Loomis is an extremely talented guitar player. As much as I love Arch Enemy, for me Nevermore was THE top metal band. RIP Warrel Dane.

I agree, especially when Tim Calvert (rip) was in the band. I like the newer stuff but Dreaming Neon Black was so dark and heavy, in part I think because of Tim's input.

Jeff Loomis is an Alien. He is amazing at everything he does from any instrument he picks up, to writing, to throwing perfect spirals as far as anyone can. Definitely one of the Number 1 guitarists of all time.
I hope one day the full story of what happened with Warrel and the time line of his last album. There is much more to it than has been said. Let's start talking about the initial producer/ studio that Warrel went too and what happened. I wanted him on a plane out of there immediately.
I was with Warrel for 2 weeks before he went down to record. Warrel was doing great, he had it together and even avoided any excesses and partying. He was eating and cooking amazing meals as always but healthy foods all the way. We didn't drink at all even when we went to shows. At home he was completely enveloped in writing and prepping for the new album. I guess it wouldn't be a secret now but he had written alot for Sanctuary and he talked deeply with me about his Master plan to Bring Nevermore back together and bring his greatest Album to Fruition. He even played and sang parts of a few songs for me. It was like him pouring his soul out when he talked about it. This was going to be his ultimate focus once he finished this solo album. He spoke a lot about Jeff. Warrel had a huge heart and a lot of Love and a speacial connection for his Brothers in Sanctuary and others. But I will say that there was a very special relationship and almost longing to Bring Jeff, Jim and Warrel back into one big fucking HUG and create this NEVERMORE album. I want to say so much but I think I will leave it at......
Warrel Dane was Truly a METAL GOD! He was an idol to me as a kid and I met him in the oddest way possible, if we hadn't become friends for months before I knew who he was the. I probably would have lost it at being over whelmed by who he was and what he meant to me and how much I learned from him. But I was Very Fortunate to have been his Friend a Brother over the decades. He was a beautiful man that was incredibly insightful and exquisitely elegant in a very Dark and heavy way. Warrel was Truly Beautiful in his Imaculate Disorder. He made this world a better place for just have been. His lyrics were immensely inspirational, very relatable, and Healing, incredibly deep and challenging to the most philosophical. He was a guide into searching for higher forms of reasoning and understanding. Warrel also could warn us of what is to come and describe what we are in for if things don't change. Deffinetly a man that stands apart and could paint a picture of what it's like to be in another's shoes. I believe he was the most versatile lyricist in Metal. He had a vocal pallet that had color and feelings without end. He could sing to you and reach right inside of your soul with his. He poured his soul out and let it open for the world to see. If there is one who has found away for their consciousness to travel on, it would be Warrel. I really want to rewrite this properly, I have far to much to say to keep it all in time.
I'm happy and heart broken now and he left a huge hole in my life but every time I look into that empty spot, and expect a heart wreaching void.... it's not empty! WD is there, that ever present smile witty comments, sense of humor, advice, always being straight with me, always open minded, never ending conversations of EVERY subject or philosophy, on and on. He didn't really give vocal lessons but talking vocal techniques and such , he truly was a wealth of knowledge.
I just remember everytime I visited or we talked it always came to this bond between Warrel, Jim and Jeff. I hope one day to talk to Jeff about my last time with Warrel. I also feel for Jim , Jim without Warrel, Warrel without Jim .. it was bad enough to see Warrel and Jim without Jeff. There was a very unique bond something magical between them. And Yes he was incredibly close with others and there is a bit of a list of people that he spoke so highly of and cared deeply for. I'm gonna stop here. This isn't my place. I don't want anyone to think that what I am saying covers Warrels life and leaves anyone out. Warrel had a vast life and loved and lived it well.
I Love You Warrel, You Will Be Missed.... Thank You for visiting me in my Dreams to say we will meet again. that meant everything. And Thank You for Expanding my mind in so many ways... Meet Me in the Dream Time Waters Brother.

Very well said sir....I have been a Metal fan since 78 and Stained Class....I consider myself a veteran...I was there at the beginning for the most part...Along the way I would tend to focus on a band that I loved and really hone in on it...memorizing everything about it....Ive heard Hell Awaits and War And Pain atleast a thousand times..only so much time in the day to listen to everything...I heard nevermore for the first time in 2005...Godless Endeavor...It was killer ofcourse but swimming amongst a sea of other bands at the time...I didn't put it on my every day playlist....its now 2020...and I've been on an absolute TEAR with Nevermore....Really digging in to the genius that they were...Not sure if I've heard emotion in vocals conveyed better ever....
It just really hits hard...anxiety with an overtone of calmness...
I only wish I would have paid more attention when things were good...
Definitely catching up with the respect part....
Warrel seemed like a very genuine guy....
Thanks for posting a small fly on the wall aspect...🤘🤘👊👊☕☕

Today i was informed of WD death. I grew up with his lyrics, he was such an inspirational model to my own writting of lyrics. Life happened and i hadn't written any lyrics/music or listen to metal for years. And today i craved to listen to his words. Now i am in tears. He said in an interview that he waits until the end of his life to choose where he stands as regards belief. That it was all about the experience. I hope he found out what is out there, and i hope his heart is not broken anymore, untouched by anything negative. I hope he is happy, reunited with his dad. Since he doesn't know me, tell him hi from me , please. :')

3:15 - It's the first time I've heard anyone referring to the Seattle's grunge movement and rightly so not mentioning Nirvana. And Soundgarden (1984) and Alice In Chains (1987) didn't start it, they were around long before the Grunge movement is said to have started. Pearl Jam were the "younger" of the 3 bands Jeff mentioned (1990).

This was a really weak interview. Whoever came up with the interview questions definitely could have asked better questions.
    1. Are you moving from Schecter Guitars to Jackson Guitars?
    2. Will you be putting out a new solo album or another Conquering Dystopia album?
    3. Will you be contributing more on the next Arch Enemy record?
    4. Where is your favorite place to tour?
    5. What is your craziest tour story?
To ask if Nevermore was going to be reunited after the passing of Warrel was just stupid and then to be nosy about his substance abuse issues.
It's kind of appalling. Come up with better interview questions, and maybe change the typefont for the questions. Better grammar would also be a plus!

Interesting and on topic questions ,interview had a nice flow.Mr Loomis surely plays for a decent band we all understand or can figure the reason why.
Since thought he has a legacy left en route ,why not leaving the convenience of payroll and go instead get a new singer that can actually perform Nevermore songs/keeping the legacy up.
I mean, who's gonna remember him in the end of the day as an Arch Enemy guitarist.
Not trying to get salty at all,the way he talks about Warrel (as the Warrel did about Jeff in the past) has dignity and you can realise he loved him.
But Jeff ,get your shit together man, Nevermore are bigger than this .Get the dragon in the river again!!!!

Play the same songs for 18 years while watching one of your best friends kill themselves via substance abuse. Eventually those songs get attached to a painful memory of fights and bad times overall and like he said, he's made a name for himself and it's time to hang it up. Also, legacy doesn't pay the bills.

    • @billpoulos8350
      @billpoulos8350 6 ปีที่แล้ว

We all grew up with memories that had a mixture of both good and bad incidents but its up to us to abstract and evaluate what we'd like to keep. For someone that keeps talking with such a compansionate tone about a person, yes its clearly what he'd like to reflect to us all.Its the right way to do after all, raise the level and keep the bad stuff among the family.
Nevertheless,i'd like to add as someone that did my fair share in the music industry, range of these bands have built up a legacy throughout the years that definitely have made em able to pay the bills.
Nowadays this is something impossible for most of the bands to achieve(especially under the genre of metal).
Even if we apparently approach it under different prism,my comment does not wanna to provoke anyone.
Jeff Loomis is a guy that refers to him with great respect and im sure he'll carry on with the legacy and the heritage Nevermore own,all that at some point.

You can't blame him with the way the industry is today.... He doesn't write any music for them though, so his free time is probably spent on his solo albums.

I suspect that when Jeff quit Nevermore that he lost all the rights to the name. It's possible that he couldn't reform the band now even if he wanted to. That said, he has writing credits on every single song. So he can play Nevermore music all he wants. He just can't call it Nevermore.

No offence to Arch Enemy, but Jeff is criminally overqualified for that band.
And I know it might be blasphemic, but I'd definitely want to hear Nevermore pick up where they left with ZP Theart on vocals.

I really dislike this interview format. It requires me to be watching the video so I know what the questions are, and it's also really obnoxious to blast loud riffs every 30 seconds.
