  • How to frame a canvas board with no thickness. One solution is to use a floating frame and recreate a thickness.
    Comment encadrer un carton entoilé sans épaisseur. Une solution est d'utiliser une caisse américaine et de recréer une épaisseur.

    This is great. But you don't want to 3:22 put screws between the frame joints. That will make them expand and maybe pop out. #love #olivarrio

    Gosh, this was actually very straightforward and helpful. I might try to find an alternative to the screws, but overall, this seems like a great way to frame my collages due to their overhang.

    While that looks amazing, it's wayyyyy too complex for me and I don't know how to use those tools. I was hoping for an easier way. But, good job!

    How do you keep the screws from coming through and damaging your canvas board

    Can you make a video showing framing a large canvas panned, like 18” X 24” , or 24” X 36” ? Thanks in advance.

    Isn’t the glue damaging the canvas on the board? I thought every needed to be acid free for the painting to be protected long term

      You can buy archival quality glue which is acid free.

    Only useful if you have dome DIY skills which I don't. Prefer to buy a frame or use an alternative solution.

    Where do you get your frames?

    Nice tutorial. I like how you glued on wood to deepen the panel but I wouldn't feel comfortable using scotch tape to hold the painting up. I'm surprised you didn't use glue there as well.

      I believe he used tape so it would be easy to change the frame if needed. You don’t want to make the art difficult to remove from the frame. In this case it’s really the screws keeping it together.

    Why are you using a folded piece of scotch tape, instead of just using glue?

    • @jenlittleart
      @jenlittleart ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that's so if you want to remove the frame, you don't damage the art. Especially if you are selling. Some people will change frame for personal preference or paint it a different color.

    How long to wait for oil painting to dry until I can use pliers on the board?

    • @danib1600
      @danib1600 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      This can depend on how many layers, what kind of process you used to glaze, the heat of the area the painting is being dried in, etc.
      Most say about a day, but I'd play it safe and wait at least a week if you're using a lot of paint and don't want to accidentally squish your lovely textures.
      Put a small piece of foam on the paint-side to maybe lessen the pressure being placed directly onto the textured paint.
