 3 years and never had to replace them yet. Also, only 2 of the 4wd tires engage when activated, do you have any info on this too?

      As far as I can tell yes. But I’m not seeing a 2.5 option only a 3.5. So I would check at your local parts store with your VIN number and they can get you the exact bearing.
