    The talk about feeling guilty for gasoline engines, and digging in the ground for fuel.... As smart as Bisi is I have to believe he knows where lithium comes from.... And what about the disposal of bad batteries? The charging for the car come from fossil fuels. Im neither for or against electric cars. They are fast and I think that is awesome. But how much better are they in the end for the environment than gas or diesel cars?
    All that aside. Bisi is awesome and this is a great episode. The car is amazing. Anyone that thinks driving an electric car isn't as exciting as a gas powered car because the noise is different or quieter hasn't experienced it.....Jet power is different than internal combustion engine power but its still exciting.... And Im guessing that a rocket is exciting too. The fact that electric cars accelerate as fast as they do is just amazing.

    • @paulinadeluca9117
      @paulinadeluca9117 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I love gas cars and never want to give it up, but evs and their production still produce less environmental pollution. Because gas engines, car manufacturers, gasoline plants, and gasoline transporters,produce wayyy more environmental pollution in the end, it’s true. But still, I don’t ever want to give up gas.
      I would settle down with hybrids though. They still sound great, and consume wayyy less gas than regular. Plus that small gas engine in hybrids also charge the cars battery pack. So no real need to plug in the car and charge it at home or charging stations. Why go balls to the wall with a solution? Why not meet in the middle so that we can get the best of both worlds. Some of the best track cars are hybrids. They dominate almost all gas engines. EVs can theoretically get better performance, but it’s just not sustainable for convenience or longevity in the racing or performance world.
      The only way I’d ever be sold on buying an ev, is if the exhaust shot out sparks instead of flames like gas cars, and thundering exhaust sounds lol. It all comes down to the sound for me. Very very hard to beat the sound of a gas engine.

    • @paulinadeluca9117
      @paulinadeluca9117 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @One Two Three Incorporated yeah I agree with you. They shouldn’t ban perfect drivable ice vehicles. If anything, if it’s seriously an environmental concern, (which is very hard to believe the politicians that push that idea) they still shouldn’t scrap it. If anything slowly phase them out.
      I’d think this is fair.
      1) Do not ban ICE vehicles, but maybe stop producing 100% IC engines from whichever point in time on. Let people keep their ICE vehicles, sell them around, do whatever they want with them, but just stop producing new ones.
      2) Begin phasing in HEVs, and EVs.
      3) if that’s still really not good enough for our environment, do the same as step 1, but with HEVs instead of ICEs.
      Whoever wants to keep their old gas engines keep it. But new cars can only be bought as hybrids or full electric. So older gas engine models would fairly be grandfathered in.

    Few inaccuracies here with the electric car in the interview. One glaring issue is the subject of a battery fire. With a Li-ion battery, if one of the cells does combust and is put out, the fire most likely has damaged the cells around where the fire is. Once those are damaged, they become a time bomb until they combust (i.e. thermal runaway). This starts a long term domino effect of damaging cells each time a fire occurs which effectively equates the battery pack to scrap. This is one property of Li-ion batteries and a real issue and part of why airlines do not want battery powered devices in the cargo holds of planes during flights. I am not getting on electric vehicles, but making a statement where you equate gasoline to a flammable liquid and make it sound like a bomb and then make a blanket statement of "turn off the battery and the fire will stop (paraphrasing here, not literal quoting)," is inaccurate and grossly underestimating how violent a li-ion battery fire can be. All this being said, He did a quality job on the build and hoping he gets more orders. He does an amazing job with all his projects.

    Re: Rear brake light actuation. I have a system on my '94 Lexus SC300 and also on my 2001 Ford E-350 Supervan called a "Saf-T-Braker". It is a circuit with an accelerometer that flashes the rear third brake light if the vehicle decelerates at 0.3 G or greater. Those were installed years ago and I was unable to find it available more recently. On both my '12 Jeep Wrangler and '19 Kawasaki Concours 14 I have a simpler device that flashes the third brake lights on first application of the brakes but then reverts to continuous lighting. On a related note, the Concours also has an aftermarket front headlight (dual) modulator that cycles the brightness from about 30% to full. Obviously, it is for daylight use only. There is a photocell in the circuit that disables the effect when the ambient light level drops to twilight levels. The cycle rate is variable but I have it set to about 2 Hz. It definitely makes the bike more visible to oncoming traffic. The modulator is U.S. DOT approved and is legal in all 50 states and Canada.

    Anything this guy builds is just amazing, he truly is an engineering master. Ev will never replace the sense and feel you get from a gas engine but i love seeing these older cars being switched over, way better looking than anything these companies are building today! What is sad is the loss of human life around the world due to the mining of the minerals for these batteries, and most ppl have no idea how many kids and ppl die in 3rd world countries digging cobalt for pennies so we can feel good driving EV cars! Not so good for the world when you realize that!

    • @jefffaller8474
      @jefffaller8474 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I love how so many people have a conscience all of a sudden around the toll automobile manufacturing has on people, civilizations and the environment now that we've been mining minerals from the earth globally for roughly a billion automobiles over the last 125 years while polluting our atmosphere daily with vehicle emissions.
      As an EV owner, i'm not automatically an environmentalist, its not even why I bought my EV; however, I have no doubt that we are just at the beginning of a battery technology revolution. Look at your smart phone and wonder how did we get here? what was the jump that allowed batteries to get smaller and more powerful while lasting days?, How did I end up with the combined knowledge of the world accessible in the palm of my hand when the "brick" phone of 1989 seemed like the pinnacle of phone technology. Personally, I can look beyond the here and now, and see that the future is already looking beyond Nickle, cobalt and lithium batteries and EV companies are doing their R&D already. There's companies and entirely new industries that are going to be created by this transformational shift in personal transportation while others are going to go by the wayside like the buckboard and wooden spoke maker.

    • @CockatooDude
      @CockatooDude 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      While I do agree that cobalt and lithium mining is not done very ethically right now, we must also balance this with the fact that carbon monoxide and other harmful emissions from the fossil fuel industry are responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths worldwide, every year due to bad air quality in many places.

      EV is the technology of the future. (Fossil) ICE is the technology of the past. So yes, there are problems because the battery technology is not mature yet. That is one reason why am delaying buying an EV for as yet. However, that can and will be solved, from which point on we will have clean and renewable energy for incredibly fast, easy and smooth cars. Hydrogen ICE may be a worthy competitor, because hydrogen can also be produced from renewable energy.

      If I'm just driving a car on a track day for fun, I can promise you by 100 track miles I'm going to want a break that's at least 36 minutes long lol. For a fast track toy, a 100 mile range of hard use is amazing when you consider the charging time is that short. Sure one couldn't do an endurance race in one, but a big race team could easily afford two and charge one while the other is out.

    I've seen quite a few "streetable" 935s over the years. Typically, they look all wrong because the stance/tire size is changed in the hopes of making the car more practical on the street. This particular car nails the stance and appearance of an actual 935K3. Not sure how practical it would be to drive on the street, but it definitely looks the part.

    The irony about the Betamax vs VHS battle, is that it may has been lost by Sony (Betamax) to Panasonic (VHS) in the consumer market, but it was actually won in the professional much more lucrative business, as it evolved into the Betacam system, which became the de facto standard for professional TV reporting crews in the late 80’s and 90’s. Panasonic never caught up. VHS won the consumer marketing battle, and it’s not a question of manufacturing cost as the system are mechanically very similar. It’s the electronics that made Beta image quality better.
