  • Rushing with our Miller Industries, Century 1150R rotator towing & recovery unit to assist a customer who had a driver that ran off the road, nearly hit a utility pole, did hit two cars, and stopped just short of hitting a house. Nobody was injured, thank Heaven. Also, using a new "TOOL" from my toolbox, a 1-1/2" X 30" Yankum Rope. Let's put it to the test...Tator VS Stuck Semi... Thanks for watching and God bless. www.paypal.me/RotatorRon

    A TH-camr "Matt's Off Road Recovery" uses those Yankem Ropes almost exclusively to yank stuck 4x4s out of the desert/sand dunes of southern Utah. Seems to work well.

      My buddy has the 74k and the one above it. He's yanked out fully loaded semis before with his 3/4 ton truck and one with his 1/2 ton truck. Had to give a couple good yanks on it

    • @wssides
      @wssides 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@knuffelbaer1971 The "yank" is applied relatively slowly as the energy of weight x motion of the pulling vehicle is applied to the stretching rope which applies it to the towed vehicle spread out over a longer time. Like the difference between an explosion and a burn- same energy but different speed.

    I love the guy who owns this sand company. I recall a while back one of his trucks went off the roadway loaded, and he was insistent after you got him back on the road that he continue to deliver his load before getting the truck fixed.
    Now he's out here taking care of this one. Its easy to see why you say you'll show up anywhere anytime to help him out!

  • @daveyburgess
    @daveyburgess 3 ปีที่แล้ว +67

    I'm ex-British Army, we had kinetic tow ropes for the Chieftain tanks back in the late 70's, they worked great for pulling out an 80 ton tank that was up to it's bellyplate in mud! Back the recovery tank up as close as possible, hitch up two recovery lines, then take off at full throttle! Popped out like a cork out of a champagne bottle! That was the problem though, the towing vehicle had to get out of the way fast!!
    The way they work is that the towing vehicle applies energy to the rope, and the faster it moves, the more energy it applies. That energy is then transferred to the towed end of the rope and can equal almost double the original input energy due to the rope being stretched up to 30% and snapping back!

    Just wanted to say that I liked your comment re: Ethan's hat, because I cringed when I first saw it.... Not because of the name on it or the party that it represents, but because of the comments that I can only imagine would be coming your (and more unfortunately your son's) way. I'm not a huge fan of Trump, and I'm an atheist, but the first day that I watched one of your videos, I loved how you were unapologetic about your own faith, but also entirely understanding and equally welcoming of those with different beliefs.
    Show up when called or needed, execute the mission in the best, smartest, most effective, and--most importantly--safest way possible, regardless of any characteristic that another may or may not have.... If your approach to your business and your family and life in general isn't the epitome of the American way, then I don't know what is, Ron!

      Your comment means a great deal to me and I appreciate it more than you know. I get a lot of haters on here and the hat certainly has brought more to the table. It is what it is. I am not a judgmental person, at least I don't think I am. I respect all and know that I do not hold the only opinions about politics, religion and such. When I begin to doubt things, comments such as yours bring me a bit of hope that not all get offended and not all judge. Again thank you and I wish you well.

    Interesting to see another way (other than Mat's Off Road Recovery!) of using one of those ropes. Another useful tool for you, Ron!

    Man you couldn’t slice a piece of cheese thinner than the way he missed those anchor wires for that pole. Well done driver and hats off to you Ron and The Midwest team!!!

      Yep, I thought that too. In Ron's videos, some of the driving (by others, not Midwest) has been pretty sketchy. This guy did a tidy job and was smart enough to take Ron's help at the right point.👍

    YANKUM is a KERS system, Kinetic Energy Recovery System, originally developed for the military. It is very good at putting energy into the item you want recovered. The only downside for the sort of work Ron does is that his recoveries are all about control, and when you put that amount of energy in sometimes the item 'yanked' just goes where it wants. Definitely has its uses, but probably less for Ron than for Matt.

    Good and quick. I was surprised to see David. He's so respectful and well mannered. Just like he said to Ron, you had no way of knowing. He wasn't upset for making an unnecessary trip. What happened to the sirens for running code?
