  • Using our Miller Industries, Century 1150R Rotator to lift a Mitsubishi Mirage out of a drainage ditch after it ran off the interstate barely missing a guardrail, while working in a thunderstorm and under high voltage overhead power lines. This one has ALL the elements that my viewers love!!! Also some pretty cool shots of some lightning. Thanks for watching and God bless.

To answer a few of the most common questions.... Could we have waited until after the storm and worked the following morning in the daylight?? Yes, we could have, however, as I stated in the video, the drainage ditch fills very quickly. Had we left the car in the ditch, it would have gotten flooded and would have been a total loss. As it was, the owner was able to drive the car away after a wash and popping a few plastic panels back into place. Where is Mike? Mike still works for us and continues to do the same jobs. David is training so you will see him with me more often than you will see Mike with me for a while. Mike can handle many jobs on his own. I believe David will soon be handling jobs on his own as well. He is bright and a quick learner who seems to have a gift for this job. Yes, this is the same location where we recovered a new Harley Davidson motorcycle a while back. Thanks for watching and God bless.

Really with those who've asked about the situation being the "same spot" would have simply just Paid Attention to the whole video, then they would not have missed the subtitle at 18:50 mentioning such about that.

Great job Ron and David. One thing with the tag line be careful wrapping it around your hand, if the load should let loose you don't want to go for a ride with it. Also be cognizant of where the rest of the line is, saw David with it between his legs again if something terrible happened you don't want to be tied up in it. You do an excellent job keeping the load low but sometime you cant help but have a high lift, such as taking the car out of the ditch.

Man!!! I had a shivers running up and down my spine with every lightning bolt!!!! The power lines over head made this a vvvvvvvvvvery dangerous job. Truth be told you don't have to be the tallest thing, you just have to be the most grounded thing. Also if any of the power lines were to be hit by lightning it could jump to the mast. After all with the cribbing being wet the truck could have been the most grounded thing in the area. This is why crane operations have to stop with lightning in a ten mile radius. ( The rotator and the Western Star are crane really.)

I never thought I would end up subscribing and being a fan of a towing service on TH-cam. The bottom line is that content done well, whatever the subject matter, is a pleasure to watch. Thanks Ron for giving us an alternative to the hyped up and fake "reality" content. It just goes to show that love, tolerance, professionalism, and authenticity can cut through all the junk that has invaded the internet and television. While I have nothing against the occasional swearing or slang, it is refreshing to see it demonstrated that it isn't really necessary. I also love the way Ron presents his Christian faith; While I don't share that faith, I don't mind when Ron mentions prayer or other aspects of his spirituality because he includes no judgement when he brings it up. Once again, great video!

Ron, So glad to see this job done successfully and safely. You went fishing and caught your catch and though they were present you avoided contact with both of your "ARC" nemeses (power lines and their side kick lightning). Glad the only casualties were a few pairs of gloves and that poor hard hat (may they R.I.P.). Glad David is doing good. Now, get that boy a hardhat with a Halo and also get him a Guardian Angel. Also a rain shield for the hard hat GoPro would help some. Stay safe and keep up the great work during these times. May got bless and protect the team at Midwest Truck and their families.

I owned one, the same color and everything. A blue lifted Jeep Wrangler pulled out from a stop sign in a parking lot and nailed me on the driver's side. It crushed my car like a tin can and shoved it into the grass. When I came to, she was pulling on the door handle but I had to crawl out of the passenger side; the driver door would not budge. $4300 in damage. Needless to say, I bought a more substantial vehicle shortly afterwards.

@@ChickenC0re Good to hear your cheap, little Mirage helped you survive a nasty accident. The fact you walked away from such an impact shows that this low cost, basic, little buzz-box of a car is pretty well engineered. I have seen folks survive an accident in a small car like this which reduced it to looking like a squashed can but have also seen folks in bigger cars die when the car almost looked repairable. Good engineering, seat belts and airbags will usually do better than simple size and weight. Hope you never have to go through that again.

Nothing quite like tugging on metal cables attached to a mobile lightning rod during a thunderstorm. Fun fact Lightning can leap up to 5 miles away from the cloud generating it.

    • @xheralt
      @xheralt 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

While I was in the Army, decades ago now, we got hit with a lightning storm while on a training exercise, camped out on big flat plateau near Pueblo, Colorado...and it was my turn to refuel the generator that powered our mobile workshop! So there I was, out in the storm, keeping a tight physical connection between the hose and generator fill tube (no spark gap if we got hit), with a fuel HEMMTT standing off to the side at the maximum reach of its hose. I didn't _see_ the lightning strike itself, it was behind me, but flash-to-bang was damn near zero. At least it wasn't close enough for me to _feel,_ no raised arm hairs, so it wasn't THAT close...but, you gotta do what you gotta do. Finished the job and got back inside the shop trailer unharmed.

Miller Industries should offer for their console like a pull out cover for sun and water to redirect away. Might want to tell them that. Would be like a mesh type even so you just pull it out when needed.

Over a $1m worth of high-tech equipment on the job and it still comes down to some poor soul standing in a bush in the rain, heaving on a rope. 😁
The more I watch your videos Ron, the more I'm impressed with your weather forecast systems over there. Ours are totally unreliable and, as such, we would never really pay much heed to them. When you guys said "We've got about 45 minutes before the rain gets worse" and *it did* - that was pretty impressive. Here in the Scottish Highlands, we use a very simple system: "If you can see the hills, it's going to rain; if you *can't* see the hills, it's raining." It's a primitive system, but about 85% accurate.😂
That extra camera captured some excellent footage, despite the weather.👍
I know you don't take a dram Ron and, even if you did, you couldn't when you're "on call"; so what do you look forward to when you get in out of the rain?
    Cheersfor now,
    Dougie.

Again, Greetings to all from Ohio ..... And again, kudos on a job well done.... perfectly, professionally and safely in every respect. God's Blessings for all that you do .... It seems that 'mother nature's impeccable timing' is always right there on the spot! Previous rain, impending rain, lightning, and to make matters worse, the bio-hazardous water and the overhead lines!! Once again, His hand was upon you, keeping you protected. I agree with the earlier viewer's post .... that David seems to be a great addition to the Midwest staff. He seems to, like you, always be thinking ahead, planning his work, then working his plan.
To Ron, his family, the rest of the staff at Midwest, and to your many viewers and subscribers, stay safe and well!! May God richly Bless and keep each and everyone!!
