- BraveWords caught up with legendary Arch Enemy guitarists Michael Amott and Jeff Loomis (Nevermore) at this year’s Heavy Montréal, which was held from August 7th through 9th at Parc Jean-Drapeau.

Michael is CRAZY Good.... This guy is a machine.. and a beast guitar player, songwriter, producer, collaborator.!! I like Jeff with Arch Enemy, fantastic stage presence and guitar playing.

I'm excited to hear the next Arch Enemy album after Will To Power. Jeff should have an increasing amount of input. He's earned it. The live shows are super tight sounding with Jeff. To play a medium difficulty piece flawlessly live requires skill. Jeff said so himself. Don't trash the band just because it doesn't sound like Jeff in the studio. It's still demanding to be consistent and accurate live. The success of the AE live sound is in a big way attributed to Jeff's skills. On a separate note, god the interviewer is annoying. The guy should be fired.

I'm kinda sad Jeff is not writing on the new record. His style is amazing and I'm very curious to how it would influence Amott's writing. I mean he's awesome, but also been doing the same thing for decades. Jeff could freshen things up if Michael would let him...

Being in a big band helps Financially cause you do more touring + more merchandise sales. you dont make alot of money doing guitar clinics showing how good you are. unless of course if you're steve vai/satriani who could sell out any shows.

Actually I cannot tell their vibratos apart in many parts of their songs. That kinda dispells the myth for me that a vibrato is someone's signature. You can always mimic someone's vibrato.

It's funny because Jeff had auditioned for megadeth years ago. However although Dave was blown away, he ended up telling Jeff no because he was "TOO YOUNG" which is a decision he's probably regretting now.

If Jeff actually utilized all the exotic virtuoso arpeggios and frighteningly aggressive rhythms he can execute - it would melt people’s faces off - and not be entirely consistent with the festival Folk music expectations of the various metal sub-genres.

+Ravel Bridgetanian I hear a lot of people saying this, and i actually like the move for Jeff because it opens up his playing to a wider audience, especially when the next AE record comes out. It may not be a good use of his skills right now, but once he gets into the studio with them i feel like Michael would let him off the chain for the next record and he could really blow the old AE guitarists out of the water. Either way Jeff being in the band will get himself and Nevermore a lot more attention that they wouldn't get otherwise.
