    Carvins Cove is a great trail system. Really cool to see it continue to be recognized and promoted.

    Those of us who have active mountain bike communities are very lucky. Looks like a great place to visit.

    Any one reading this who knows of videos with the "beast" trail over in the Virginia Tech area should paste some links here for me. I was hoping to see it. I used to ride it about 22 years ago before I got crippled and I'd love to see it again. Thanks!

      We call that one jacob's ladder! A lot of really sweet illegal trails around blacksburg too if you can find them.

    I'm 2yrs late to this vid 🤣 Trying to get back into biking and I'm in VA....what kinds of 'budget' (aka $3k range) full sus MTBs do you guys recommend for this area's janky topography?

    • @mikehc6159

      @@T-rick Thanks for the suspension tip! As for pink bike, I've been scouring those listings for the last few days...I've sent so. many. messages. 🤣 Just so hard to decide on something! I'd love to get a '19 Ripmo but finding a Large in good condition for less than $4k is sorta tough.

      Michael H honestly you don’t need that much travel for the noke. The giant trance 29 or 27.5 is a great bike. As well as the specialized stumpjumper st and trek fuel. But if you are looking for something with bigger travel, the ibis ripmo af is a good buy. You can get giant and specialized bikes at Cardinal bicycle, Trek bikes at east coasters, and ibis bikes at downshift cycles. And if you aren’t looking to buy new you can always check the local craigslist for used bikes.

      yeah same!😂 Your lucky you have the budget of $3k I have one bike and I got it used for $120. It's a trek 820 and I love it.

      Look at canyon ( only because yt is sure to be out of stock...if not snag one of those) and you can't go wrong with a santacruz or Kona in that price range

    How’s the weather in early to mid august? Coming from Metro Detroit where we get 90+ degree humid days relatively often during the summer months.

    Can you ride this trail with a hardtail with 26” wheels? I don’t have the cash to throw down on a 3K and up full sue bike

    • @sapinva
      @sapinva 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Of course you can. Legs and arms are full suspension if they are up to it.

      Most of us first time down go around a lot of the big jumps. Make sure your brake pads are good.

    Not sure how that's rated a double black diamond. There is some sick riding in the NC/VA/WV/MD/PA corridor.

    • @ThisGuyRides
      @ThisGuyRides 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's all relative to the area, like double black ski slope in VA is like blue out west.

    • @bricycles1389
      @bricycles1389 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, it's all relative. I think that per Carvin's Cove, the speeds on this trail coupled with some jumps and the tighter corridor make it one of the riskier trails. But compared to a double black at a place like Whistler or Angel Fire, or even the trails in nearby backcountry, it doesn't pose much of a risk.

      @@danervin2530 Elizabeth Furnace/Bear Wallow/Figure 8 of Hate; that’s real east coast riding. Now let’s ride at night in a sleet storm.
