    You're loving those guitar solos by David Gilmore. He's not quick, he doesn't shred. But he chooses every note so carefully, and uses them to maximum effect. If you want some Pink Floyd that will take you places, you should listen to "Echoes". It's twenty-three minutes long, but it has two magnificent Gilmore guitar solos, and more sound effects than you can shake a maraca at. And that's the thing. If you're going to listen to bands like Pink Floyd and Yes, eventually you're going to have to get into their longer compositions, because those are some of their trademark pieces. I can't wait to see you react to those! Peace, Zay!

    This song takes me back to the 70's when I was a teenager. My friends and I would sit on this hill to watch the sunset and we would play Pink Floyd along with all our other favorite bands 🤟

    A really great song & video to react to is Pink Floyd Echoes Live At Pompeii. It's a long one, but it is guaranteed to blow your mind.

      gotta do the full version. So many reactors only do the first half...

  • @justinatest9456
    @justinatest9456 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    I know you want to do Dark Side as a whole album, and the people suggesting you do are right, that album specifically really does require a complete listen, as the songs are very inter-connected. I also know you have limitations and are unable to do the full album right now.
    If it helps, you could also do a half album at a time. All of these albums were created with vinyl in mind, which obviously had two sides to the record, meaning bands were forced to put a break in their albums. It's reasonable to listen to Side 1 in one video, and then Side 2 in the next video.
    Not many albums demand a full playthrough, but Dark Side did. The follow up Wish You Were Here (my favorite) was similar, in that I would recommend doing each side in one sitting. The Wall as well, but that album is a whole other story (literally). The Wall is where Hey You is from.

    Entire albums are the way to go. I'm jealous, your getting to hear all this great music for the first time. Check out the Pulse concert, on TH-cam, they play the entire Dark Side album live. Some of the greatest guitar solos ever.

    Been waiting for you to get to more Floyd! Great job bud. You are correct that you should listen to PF albums all the way through (however you have to work it with copyright restrictions), but you can cherry pick a few songs here and there. I would recommend Comfortably Numb live at the Pulse concert in 1994. You will need to watch the video so that you don't miss the light show. Best guitar solo you have ever heard. Best of luck.

    Also, I think an acceptable word for what you're looking for is "transcendental." The whole is worth more than the sum of its parts.

  • @CygnusKC

    This is why I watch reaction videos. I'm not just saying this because I'm getting old (53 and counting...), but I just don't get the same kind of emotion from the stuff that's being put out today, even though I try. Typically, I will hear a new song on the radio, and after about 30 seconds I change it. Barely any creativity, just everyone copying on another. Now... I'll hop down off of my soap box and say that you definitely need to do "Dark Side of the Moon", but do it as a full-album review, playing each song in order as it was meant to be heard. It will change you. For single songs, I'd like to see you do "Learning to Fly".
    Also: if you haven't done any RUSH, you should. Start with the radio hits and then go deeper into their catalog. Legions of Rush fans will join your channel, I promise you. You will also find gems that affect you like Pink Floyd, but like Floyd, paying attention to the lyrics and song meaning is key to getting the full experience.

A must, if you can, is bassist and lyricist for Floyd, Roger Waters has toured the Floyd playlist as a solo act for many yrs. With that said, checkout “Pigs/in 3parts live from Mexico City. It’s insanely good. Or “In The Flesh.” Be well. 🤘😎

    I know you've heard Comfortably Numb, but there's nothing that matches the version from their Pulse show in 1994. There's are some high quality versions on youtube (avoid the higher view counts, the quality is low). The guitar solo is considered the best, and for good reason. Their live show was on par with their studio work, and equally creative and beautiful.

    I’m telling you, white people just love seeing black people enjoying white music. It’s true! I’m not even being cynical, I think it’s a great thing. Especially when you factor in the generational gaps, I can’t think of a better way to bring people together than these reaction videos.
    Nice work! There is much more to cover with Pink Floyd, and when you are eventually done, there are of course many more bands.
    My recommendation? Hmmm, I’d have to choose something obscure, like the Relics compilation. That stuff is a real trip, less polished but some very interesting songs. I like Julia Dream.
