I too cried the day he died. I'm right there with you. And this prayer is so powerful. I'd never seen that. I love the sign language. So beautiful. I'm deeply moved. Peace.
I was at blossom in Ohio and saw John do the lords prayer, so moving with instruments behind the sign language. So glad I can relive it now. Wow!!!!! Was so moving in person....
Yes, he was very special in his caring heart for the earth and in his music which expressed that love so well. I remember the day he died, I cried a lot that day, it was a sad day having to say goodbye to a dear friend whom I'd never even met!
He didn't forget the Lord's prayer... he was simply telling us in sign language and had to switch some words to compensate the lack of words they didn't have signs for. John was a great man and spirit and lives on still through his music and lyrics. RIP John. God Bless.
Aloha John Denver !!!! Thank you for singing "The Lord's Prayer"~~~a prayer for all of us !!!! It was such a blessing for me to see it in Indian sign language !!! Gratefully, Robert S.J. Hu Sept. 5, 2020.
That was very powerful. We miss you John. Thank you for such a great legacy in word and song. Your spirit soars among the majestic Rockys with the Eagle and Hawk.
I so love John Denver! My very first concert was one of his. way back in 74 sigh. This is so moving. It looks like that trip really meant a lot to him.
I saw JD perform this beautiful sign language rendition of The Lords Prayer at manchester s Apollo. Amazed, surprised and became a better person for it! The Bells of Rhymney was the other surprise of the night. What a priviledge it was to sit on the front row.
Oh thank-you for sharing this wonderful video. I loved listening to John Denver tell the Lord's Prayer. He had a sweet way of expressing himself. So sweetly done. God bless his soul & music always.
John Denver was such a great entertainer, singer, and man....conservationist, environmentalist, pacificist, and more. His songs had depth, emotion, insight....things you just don't see in music today. I think his "I want to live" version is one of his best. Where have good men, good "country boys" like John Denver with conscience and integrity gone? They certainly can't be found in government and among CEO's of banks and such! God Bless John Denver....you left us much too soon....
Aloha John Denver and KristinDH !!! Thanks for posting "The Lord's Prayer." I love this blessed hymn !!!! A grateful fan, Robert S.J. Hu August 17, 2020.
Allways the teacher.,,,This was so beautiful it made me cry, I guess I miss him so much and all the wonders of living and being alive he taught me....RIP John....forever fan
As a fan, I was always watching/searching for another picture, a new song, a news artical, a television show, anything, not to miss a single beat of his career. NOW. Now these clips come after he is gone. I just wished we could've had more time with him.
Thaannkkssss, John-n-n. And thanks for the post from..the 1982 tour in 2007. What a gift to leave to those who love the Creator of Creation. OUR Father after all these years.
Remember how I cried the day he died? John flying in the wind, to meet his maker catching him up, in the arms of the Creator who made the Heavens and Earth John Love so much.
Leave it to John Denver to share something so Christian in a manner that relates to other cultures thereby opening our hearts to other cultures....and bringing us together....Peace, John....
Amazing, if you can pray like that, and for so many people! Thank you, John, for that prayer and the songs you have left us.. I still miss you... Till we meet in heaven..
How dare you judge John Denver as if you are "God" himself. I do not believe the "Jehovah Witness" thoughts of "awaiting the day of resurrection". That's all I have to say. Thank you!
Kathleen... the Bible tells us (GOD's children who does HIS Commandments) - to judge the righteous judgement. We line up a person's life with Scriptures. John Denver worshiped Hare Krishna... NOT GOD of Abraham. There is our answer dear. You tell us "not to judge" and yet, you're judging John Denver appropriate enough for Heaven? You're acting like GOD?
very spiritual...finding this is too awesome! The anniversary of his death is soon (Oct. 12,1997) it reaffirms my belief in God. I will teach this to others. What a great story teller he was and a wonderful songwriter and musician!
I remember this concert tour, it was 1984 - "The Man And His Music", only time that that I has seen him solo for a concert...and I still have the ticket stub dated July 8, 1984. It was a Sunday evening 7pm show here in Buffalo, NY. I had recently graduated from college in May '84, my older sister and her husband took me to this concert_my second of five total. Pete wasn't thrilled about going & afterwards said it was the BEST concert he had ever attended. How I still love that man and his music
Thank you so much. Just seeing this for first time this Father's Day Sunday, June 16, 2024. How wonderful that we have these amazing gifts shared with us still today. I share a Synday s8ng each week with my kids, the eldest for their UMC Praise Band in S. Texas. Please pray for our beloved little church & our united church we love. You may know that holding onto our belief in being inclusive is a struggle these days. We mourn those who have left us & rejoice in all who are staying and new friends discovering us. Thanks again...this is simply perfect. ♡♡♡
@HaileynGramma Very well put in deed HnG. That is truly how John made us feel. I felt like he was a close friend of mine who believed in the things I believed in and loved this earth and all it's beauty and he gave thanks through his music and tried to teach us all some important lessons. He was not perfect, but he had a beautiful soul. My youngest son died 2 years ago and he gets to sit with John and listen to him sing beautiful songs whenever he wants. Rest in Peace Roddie and John~
This was incredible. Now this is what the internet and especially TH-cam is great for...posting gems like this. I would have never known about him doing this. thank you...so much
I very often think about John, and all he has taught me in music and thought. This is just another wonderful reminder of his "beauty". God Bless John! Thank you for this wonderful video. ~George~
Beautiful signs language I have learned it ....so beautiful. but I miss John Denver so much ..especially I love his Annie song.. YOU FILL UP MY SENSES makes me in tears.
Played his music at my wedding, he played his way into my soul many years ago, I WILL learn this amazing way to say the Lord's Prayer and hope to carry it on through all my life. It is amazing how many lives he has affected through his music. During a trip to China in 09 I was just taken aback by how many people listen to and know his music. Even there they love him still. You are timeless John, I hope to see you again one day. :'(( No it is better if we smile. He would want that. :>)))))
How wonderful to see this again! My mum was a huge fan off John and she took me to see this show when he came to Holland. We even met him in person! (and he was really nice)
o my dearest Lord Jesus; I have NEVER seen this before; tho I saw him before 1982 in Portland, OR, and I saw him once again, after 1982, in Spokane, WA; and that 2nd time, just him and his guitar; no band at all. What a wonderful blessing this has been to me tonight; the night b/4 Palm Sunday.
This made me miss him more I think. That he could embrace such grace from other walks of life to his own unique way, and still be so attuned to nature without the cynical attitude that often develops.... well if I should be like him I would be pleased.
God blessed us with your presence John ... and now he's blesssing you with his...You were called home again and our love and our gratitude for all the beauty you've shared with us during your stay, follows you.
Thank you for posting. This came at the perfect time.🌈🙏 Close to giving up and worry for my people’s safety and mine as well with all the bad people jumping the border during the hours of darkness. I want to live to shine my light and support others💔🦋🦅. I’ll play this again.🙏
*05/28/2020* Amazing. Thank You Father for allowing John to be a part of our world & for the beauty of his heart, his wonderful voice & music. Hopefully he repented of his sins & choose a life to follow You, in the month before he died. May he be in Heaven with You. 👑Jesus is King 👑 Philippians 2:9-11
This is amazing, I have been a John Denver fan my whole life. He is the only celebrity that I cried over when he died. I am missing him right now...and loving that he shared this at a concert.
@KristinDH I sometimes listen just to go back there, when I'm in that frame of mind, longing for better days which are only getting worse in this life, well, apart from Christ and his wonderful government. JD will awaken to better days ahead for everyone and for planet earth and on beyond! May God bless...
The most beautiful & powerful prayer ever uttered. ... John does a fine job (in front of a very secular crowd) of conveying some sense of reverence in the sign-language of THE LORD'S Prayer. ... a great artist. missed much.
Thank you SeasonsFaire! Let's get those logs out of our own eyes and let the Good Lord take care of the rest! He does, after all, hold all of the answers of the universe. I think we can trust Him. I think John did too. Even if he didn't express it quite that way, he expressed it beatifully.
While the modern musicians are making songless rap, taking drugs, depressed, being weirdos, and not a clue about life...We can really miss John Denver, as a singer, and a great man who indeed was an inspiration for generations to come. There must be a providential reason he was chosen to act in Oh God, someone God think as a very good man...RIP John
I'm from an entirely different generation but I grew up listening to John Denver. He put his soul and love for the music he created in every song he wrote and performed. The younger generations who have never heard him do not know what they are being deprived of.I'm glad my parents raised me with the music they did.I have an appreciation for all genres but i mainly love the music from the 70's and earlier. The songs had meaning and were meant to share it they're not just to make profit like today.
Wow this is wonderful. I didn't realize he was such a good teacher. He uses his sweet charm & humor to explain & it's very memorable. Thank you so much for sharing.
Don't despair, D.A.G! John blessed us all with his gift that was from God. I don't really feel that the prayer has been changed, just adapted to the limitations of a different 'language' where certain ideas are not represented. And remember, God also created humor and loves it when we laugh. We need to hold onto and hope for the positive. Who knows, maybe when we meet the Lord there is a final moment of truth and understanding which allows those who haven't, to make the right choice! : )
What a showman. This bit he did with the Lord's Prayer has always amazed me. You could hear a pin drop in the audience... they were spell-bound. How do you get that kind of reaction reciting the Lord's Prayer? I saw him at the Soldier's and Sailor's Memorial Auditorium in Kansas City, Kansas in 1973? He said he was not too excited to be playing that location, as it probably held less than a thousand. I couldn't believe he could get that much sound all by himself.
OMG, I 've always Loved John Denver now, that love for him has escalated to Honor after listening to him whom I miss so very much. I know he is with God totally. He was a good man
Yes for years I have liked him and actually gone to Jasper Alberta to find out more. Years later I moved from California to Oklahoma and only then did I put together meaning of his Song Feather Bed... He lived in Oklahoma also! Wow! 👀
Your belief makes it so for you. What you are thinking now just might be what you are thinking after death. Hell is a personal thought made zone. Control emotions or have your emotions out of control. I like John Denver music in it you hear that hell and heaven was something man made on earth.
You don't know that. He may have received Jesus as His Lord and Savior before he died. You don't know what was in his heart. I like thinking rather that he is in Heaven singing and playing guitar with Glen Campbell.
I would have loved to see this man in concert , but alas . No. What an incredible , genuine good soul he was . He gave us his talents and we can sing them aloud or silently within our hearts . I know he had his darkness , but to err is human. Let not one without sin , cast the first stone . ❤
To all those who've convinced themselves, & are trying to convince the rest of us, that JD is not in Heaven because he embraced Buddhism: There is a HUGE difference in being religious and being spiritual. Surely, JD was a spiritual man. What we've come to call the "Lord's prayer" is actually a model prayer presented to the disciples who asked Jesus, "Teach us to pray." As for his final destination: "who hath known the mind of the LORD?" Only God can answer that for us.
I was at a concert when He did this, I think it was "A Man and His Music" tour in 1982. It was a moment that stood out to me because he got a moment to talk about God, without talking about god. He was always great at delivering a message witha lot of suttledy.
Re; Poem, Wintertide. Thanks again Don !! Found the poem John liked on poemhunter. It is the best poem I have read about Winter ever!! Mike Monahan is really gifted!
What a special person and singer he was. No one will ever come close to being like him. He's no longer with us, but his music lives forever.
I too cried the day he died. I'm right there with you. And this prayer is so powerful. I'd never seen that. I love the sign language. So beautiful. I'm deeply moved. Peace.
i' Never Seen This 1, Peace✌.
that was one of the most beautiful things i have ever seen... God Bless John Denver. what a truly wonderful man..he is missed.
A lamb you are... this "thing" is mocking man.
I was at blossom in Ohio and saw John do the lords prayer, so moving with instruments behind the sign language. So glad I can relive it now. Wow!!!!! Was so moving in person....
When John did lords prayer, he didn't explain, just the movements, beautiful beyond words...
Yes, he was very special in his caring heart for the earth and in his music which expressed that love so well. I remember the day he died, I cried a lot that day, it was a sad day having to say goodbye to a dear friend whom I'd never even met!
This is just beautiful... I've watched over and over again to learn it myself. Just goes to show that God is universal.
He didn't forget the Lord's prayer... he was simply telling us in sign language and had to switch some words to compensate the lack of words they didn't have signs for.

Amazing, if you can pray like that, and for so many people! Thank you, John, for that prayer and the songs you have left us..

dskap201.. I always thought John Denver was a New Ager conformist to HARE CHRISHNA

This is beautiful....
Thank you so much for that footage wonderful he was...
I can't recall ever having seen this before. Very moving. Touches my Spirit deep inside.
I love John Denver and I love this. I saw him in concert in the year before he died. He sung his heart out.
Wish I had of seen this fifteen yrs ago. What a wonderful coming together of two worlds.
he is now singing for all of us in Heaven!!! God bless his soul.
im a die hard pink floyd fan. but John Denver was my first musical love. he was and is amassing.
Wow this is wonderful. I didn't realize he was such a good teacher. He uses his sweet charm & humor to explain & it's very memorable. Thank you so much for sharing.
This is one of the most beautiful ways to say the Lord"s Prayer!!! Way to go John
One of the most wonderful Videos at TH-cam.

The world is a lesser place without John Denver.
Gone from this earth way too soon Forever in our hearts especially mine
(Henry) John (Deustchendorf),Denver was a great storyteller-inspiring to see him"sign" The Lord's Prayer...🙏
,Jr.😉
I have just lost a much loved aunt and my cousin would like to perform this at the funeral..I think it will be very moving
This is mockery towards man.... he's dressed in his best As Above So Below
Some of US can see
Oh God, I still miss him.
Praise God that was absolutely beautiful ...
Hi Brenda
OMG, I 've always Loved John Denver now, that love for him has escalated to Honor after listening to him whom I miss so very much. I know he is with God totally. He was a good man
Yes for years I have liked him and actually gone to Jasper Alberta to find out more. Years later I moved from California to Oklahoma and only then did I put together meaning of his
Song Feather Bed... He lived in Oklahoma also! Wow! 👀
No....he is in hell...according to God's word, the bible. Denver worshiped the earth instead of it's Creator, Jesus Christ.
Your belief makes it so for you. What you are thinking now just might be what you are thinking after death. Hell is a personal thought made zone. Control emotions or have your emotions out of control. I like John Denver music in it you hear that hell and heaven was something man made on earth.
Collis0E0H Your thinking is pure fantasy. Hell is real and it awaits you.
You don't know that. He may have received Jesus as His Lord and Savior before he died. You don't know what was in his heart. I like thinking rather that he is in Heaven singing and playing guitar with Glen Campbell.
This is a treasure! Thank You Kristin for posting!
How moving! It moves me into tears.

Hello Nancy
John left us way too early - he seemed like he was of good heart but a heavy heart - peace brother
Thank you for uploading this!
FAR-OUT!!! I saw him perform this in San Jose, CA back in 1984, it was impressive... thanks for sharing this!
