Carvins cove is my favorite place to ride. I’m from NJ and have ridden in top spots all over the country including Moab, and bentonville. Nothing beats the heart love and soul/tender love and care that went into building carvins.
Nice... I knew there was a reason I liked your channel so much. Anyone from Roanoke is just a good person. Met a guy on the trails who moved from near Beckley to Salem and was telling me how nice the trails were down there. I definitely have to make a visit. I almost forgot... don't watch BKXC's video on his Roanoke visit. hehe
Haha, vetted by proximity! I'm really glad you enjoy the channel so much, that always makes my day to hear. As for the BKXC video, now I feel like I have to go watch it. hahaha!
just moved to Emporia, VA flat farmland 13 months ago. I have been there 3 times already. I love this place! Local motels are as low as 59 dollars a night. Pedaled 4 days straight in November. It's 3.5 hours to get back home. Nice video. :)
Hell yeah, glad the city managed to get the easement on the land. Its a finite resource and once its privatized and developed there ain't no going back. Sick video, those drone shots were awesome.
Great video highlighting Carvins! It is a little jewel for sure. Gaunlet is my fav trail there hands down with Royalty next. Gaunlet roots get gnarlier every year which is so good! The down/upside is Bburg development has grown like crazy, so it's real hard to want to travel up there haha! But I'll be getting back soon once the wrist is a little better off and able to handle the gnar. Shred on!
About to head back to my hometown area first the first time with my bike. Been living in Arkansas for 9 years where I learned to love MTBing. Super excited to ride The Cove
We will definitely have more racing footage in the future, but I decided to take the filming element out of the few races I’ve done this year just to let me focus on getting my head game back. I miss doing those episodes though.
Honestly, I have yet to check out Rattlin'. I'd love to get more time up there in the future to do so. I am also anxious to get out and see all of the changes at Pandapa's. I've got a buddy that's done lots of work up there and the stoke is high. I hear Blunderbus is a blast.
@@SemiSendy Rattlin is a special kind of technical - slow rock tech - different from anything else at Carvins - if you can clean even half of it in one run you’re a magician… Pandapas is on my list too - heard the same awesome things
@@FoCoFlowShow I will definitely have to give rattlin' a go. Do you know anything about Rock'n'Roll at Carvins? I saw a photo of it once and was curious. On trail forks it shows it possibly being located on the other side of the reservoir off happy valley, but the trail itself isn't marked on there, just the trail name randomly floating just north of Happy Valley Rd. I'm wondering if it's worth pedaling over that way for since I usually stick to the Brushy Mtn. runs.
@@SemiSendy yea - RnR is a machine built flow trail that’s above Happy Valley - past Arrowhead if your on the FireRoad coming from Songbird … Its pretty mellow and you actually have to pedal for a lot of it so it’s not on my “must ride” list - especially since it’s clear on the other side of all of the other epic stuff out there
Rattlin’ is like a rocky trials course. I’ve only been to the Cove once a few years ago. Only had 3-4 hours so stayed on the upper trails. Good video. Now I know where to ride and have to get back soon. EVMA does trips there.
I saw you filming this on the Trough. I just wanted to say you created a great video!!! Gauntlet is my favorite trail as well. My favorite loop is Trough, Buck, Midway, up Hi De Hoe, OG, Gauntlet. Roanoke is an awesome place to live and mtb. Next time you are in VA check out Hooch trail at Bryce Bike Park, it is a handful.
Legend has it a local sign manufacturer designed and built it with his sons in 1949 intended as a christmas decoration, and it just ended up sticking around. The city has always kept it up and even switched up color displays for various significant events. They use to light it up red on evenings when someone was killed in a DUI accident as an awareness beacon. I also remember them lighting it up red, white and blue for the first time when roanoke was awarded all-american city.
Thanks, Charlie! I don’t think I’ll be able to make it to Bobopalooza. I’ve been getting slammed with a heavy amount of work travel until mid December.
how difficult is the gauntlet trail. The sign says double black but i seen some videos say that different trail apps classify it as a blue. In your opinion what should the difficulty rating be
Trail ratings are really relative to the system itself and it depends on what you’re comparing it to, but I would personally give it more of an intermediate rating. There’s nothing on it that is a mandatory feature or truly constitutes a black rating. I say give it a go!
im about 50 miles from roanoke, glad to see a video from a local!! also the trough is a fun but pretty damn tough climb!!

It truly is a special place.
I'm getting some serious drone envy right now! Beautiful shots. I love all the color change on the trees out there. So rad!
It's been a beautiful fall here!
Good stuff buddy 🤘
You guys both inspire me so much🤧🤧
Thanks, Bobo! 😎👌
Heck yeah, Sploosh MTB 🤘

Stellar video shots. Well done. Carvin's rules. Happy trails, - r

Great video!!! LOVE CARVINS!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Love your story telling in the introduction. Great production mate, enjoy your 2022 season!
Thanks, you too!

That is awesome! There's so much more stuff around Roanoke now too, lots too explore if you'll be back there for a while.
@@SemiSendy I was able to ride Carvins Cove 3 times! If yall are ever in Arkansas, HMU if ya need a tour. Mount Nebo is a can’t miss
Very nice video, loved seeing a new place featured. Looks really fun classic single track.
Definitely classic in all of the ways that you would hope for!
Always good. The rides and the music!
Thank you, Pairforce1!
Awesome man! I didn’t grow up in Roanoke but I live here now and the cove is where I go just about every weekend.
Heck yeah! Ali and I checked out Dody Ridge for the first time a few weeks prior and that was a blast. I'd never ridden it before.
@@SemiSendy haven’t ridden Dody. Just googled it tho and looks like fun.
Thanks! I’m riding this today… I have never ridden in Roanoke before looking forward to it
Hope you enjoyed it!
I'm taking a month or two mountain bike / whitewater vacation next spring when I retire. After seeing your video I've added it to my itinerary.
Heck yeah. Definitely a great stop to add. Cheers to your upcoming retirement!
Again. Nice video. Thanks to you I'll have to take a little road trip to Roanoke😃😃
You won’t regret it
Greta video! Can't wait to hit the Cove.

hope to see you on the trail !!!
That’s right! 🤘😀
Always enjoy rides at the Cove. Great video 🤘
🤘☺️
I went here recently and spent a lot of time on OG jumpline. While the upper half of OG has seen better days, the bottom half was AMAZING.
Nice video!
Great, now I want to go ride, but I’m stuck at work😂
2 hours from us so hopefully we can hit this soon!
Oh nice, that’s super close to you guys. You’ll love it for sure. There’s some other high-quality rides in the area as well.
🤙 I learn so much from your videos!!! Merci🤟

Love Carvins - I’ve done a few vids on my channel as well - I’d like to see someone breakdown Rattlin Run other than Jeff Lenoski

Beautiful trails. Glad to see the Hightower still making an appearance. Hard to beat a solid all-mountain bike.
Over 2 years strong, such an incredible bike.
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it, Yohannes! 🙏
@@SemiSendy I went out and enjoyed the gauntlet and hi dee ho. Worth all the climbing!
Rode gauntlet myself yesterday and the leaves made it sketchy hiding roots and rocks!!
I bet they were thick this week!
That Dropframe though!
It’s my favorite helmet to use with goggles for cooler rides. Super comfy.

What time of the year, what month did you do this ride?
I filmed this right at the very beginning of November.

Heck yeah!
several decades?
Dating myself a bit....haha.
