    His AnnM - this is the best video on this topic I have seen so far. Like all things do-it yourself, they never go easy, and I was having a hell of a job to get the grub screw out. Its so hard to see inside the hole. Your tip on just loosening it enough, may be all that I need. Thanks

    Thanks for this video. One extra piece of advice for anyone refitting a new cartridge - I could not get my cartridge to fit which was apparently due to the rubber ring seal around the cartridge that I had. Had to call my friendly plumber who put some silicone grease on this rubber ring and - hey presto job done!!!

    Thanks for your video. I got as far as taking the red/blue button out, and it crumbled. I believe the tap is about 10 years old. I have had a look inside to find the grub screw - it looks very furry. Should I just get the tap replaced? It is in a shower, with no isolator, and in a difficult position. I have seen a replacement unit at Reece’s plumbing, so I know there should be a straight replacement.

      Probably time to call a plumber but here are a few suggestions, try taking the handle off the tap and operate the lever of the cartridge by hand, if it turns off like that then the tap handle and cartridge are not connecting properly . Also check the brass ring is fully tightened ant that there is no movement of the cartridge relative to the tap. Other possibilities are:- a faulty cartridge or a damaged or dirty seat of the tap. Hope this is of some help, good luck.

    Hi, I have just recently installed one of these taps/cartridges and I have no hot water coming out. Could it be because of the cartridge?

    • @AnnErasmus
      @AnnErasmus  ปีที่แล้ว

      First thing to check is that you have turned the hot water isolation valve back on. Sounds obvious but that happened to me once, that's why I mention it. Next I would check that the handle grub screw is engaging the lever of the cartridge correctly. That means the cartridge lever and tap handle should be in the 'off' position when you tighten the grub screw. If that doesn't help take out the cartridge and check that the hot and cold openings are working correctly as you move the lever (see video). The only other thing I can think of is that the cartridge is not lining up with the holes in the tap housing correctly, either due to the cartridge not being orientated correctly or not the right cartridge for the tap. I hope these suggestions will help, if not time to call in a professional, good luck 😊👍

      @AnnMatt Erasmus hey thanks for the quick reply. Not sure where I read in the comment section but someone suggested that there might be an air bubble in the hot water line and to run the kitchen tap and wash room tap to heat the pipes up. I turned the main water off and ran the hot water for a while. Not sure exactly how I fixed it but we got hot water going through the shower now. Lucky cause my next step was ringing the plumber. Thanks again.

    • @AnnErasmus
      @AnnErasmus  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      First try tightening the cartridge down slightly (careful not to over tighten).if that does not help then remove cartridge and check the rubber seal for dents, scratches or tears. Also check the seat of the cartridge in the tap for damage or debris eg calcium scale build-up. If all looks good then lubricate rubber seal and reassemble a very slow leak will sometimes stop after few days. Occasionally one does get a faulty cartridge which will need replacement. I hope this is of some help, good luck😊👍

      This is a difficult situation. Best to call a professional who may have specialised tools to deal with it.
