The four-cylinder diesel unit in the new BMW X1 sDrive18d (fuel consumption combined: 5.5 - 4.9 l/100 km [51.4 - 57.6 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 145 - 129 g/km in WLTP cycle; NEDC cycle: - ) generates 110 kW/150 hp.
The surface treatment, lines and classy exterior design details of the BMW X1 display its Sports Activity Vehicle identity more clearly than ever in its third model generation. Distinctive design features include the powerful proportions, almost square wheel arch contours and the signature BMW X model styling of the front and rear ends.
The upright front end of the new BMW X1 gives it a much greater sense of presence, with slim LED headlights, a large, almost square BMW kidney grille, X-shaped lines radiating out to the sides and eye-catching chrome strips in the lower air intake serving as its defining elements. Adaptive LED headlights with matrix high beam, pulsating turn indicators and variable light distribution are available as an option.
Expressively sculpted surfaces and a long roofline are the distinguishing features of the new model’s dynamically stretched silhouette. When viewed from the rear, the slim tailgate window, horizontal lines, striking LED lights and flared wheel arches produce the typical SAV look.
The robust aura of the new BMW X1 can be intensified to great effect with the specific design elements of the xLine model, which include stylistic underride protection. The M Sport model also offered as an alternative to base specification places the focus firmly on dynamic driving pleasure with features such as its large cooling air inlets.
All model variants come as standard with 17-inch light-alloy wheels. 18-inch light-alloy wheels are fitted on xLine and M Sport cars, although these models are also available with 19-inch and - in a first for the BMW X1 - 20‑inch wheels. Customers can choose from two solid and ten metallic shades for the exterior paint finish - including a Frozen paint option from BMW Individual for the first time.
The new BMW X1 also treats its occupants to the latest-generation BMW iDrive multi-sensory vehicle experience in the form of the standard-fit BMW Live Cockpit Plus. Based on BMW Operating System 8, it comprises the BMW Curved Display with its state-of-the-art graphics and menu structure along with the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant that has now gained additional skills. The fully digital screen grouping is formed by the 10.25-inch information display and the control display with a screen diagonal of 10.7 inches. The new BMW iDrive is geared purposefully to providing intuitive touch and voice control. The broad-based digitalisation of the interior enables the number of physical buttons, controls and switches required for operation to be significantly reduced.

the big difference i see in the numerous newer x1 videos is that in the front cupholders... the European version do not have those adjustable clips that would hold smaller sized cups/bottles, while the Canadian/US pre production vehicles show the front cupholders have those so it may hold better the drink that is placed into the cupholder.

That's one hell of an upgrade. I hate the previous generation of the X1, everything looks so simple and cheap. Now it finally looks properly premium
the previous generation is very garbage compared to x3. This new one looks much better.
Thank you for the very detailed 2 part review of the X1. I realize that driving experience is a very personal matter but in your opinion is the adaptive M suspension worth the extra cost? If so, would you get the 19" or 20" wheels with that suspension? Well done reviews.
Adaptive suspensions are great and i will get 19 for better economy but 20 for look. If you have the money go with Adaptive Suspensions you will love it. If you are tight on budget 19 and No adaptive suspensions
@@SDADanCars Thank you!! I was able to see the X1 in person at the dealer today. I couldn't drive it because it was awaiting delivery to a customer but from what I saw, its a winner. I think I will get the adaptive suspension (M Sport line) and the 19" wheels.

Hi, I have a g21 320d xdrive and I will replace it with this exact model soon. How does this car compare to the 3 series, performance wise, considering this is a front wheel drive orizontally mounted engine platform?
Mmm hard to say...diferent class....not sure what you mean by performances...it has enough power for daily uses and even more. In terms of sporty driving 3 series will win

it really depends. If you prefer practicality and comfort, go x1 or x3. If you want something more sporty and better looking, go 4 series. Make sure you test drive both of them.

your parking skills at the end are second to none. The way you eased into such a tight space was incredible 😅. No really, was it appropriate to say how wonderful the car's parking ability is when you could easily park the Star Wars Death Star in that place? I own a 2020 X1, and I agree this is surely an even better car, but this review sounded more like a BMW ad than a review. What I look for in reviews is the negative points so I know what to look for and expect, but when a review is TOO positive it just bothers me a little. NO car is perfect. Sorry to be a little negative, I don't mean to downplay your effort. Please take it as constructive criticism.

12:24 --- You don't have to blur your speedometer.. Authorities can not use your own footages as proofs to give you a ticket.. at least this is how it works in Poland and I am pretty sure it applies to other countries as well.

Oh what a shame. but looking at it the infra red lights can be blanked out with tape. I wonder if that safety feature can be left off the options menu as well as the HUD. otherwise the car looks great.
The head up display can be turned off the other safety feature also. The inflation red you see it only on video camera in reality you can't see it
It is sweet but, I prefer my 2020 Ford Escape SE in black. My vehicle has a key pad on the driver’s side door. It is a smooth ride,too. It does come in different driving modes,too. I have been using Eco mode in driving. Even the color of the Escape is pretty sharp with the black grill. I felt liked driving a Porsche SUV. I also loved the Apple Car Play in it. It almost 3 times bigger than my iPhone SE 2020. I can start my vehicle by using my iPhone, Apple Watch SE, and even my iPod touch in pink. My last vehicle was a 2015 Ford Escape SE in silver grey. It died on me back in mid March 2022. I had that vehicle for almost 5 years. Mostly all of the vehicles that I had in the past were slightly used.

This car has more buttons, switches and visual displays than my high end gaming Desktop. The version that I picked up yesterday is gasoline and built for the US market.. the color is "frozen grey." The interior is two tone (Dark grey and red) hand stitched leather.I don't understand the "driving modes." I don't know how to turn off or if I can turn off the "gas saving engine stop" I live in a city and it doesn't work for me, to me, only annoying. The damned thing is stunningly beautiful inside and out. It does follow what I have always thought of the Bavarian equipment madel. We know best. You will do what we tell you and how we tell you to do it. I sometime regret that I have machines, from Nespressos, to Chrome books to this BMW that are smarter than I am Well. I do have a wife who is smarter than me and I have gotten used to it and just accept the benefits.
