I'm sitting here, tears streaming down my face, for dear God, how I wish John Denver's dream had come true. I'm weary of war, of hate, of children and mothers and daddys dying, of corruption, of evil, of lies and deceit. If only this one dream of all dreams ever dreamed would come true. God bless you John, you were the greatest visionary humanity ever had.
The Spirit and Soul of this amazing human being is an inspiration to all humanity. It's a great pity the world still doesn't 'get it'... How wonderful would it be to live in a peaceful world. You, your beautiful voice and kind loving Spirit are so missed.
I'm crying so hard now. I graduated HS when this was recorded, in 1982. I'm almost 58 now and his heart, God given talent and amazing presence for his limited time on this earth so astounds me more as the years go by. Still as relevant and even more so than ever. OMG, I miss him. I first fell in love with his voice, words and entire existence when I was 10 years old, babysitting to get money to buy his albums. John, missed today more than ever and looking forward to reuniting in heaven!
who says he isn't, after hearing him on the PBS special a couple nights ago when he did this poem and then it's about time, there are no oops in life, who else could deliver such a heartwarming song with so much meaning, and when it would do the most good, so many need to hear those words!! he never knew how talented he was, or how he would feel about what is happening in the world today he may not be here, BUT HIS SPIRIT IS!!! he has the best seat in the house, and i think our father is using this man to deliver that very important message!! all i can say JOHN WE MISS YOU!!! RIP!!! and ps listen to his recording of Healing time on earth the story behind that song will give you chills, it was written about 5 years before his death, coincidence? NO again there are no oops in life!! think about it!
My husband and I have started a new first of the day and end of the day ritual. We listen to John saying the Peace Poem when we are just waking up in the morning and just falling asleep at night. Quite a peaceful way to open and close the day. With hopes of living with the peace message through out the day.
John Denver's beautiful poem and song.."Peace". Let us all join together and pray for war and violence to cease. His lyrics are so poignant and uplifting. He is showing us the way...Lord, make me an instrument of peace.on earth.
What a great message!!!!! I am constantly reminded that he reached so many people of diverse backgrounds and interests with his music and different musical genres that he wrote ... in a style that only John Denver could perform.. If only he were with us today (2016) maybe he could write and perform some music that would communicate a need to bring people of diverse political and religious factions together instead of always confronting each other. Like John, I am a pilot myself, I just love his version of "The Higher We Fly". He took John Gillespie McGee Jr.'s poem "High Flight" -- added a chorus and performs it in a way that communicates a message of peace, togetherness, and love. What's so wrong with that??????
one of my favorite songs of his. i discovered it after he died. everytime i hear his music it hits me another way. as the years go by, he still lives in new unseen ways in my heart. long live his music.
John Denver may be gone from this earthly plane of existence, but not all his good works. They will live on in his music, his deeds and all of us who were touched by him.
If only the good folks could become our leaders, instead of all the corrupted people. They remind me of toddlers in a big sandbox fighting over a ball, they need to learn that it it is a lot more fun to share it and be good to it as well each other. But they never seem to realize that. God bless you,John, if only you were with us in person, but you are in your songs, we just need to listen, and help carry out this vision.
aw... I still miss John til this day... he is one of my earliest and most treasured musical influences and my VERY FIRST album ever... he was an Amazing singer, songwriter, Earthsteward and caretaker of all things living wild and free... as it should be... I have MANY favorite singers/groups, songwriters, but John is at the top and his music has Always "touched" me more than any others, it "speaks" to me and my heart... I am a true "Mountain" spirit myself... We will Never forget u John
All people should listen to this. This country is heading down the road to failure. We need PEACE, in our country, in our hearts and minds. and give up the hatred and killing of each other.
John will never be forgotten and this song really makes you feel so peaceful . He was a wonderful singer and knew how to put feelings in music. God bless him.
He was my favorite when he was young. Since then, countless of his songs have stolen into my heart. However, I will say now that this is perhaps the most beautiful song of all. His desire for peace was in his genes. The Catholic religion says: "Let there be peace between us at all times!" I listened to this wonderfully beautiful song three times. Unfortunately, he has been singing for the Angels for nearly twenty-seven years now!
And shed tears too; I wouldn't wonder. A precious gift that the world lost far too soon; but how blessed we are that he left such a catalog of songs. Music which not only entertains, but teaches as well. John's message will never die.
Grew up with DJ songs.. makes me long to go home to the Mile High City and it's gorgeous mountains.. Thank you for the memories and for re-stirring them whenever I listen to you.. RIP
Amen. And his speaking voice was as sweet as his singing voice. I tear up just hearing him speak, that gentle tone, was a mirror to his soul. What was it about this special man? The world needs more souls like Johns. ;-(
Empath possibly? A hurt to others is painful to him as well. He is gentle and sensitive and his voice vibrates with feeling-joys and sorrows and frustration that chaos and refusal to listen undermines peace. To be at peace with oneself, with other people not an easy state but a freeing one. John Denver is a rare person he sought peace, love and explored deepest feelings that resonated and freed listeners from barriers that separated them from one another.
PEACE! This is a Beautiful song of John Denver! I was Blessed to see John Denver in Concert in the early 90's in Amarillo,TX. It was such a Blessing! John Denver's voice is so soothing, and every song he write's is beautiful.(Deep feelings, and emotions).John Denver sung "Rhyme's and Reason's",at the concert.(as he said he wrote in the shower). When John Denver sung this song at the concert, those were his exact word's. John Denver was full of Laughter, and Love. Peace to all!
Start with yourself and be an example so others can follow. This is not a negative comment, but its just how it works. We can not wait until someone else starts to change things. I also hope things change i the world, but I realize I must change myself before I can ask others to change. Peace.
I loved his music in the early/mid 70's and sometimes took some crap from my hard rock friends but I loved him...and now I'm 46 years old and still love his music...peace
Such a beautiful song and the world really needs to listen closer to his words. I really miss John as he was the greatest singer /songwriter of all times. May he rest in peace too.
Thank-you windsong for sharing this peaceful song. How sweet it was. God was so good to give John Denver to us for as long as He did. John served his time well for all mankind. May God cont. to use John's lovely voice in mighty ways. ~~Ava`~~
Today is December 14, 2024, a very difficult and painful period - wars, loss of lives, a period of humanitarian crisis, a moment of lies, disinformations, mistrust and betrayal! This song makes me cry! May there be world peace!
Thank you for sharing this awesome message of Peace.. John Denver had a voice, message and song that helped me a lot at age 14 and now at 46 still do. He may have ''passed over'' however his music ''lives'' on.
Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me. If enough of us do it that way, regardless of our position or status in life, we can come at it from all angles and go as Viral as COVID 19 and come through it much better than we went in. We can only see peace if we see each other as friends and not enemies. It's the only way to bring heaven back down to earth.
Imagine every prayer from every person throughout all of time, past present and future, weaving together as one mighty call for peace. Don't give up everyone
❤ beautiful thank you JD! We don't need a John Denver today... We had and still have him. He left us all these gifts of song, word, and his good messages. ❤ All we nees to do is share and share and share!

John Denver was taken too soon. What a tragic loss!! We need his peace and love so much, today💗
The real tragedy would have been if he was never born. We're lucky that someone with this much talent came into existence.
I am an Anti-War Veteran. I never knew John sang this song. I know it was not on radio during the war. It is one of my favorite songs now,.
The world was so much better when John walked among us.
I so agree...whole heartedly....my tears are only rain to make his love grow throughout the world
Loss of a Gentle soul, a rareity nowadays miss him

Wish he were here now. We'd benefit from his insight on all that's happening in our world.

WE NEED MORE FOLK LIKE THIS, NOW; TODAY.
That beautiful voice...his heart and soul just pours right out.

Very much so. He'd get my vote as most inspirational person of the 20th century
when will the world finally wake up ?
When it's too late...
