Adding the instagram comments to the video is genius
One thing to note, when you are draining diffs/transmissions etc, anything with a drain bolt, you always want to make sure that the top fill bolt will come loose. In the event, that its seized, you will have a hell of a time refilling that dif. I learned this the hard way.
Exactly!!!
the oil filter clip also blew up on tiktok lmao, saw it pop up on my fyp! hope it brings more traffic to your youtube :)
Haters will hate, some of em probably take there vehicles to Walmart for oil changes. I have personally used the screw driver method when the filter is way way to tight. No big deal... keep up the great content...
Amazing how many people think oil filters need to be torqued to 1000 ft lbs. way to make light of the situation. Glad to see you’re doing the simple things to make sure the car is maintained.
Loving the content lately. Happy to have you back in the WRX space, keep the content coming!
Insta is a straight up dumpster fire!
I seriously don't know how you do it but I'm glad you do.
I enjoy watching your videos, they are great. Keep the good work. Simple maintenance videos will help new Subi owners when it comes to them doing work on their cars. Plus, you help out the community.
(current 04 STi owner)
Those instagram comments are hilarious 😂 I guess they haven't ever had to deal with a seized filter before. It happens
That was a maintenance day!!!! Ignore the hate; must of them probably can't even drive your WRX. Keep enjoying it.
I just use large channel lock pliers any time I come across a filter like that. Works like a charm
Nice, just did my first oil change this week on my 18 base wrx . With the Rotella shell 😎🤩
Great video! Can’t wait for this build to unfold
Thank you Cody for the video. I need to do the transmission and differential fluid in a few months. Things like the tube that let's you add fluids with the bottle sideways I didn't know about.
for buttmunch installed oil filters like that, they make a nice little 3 armed wrench that tightens into the filter as you crank on it. faster, easier, better than a screwdriver.
I hope you go through and paint all the yellow caps black like you did before, that looked clean af
I would love to know the history of that WRX. 😆 Well done!
No hate. Super funny and necessary upkeep. I'm so glad you humanize your experiences. Makes me feel normal.
youre good man, dont worry about the nonsense from the mouth breathers... the new filter literally had a subaru emblem.. again... mouth breathers.
Thumbs up for the hard luck kid!
*discovers ferro-fluid in the transmission* Oohh, fun!
Lol the amount of metal on the drain plug is completely normal for a 70,000 mile car so it didn't concern me. And ferro fluid is cool and thought some people might be interested in it
Screwdriver is legendary
11:08 Just a thought anytime you go to do a Fluid Exchange / Drain and Fill or anything like that Please
check and make sure you can open the Fill Ports first before you drain any fluids because if any of those
Fill Ports were as TIGHT as that Oil Filter you could end up making or saying way worse noises / words
That's a very solid tip. And honestly I normally do pull the fill plug first just so it drains easier, but I didn't even think about doing it for this reason. Thank you!
It's probably a good idea to check the spark plugs. Subaru recommends changing at 60k.
I did those as well just haven't gotten around to editing that video yet
WOW a gorilla tightened that oil filter. What a beast whoever tighten it like that.🙁
Great tutorial video. Thank you for sharing. 😁
Tips. Diff you should get the 13mm square drive socket using the 1/2 head can strip the bolts. Second always remove the fill port first. If you open the drain but the fill port bolt is seized your fucked
I've lost count of how many filters I've removed with a screwdriver, before I purchased the proper tools after getting pissed off at the inevitable mess. :D
Idk why you got hate for oil filter removal. Sometimes a gorilla worked on your car and you need some smarts to fix the issue. Screwdriver works as a last resort, no harm done.
fax lol, I bought a used Fiesta ST and my first oil change was HELL. Barely any space to get your hand in there first, so you can barely get any leverage, had to use the screwdriver for the first time ever after like an hour😂
Big facts!
Based comment section
Bro internet is amazing fucking keyboard experts 🤬🤬…great vid bro😊
Toddler arms for sure but that’s not a big deal. Still able to shift past first gear.
Fun fact I spent a whole year working out with one of my best friends who was a body builder. Had a high protein diet and did every workout they told me to do. After a full year I didn't gain a single pound and gave up. I don't mind my average arms.
DID I MISS AN UPDATE REGARDING THE BRICKED VB?? I WAS REALLY ENJOYING THAT BUT THEN POOF..GONE..R U STILL WAITING FOR A ECU OR DID YOU SELL THE CAR?
If you dont have notifications turned on for my videos the youtube algorithm only shows you stuff sometimes. I posted a bunch of videos after that! Heres all the videos on my VB! th-cam.com/play/PLkLzjS5-NHqmIuzhEzQoA5EkR8B6k9qlo.html&si=QOvNKqgTtJFEkR77
LMFAO😂😂😂😂 the comments section of the Vid was epic!!!! Been following you for years! You are epic.
Wait what happened to his VB??
gotta agree I was laughing my ass off with the comments - added bonus we all got to hear your sex voice!
Any plans on doing a wrap instead of repaint? I know you tried on your VB, might be a good chance for redemption
Never 😂 I've tried wrapping so many times, and I just can't get it lol might be cheaper material, but I don't want to risk trying more expensive stuff and still mess it up. Plus I've been painting for a living for 10 years so that just makes most sense to me. Knowing I'll get a decent result!
@@StreetInspired1 that’s fair!
14:51 Walnut blasting is hell, whole top come apart. Took me better part of a weekend, and needed help recovering egr cooler bolt/gasket because i am a dummy. I waited too long around 80k 🥲 its fineee. I just wish my car had no EGR and Did have port injection like the brz. Gonna start using Techron with oil changes since the FA nasty egr Fart breathin. Are you installing an AOS later? *would love 2 see how u tackle Dash HU/AOS/rear body
I'm definitely not looking forward to it lol. My 2020 wrx had no egr or tgv and was on ethanol it's whole life, so the thing stayed super clean, but I'm scared to pull this thing apart and see all the carbon built up. I do plan on doing catch cans or aos!
sometimes i wonder about this guy.
Never remove your drain bolt before the fill bolt.
I want see carbon fiber drive shaft in this car
I probably won't. I installed a carbon driveshaft on my 2020 wrx and it wasn't worth the money at all on a street car.
Forget what the haters was talking bout. They don't know what monkey put the old 1 on either. Definitely was way to tight it shouldn't have been that ridiculous and I'm the same size as you.
Do you still have the VB?
No I don't
Man, that hate comment section was quality.
The keyboard warriors had a lot to say about your oil filter 🤣🤣
they were right about the turning it too far. there's instructions on the filter with markings, telling you only turn to +2 marking from when the filter starts touches the plate. he turned it about +4 or +5, this is how you have to break out the screwdriver to get the filter off.
Undo the fill plugs first!
I typically do but I have a huge drain pan so none of it made a mess besides a little on my hand
@@StreetInspired1is gp so in case the fill plug 2 tight or strip’d u aren’t left in bind where u have empty diff and No way to re-fill…don’t matter that much really.
@@CourtesyToot 100% good advice.
Yoooo, heheheh, wassup with the comments broo. Hater @ ninjas. I’m so sorry you had all that hate. And Walmart stuff is aight. I have some tools from them. It’s budget friendly and helps save to buy more car parts😝 aye no but Jesus that filter seemed too on there. Your veins were bursting brotha😅 have you used liqui moly 5w40?
