Cheers Al, some good tips there mate, siezed in grub screws can be a nightmare to undo, I've had luck sometimes whith driving a Torx driver bit into chewed up allen screws, anythings worth a go, as you admirably demonstrated, I suppose that's why we should have a well stocked tool box, it gives us plenty of weapons to attack it whith, lol. Thanks for the video, stay safe you two, best wishe's, Stuart uk
can you do a vid of how to get basin taps out when they used putty and brass lock nuts .. the amount ive drilled from the top and spend ages with a hack saw blade
Twin taps? Take away as much copper off the pipes as you can to get access and use a 1/2"-3/4" tubular backnut spanner. I've got a Nerrad tap change kit. Really good, but then I get to use it regularly. If the nuts are really badly rounded off, you could used a plunge cut multi tool with a metal blade. You'll damage the tap tails and render them as scrap. Depends on ease off access and be careful, go slow.
Hi al hope all is well great videos just put a new pair of tap cartridges in my mixer tap hot all good cold tight to turn any feedback would be appreciated 👍👍👍
I removed screw but the top is stuck fast to the tap body. Also the plumbing under the sink looks like a lunatic got hold of some pipes and did it. Good grief.
Wrap something around to protect the chrome plate and wriggle away with some adjustable grips. Chamois leather doesn't slip and grips reasonably well. Good luck.
@@loafersheffield from one sheffielder to another I’m replacing the tap altogether as this particular one has been bent all over the place. You should see the plumbing under the sink. I have never seen anything like it, not even on TH-cam.
@@bottletree33 If I had to hazard a guess, it'll either be a diy botch job or kitchen fitters. The usual giveaway is absence of any soldered joints. All push fit or compression and the obligatory inaccessible stop tap. Good luck and have fun.
If the tap is still under guarantee and you have to go through all that faffing about, take the tap off and go exchange it, FOC for another one. Al, it's that tap again. Worst design ever imo. ------> scrap bin. Worse still, if you have paid for it and fitted it for a customer, I used to feel honour/duty bound to exchange and fit new one labour free. Good look finding the receipt, if under guarantee from literally hundreds. As I say, I can only advise you with regard to the suitability, compatibility and longevity of any particular tap design. You buy it and I'll fit it.👍
No worries that tap was from my scrap bin. What happened to that video of your apprentice changing the stopcock live? Would love that vid on my channel loafer.

I don't think it was one of my videos; live stop tap snatch. Might have been Allen Hart. He's a lovely bloke.

Great video again, thanks, I have just that problem, wondering what I could do next, many thanks again
No problem.
Thanks again Alan.
Fountain of knowledge.
No worries
Good tips. Some screwdriver socket sets have allen key bits that can be helpful. Instead I’d WD40 there is a releasing oil called freeze it.
Great tip! Thanks David.
Great workmanship! Could you be kindly shed some lights on stuck tap shroud! I guess because of limescale the shroud is completely stuck! Thanks!
Try tapping around the shroud lightly with a small toffee hammer to break the lime scale seal.
Thanks Al - helpful video.
Very welcome
