This is awesome...Chinese EVs are awesome....it is a shame that American can't and don't want to compete..if these cars come to American...they would be so so popular...all of them look so much better that any American car...Wow...GREAT,GREAT INNOVATION!!!!!
The Americans often comment on the videos asking how to get these and I always have to tell them that sadly their government doesn't want them to have nice things.
It's actually quite refreshing to see a westerner as yourself praising EVs unlike so many who don't. Here in Australia most Boomer's are really stuck in the 20th century. I'm a baby boomer but I'm looking forward at moving with the world of the future ❤️🌏
They offer so many advantages over combustion engine cars, particularly in responsiveness and noise levels. They're not perfect and they can't replicate the pure emotional connection of a raucous exhaust note but you always need compromises and I'll take that for cleaner air in cities and a more pleasant ride. If I want to enjoy an UCE car at full blast I can go to a race track.
The problem with EV? After 100 years of stupid burning systems not far from steam engines we are used to 21% energy efficiency. This was seemingly okay as long we seemed have in abundance but prices of the slavery system are rising and cost too. 65% of dummies have no idea what their car really costs and just complain having no money! Now idiots and cheaters even want to promote a 12% efficient system of using valuable energy that is NOT to waist! The hydrogen and e-Fuel promoters preparing the next SCAM to fool people with no idea of physics. BEV however last much longer than our previous mostly German premium in 54 years. We drive EV since 2008 and started with a promotion car for energy autonomy and e-mobility to promote also water, wind and solar solutions to private owners that wanted to become FREE! So keep in mind that any EV has 68% and more energy efficiency. ICE cars with the same torque and power consume at least 10 times more energy to just do the same! What do you need more even initially costing still more? Think that we mostly charge home and destination to full in just 10 Seconds and have climatized cars in the morning. Ours are also V2L and bring 3600 Watt at 220 Volts if needed. We often do mountain roads and do not need brakes that much, but fill the ‚tank‘ while driving downhill😂 which ICE can do that too? 💩🤡🤯🤬 In 2 years we had NO service needed and only some OTA updates, so which ICE is getting better all the time? Our 2008 car is now Version 2.0 and has near doubled battery capacity for little money and in fact is a new car with all other improvements. Best investment ever as they are sold more already than we paid for. Even with a Porsche today it’s hard to get more than you paid for but our EV even the latest ones are in total a good business reducing cost by 30% (adjusted for inflation, so in fact we even saved more) including PV amortization and chargers cost and installation. We even do not care Elon Musk lowering the prices and do not fear loosing any money when we calculate fairly at win-win level of understanding but we also have more than one car and all we can afford on our own without our bankers! So again; never ever ICE again! I even would prefer horse carriages over burning fuels and pollute our only world. EV are not free of environmental questions neither but the ressources responsibly mined are no problem and to more than 95% to be recycled - only that until now the batteries lasted much longer (second life in other applications too) than expected as the 2008 before upgrade to new had still 95% that every ICE at this age has too due to use!🤔😎
The only way the Western Manufacturers can compete is by imposing import tariffs. The creativity and speed of all these new Chinese models is extraordinary.
Absolutely correct and if those western car manufacturers had to compete with these Chinese evs they would have to reduce workers pay or lay off many of them. It would be a terrible time for US auto workers but a good time to be a US car consumer.
Hi Mark. Wow that was an amazing show, quite staggering the amount vehicles on display, the Chinese car industry is really moving at a phenomenal pace. Your knowledge of the vehicles was amazing how you remembered all those details is amazing. Shame you couldn't have got onto the Zeekyr stand at the end never mind ,Ora seems to have become stagnant unfortunately I love their cars, and Nio ,I love Noomi . I also loved all the Chinese lady's so much Candy 🍭 worthy of a video of its own 😂 actually. Brilliantly done 💯 impressive work watched it right through and enjoyed every minute. Thanks so much for that comprehensive review. I hope we can have every one of them out here in Melbourne next year 😂😂😂 ,Dream on . Johnny in Melbourne 😊😊
Haha, thank you so much Johnny. It's really a pleasure to bring this show to others because there's just so much going on. I'm a complete car nerd so knowing this stuff is second nature. Shame about Zeekr as you said, but stay tuned for more videos from them coming up. Ora have hit a wall it seems and I like their cars but they didn't even show the Ballet Cat. Here's hoping they'll pick things up later this year. The ladies were lovely as ever, but I'm afraid I'd get cancelled if I made a video just about them. Still, at least they're not the only thing worth looking at now which tells you how far the industry has come. Good news for you, Zeekr are coming later this year to Australia, as are GAC, so plenty to look forward to.
What an enjoyable and journey into the show. A million thank you for the colossal effort made and the wealth of reference. I would not usually would watch a long video but yours was a real joy to watch.
Thanks for the leg work, That's a huge show to cover. What a selection of cars there, Some of the models are absolutely outstanding. Interesting to hear IM Motors will be coming to Europe badged as MG, I would love to see them in the flesh here. Thanks for the video it's been an enjoyable couple of hours looking at the best BEV's in the world as far as I'm concerned.
Glad you enjoyed it mate. It's a pleasure for me too (though is it too much to ask for the whole show to myself just for 2 hours?) IM coming to Europe is an interesting move and to do so as MG, I'm thinking they'll surely need something that makes them look more MG-like, but I doubt it'll happen like that, so you'll have the oddest family of mismatched designs.
Nothing as interesting as the Chinese cars these days. They have many brands and designs introduced in recent years which is really impressive with the pace.
Wow - what an eye opener as just to what is out there, just amazing and so much to get your head around. Well done on the marathon effort. Great to see Polestar 4 and 3, but like you missed seeing the 2!
OMG… What an impressive review. I take two days to look at it as it was so intense and ballistic. But again I am so impressed but several Chinese cars hold such a lovely interior design and a unique outside characters. Beautiful colors too. I am very impressed. Aside this, I suppose you must have exhausted after running around and I hope you took a bit of rest before next ones. Thank you so much for letting us know seeing this show. Very impressive
correction: xiaomi do have their own factory in Beijing to produce the SU7, but due to the license regulation, they have to put their products under Beijing Auto company in order to sell the car in China, that saids, they have the license to manufacture, and they are manufacturing their own cars, but they don't have the license to sell yet.
watched it to the last min, that small bit of buttons on the italian design is the best of both worlds i think, specially when they add the feature to assign different commands to those buttons, i respect the great effort you put, had a lot of fun, thanks!
Hopefully some of these brands enter the Australian market as I'm very attracted by their designs and would consider one over the boring selection we currently have here. Love your channel by the way and in the near distant future I'll attend one of these auto shows in china as we don't have an Auto show in Sydney anymore.
Wire branch risers, or limb risers, the cables from hood to A pillar, are actually practical on wooded trails as they prevent tree limbs striking the windshield. AFAIK it started after WW2, then became more popular with Land Rover and later Jeep enthusiast offroaders.
Impressive how you covered the entire show ! .....and the time stamps for each brand are a great reference. I would however, like to point out that NIO did bring a new generation swap station to the show....I'm sure the only swap station from anybody. I think you might have mentioned it as it was something unique at the show.
If it was the swap station announced at NIO Day 2023 (in December) then it wasn't anything particularly new, nor really that interesting, just improved specs. Still does the same job.
Xiaomi su7 is built in a new Xiaomi factory, not built by BAIC. It just use BAIC production license which is something you must have in order to build cars.
I enjoyed every moment of this 2 1/2 hour commentary, having just bought a GWM Tank 300 in Australia. Just a little observation though is your use of "To be honest", what appeared to be about 30 times.
Apologies, that is a habit I'd like to break from. Need to find more transitions for a 2.5 hour video. Glad you enjoyed the video though and thanks for the feedback.
Feels that way, though it's not as simple as that. European buyers and Australia still need some convincing to buy Chinese cars, especially premium ones, so it'll take some time yet to really see big numbers of Chinese car companies in those markets, as it did for the Koreans before them, but these are much better than the Korean cars were when they first came out.
Exactly! That's what I love about it so much. Since the Scenic, maybe the Picasso, I don't think car makers have REALLY looked at practicality the way they used to. Maybe it became too expensive but ideas like the Renault Be Bop inspired me, as well as just how good our original Renault Megane Scenic was, and I've been waiting for a car maker to make full use of an EV platform to achieve that effect again. Finally it seems we have it.
In fact, it seems European people have change their mindset regarding practicallity in cars. Maybe because a family now has less children that in late 90's. But these car were really helpful in everyday's life.
Wow, thanks for the comprehensive tour. Fascinating range of cars from China, it will be interesting to see how things progress in the car market. Just a small gripe; a lot of the saloons take too many styling cues from Porsche or Tesla and a lot of the 4x4 style cars take cues from Land Rover and the G Wagen. A little more imagination and brand identity wouldn't go amiss. I think that could change and develop as these marques evolve and mature.
I hear this a lot but I don't really subscribe to the same thought. Did anybody complain about Mercedes when the G rocked up looking all square like a Defender? I doubt it. I agree there are a few where the positioning of the lights doesn't help the cause but come on, Tesla had big lights on the 3 and if anything they've now started copying the Chinese because the Highland has narrow headlights now but not a single person said anything about that. They even put ambient lights in and rear screens like the Chinese. Again, nobody complained. Lack of originality should be distributed equally. At least we can all agree they look a lot better than the Benz soap bars and the BMW pig faces.
I haven’t watched many videos on the Chinese cars as they are not yet available in the US apart from the Volvos. I knew there were a lot of companies and interesting cars, but I guess I thought there would be less now due to competition. If these cars get a reputation for reliability and can make it here for a reasonable price, it feels like it will be game over for the big automakers in terms of the EV market. The pickups look very interesting. Like what I wish Tesla had made instead of the Cybertruck.
Glad I could show you the full scale of what's going on here. It's a crazy market. The US is isolating itself from all this at the moment but that's not doing any favours for the US car makers themselves who need the competition to pick up their own level, and more for the consumer who gets a very limited choice by all accounts.
Thank you for that complete tour of the auto show. May be coz am a fan of Tesla😂 i see Tesla and other western brands in majority of those Chinese cars. But it's another chinese miracle moving a long long way from the Lifan i knew some 30 yrs ago.
Really insightful and comprehensive narrating, you seem to have wonderful knowledge of the Chinese market. Would you entertain guest at next years show? I'd love to visit but it would be a tad aimless wondering around without the background on each companies. I'm also intersted to hear how these cars are crash tested, are they safe?
Hi Mike. I'd be happy to give you a guide round next year. Shanghai is the biggest show in April so if you're around then that will be a bumper trip. If not, Chengdu and Guangzhou are the biggies. I'm a total Chinese market car nerd, no doubt.
Soooo, while driving down narrow lanes, tree limbs will often reach out over the road. The wire tethers often called ‘risers’ encourage the branch to go up and over the suv, rather than striking the vehicles windshield. That's that about that :)
Smartphone brand Xiaomi making EVs I find interesting. Huawei doesn't seem to have their own models, but their software such as HarmonyOS could become big in all kinds of areas including in cars.
Yes, Xiaomi have gone more hands-on with actually making their own, whereas Huawei make all the main components and software but leaving the car building to the pros.
For those looking for timestamps of the brands, check out the description, they're all there. Enjoy.
Thx brotha helped a lot!

Name a Chinese company, they probably have an EV. It's a gold rush, things will consolidate quickly.
@mariusvanc This coming from a guy who clearly doesn't know how many Chinese brands existed before electric cars became a thing.
Wonderful video! FYI Kia EV5 now on sale in Australia and coming to Europe.
About time. Nobody has bought it here.
Thanks for this huge complete report ! Zeekr MIX transformation capabilities remind me that first versions of Renault Espace were able to do that !
Just got home, will watch it tomorrow. However, can you make "chapters" inside the video?
Sure, they're in the description.
厉害了老哥!国内媒体上都没有像你这个时长的视频😂
Likely the only complete show walkthrough on the planet, and all without voice-over.
2:32:30 Could you tell us more about the buttons here? I can't seem to find FD0. I'm very interested in learning more about this tech. Thanks!
Yes, my apologies, I stated their name wrong. It's actually TG0, that last digit being a zero.
@@InsideChinaAuto Thank you. Quite interesting. Would love to see more on tech like that.
Thanks for the show,, from Toro,, Candada . Canada
No problem at all. Greetings to Canada.
Toro Candada Canada? Are you sure you're not a bot? 🤣🤣
Thank you for that complete tour of the auto show. May be coz am a fan of Tesla😂 i see Tesla and other western brands in majority of those Chinese cars. But it's another chinese miracle moving a long long way from the Lifan i knew some 30 yrs ago.
Oof, those Lifans were awful. The entire Chinese car industry is a miracle today compared to what came before.
Интересный подробный обзор автовыставки.
Glad you enjoyed it
Really insightful and comprehensive narrating, you seem to have wonderful knowledge of the Chinese market.
Hi sir the models outlook more polite compare to my country, absolute great approah
Not 100% certain what you're saying there but I'll say thank you and smile.
@@InsideChinaAuto i mean the organiser not use sexy model like other car expo
@mastergonggeng Aha, indeed. There are some on press day but they use much less. It's a modest car show.
2:25:49 YES, yes, THE BACK IS NICE TOO.
Think you're getting a bit too excited.
wow, it's cool
Crazy amount of choice
great video. i really enjoyed watching this, feels like i was at the car show myself
Glad you liked it.
8:02 the Nissan stand look so quiet...
Yup. Despite having the best-selling car in China, nobody wants to look at their three cars for sale and four concepts.
Soooo, while driving down narrow lanes, tree limbs will often reach out over the road. The wire tethers often called ‘risers’ encourage the branch to go up and over the suv, rather than striking the vehicles windshield. That's that about that :)
Awesome. Thank you so much. I was curious but I'm not much of an off-roader.
Awesome, thx 👍👍😁😁👌👌
You're welcome.
the hongqi's new series is amazing, worth looking forward to
Yeah, I'm looking forward to trying their new stuff.
Holy shit these colours!
How dare Xioami to launch with orange, purple and subtle light green.
Very bold of them
Smartphone brand Xiaomi making EVs I find interesting. Huawei doesn't seem to have their own models, but their software such as HarmonyOS could become big in all kinds of areas including in cars.
Yes, Xiaomi have gone more hands-on with actually making their own, whereas Huawei make all the main components and software but leaving the car building to the pros.
