I'm in the process of building my own, all I need to do is solder and code! I'm also putting my rotary encoder as the vertical side knob for item selection, and I'm doing the code myself. It's going to be awesome! Edit: after i'm finished, I'm going to try and also implement an open source fitness tracker, to accurately display the health stats/hp.
cool, how is it coming? I would really love some pointers lad! if you wouldn't mind messaging me on Instagram @moparguy00 , I would forever be in your debt
Thanks for this project, really love this. Also few tips. You don't have to buy a baterry and the charging chip, you can get it from by disasseblying power bank.
1. Would it be possible for this to receive calls, messages and email? 2. Could there also be a model where the device would open on the hinge like in the game and with a working latch?
can I use anything other than a lithium battery because I dont want to forget to unplug the thing and I dont want it to burst into flames is there anything as powerful or powerful enough to work with this pipboy or do I have to use a lithium battery
Does it has fully working hologames from fallout 4 and 76? I would absolutely pay for a fully working model that can tune to your local radio stations and can emulate early games like pong and Atari first games
Hi sorry massive noob here i have installed the pypboy 3000 software etc on the Rasberry pi but i cant get it to launch at all, what do i need to do make this start its for my daughter i said i could make this work im ok good electronics etc but programming is not my bag any help would be apprceiated
The pipboy image only works with a Pi 2 (not 3). If you want to make it work on a Pi 3, you'd have to start with a fresh image and then install the pipboy python app.
complete newb here. I'm having a hard time figuring out how to install pipboy python app. I have the pi 3 and i have installed a fresh copy of jessie based pitft. it's up and running on the pi3. how do you install the pipboy app after?
there are two GitHub pages where if you install git you can start tinkering with it here are the links github.com/sabas1080/pypboy github.com/grieve/pypboy mind you there are also requirements and you NEED TO GET EXTENDED IMAGES FOR PYGAME OR ELSE THE THING WILL KEEP WANTING A WINDOWS BMP file
I would say yes since the raspberry pi zero is a smaller built version of the first raspberry pi. I myself am going to try this with a raspberry pi zero w
personaly i would have use the little plug thingy in the back as a cable to plug things in like the game would be better then having a giant hole there just my opinion tho
If you read the tutorial I don't believe the little knob does anything. it isn't even connected. I'm wondering how you can manipulate the menus with only one knob. In the video it looks like he is using it but it's definitely no hooked up based on the tutorials.
This was cool, would love to see it further perfected though

do you need to install noobs or raspbian? i'm trying to program mine.
You done?
This needs to comeback

needs a geiger counter
best one you can find to fit it in the case
THE PIP BOY HE MADE IS 4000 OR 3000 Mark not IV but V!
I am no one Mine is in the shop
here is a Geiger counter board that is made for the pi
apollo.open-resource.org/lab:pigi
It's actually possible to use a fotodiode to build a geiger counter, if you want it cheaper (but will be less precise, obviously)
Now to figure out how to put in a working dosimeter with readout needle for a hero model. :D
Forget that. Get those key finder RFID chip things. Find a way to interface with the Pip Boy. Have it start clicking when you get close to your keys.
I want to see a tutorial for modding the pip boy that came with the special edition of fallout 4 to do the same thing.

Would it be possible to create a Shiekah Slate from Zelda: BotW, which would have a camera, map, and Shiekah sensor that beeps similar to in the game?

Just wait until someone create Fusion Batteries 😂
you can buy a lithium battery with a circuit protection board. almost everything rechargable work uhh like that
THIS IS JUST A VERY COOOOOL PROJECT...NICE
Does it has fully working hologames from fallout 4 and 76? I would absolutely pay for a fully working model that can tune to your local radio stations and can emulate early games like pong and Atari first games
Could someone explain to me how the pins for the unused GPIOs are mapped out on the tft's solder pads? Or point me to something that lists it?
I'm asked for credentials when I turn it on. I connect a keyboard but it does not work.
YES! I KNEW YOU GUYS WOULD MAKE THIS!
I' m working on this now but I'm having a lot of trouble with the software. Did it get updated for a newer Pi? (I'm using the B+)
I really wish they would restock the parts so I could build one of these
can you build a holotape that fits into the pip-boy and plays The Wanderer?
I don't have a 3D Printer to print the parts
why did you respond to your own comment

Can you make a upgrade ? Using rfid for holotape music and games clips letters etc the newest pipboy could use modern tech
Would it work with the The Wand Company Fallout Pip-Boy 2000 Mk VI Kit
is anyone able to get the source, whenever I click the link it says i am not authorized to access the page
Would also be cool to use a touchscreen and load the pipboy android app! That's awesome in any case
Ive been trying to figure out the software is noobs,or just raspbian needs installed or just the pipboy zip file?
I can't seem to get the pipboy image running properly on the SD card. I have tried several SD card formatters, but it will not boot up! Can you help?

Adafruit Industries a fresh image of any os?

I cannot access the source files in the link provided... would it be possible to re-upload the .f3d file?
were you able to get the files?
@@nelsontraversi8307 the file is still not accessible, unfortunately
does this link to the game if you want to use it?
where do i find the code
Used a GPIO Display once, would never repeat that experience.
+ReaperRotten why XD
+Zach Sylvester laggy af
ReaperRotten lol i used one on the pi2 and it wasnt laggy at all.
Yeah these small TFT displays has one of the slowest refresh rate.
I want to do this except with a mini CRT tube.
are you able to put a convex (is it convex? i never remember) screen over it like a tv from the 90s?
you can do a convex glass screen protector but I think the screen itself would be hard to get
what LCD screen did you use?
They used a PiTFT Plus. You can buy one here: www.adafruit.com/product/2441
Pretty cool
now thats how the nes power glove suppose to look like.
Can I make this using a raspberry pi zero?
I would say yes since the raspberry pi zero is a smaller built version of the first raspberry pi. I myself am going to try this with a raspberry pi zero w
Is there a version for Pi Zero? Cos that’s all I can afford
You can't spell pip boy without pi, lol
Does anyone here know if anyone has modded the Pipboy 3000 from Bethesda to have working lights or such?
How much did this entire build cost?
I NEED IT! But I'm not a techie :'(
this need to be done for fallout 76!!!
personaly i would have use the little plug thingy in the back as a cable to plug things in like the game would be better then having a giant hole there just my opinion tho
This...is...amazing...
if only there was a fallout 3 /Tale of Two Wastelands to use on the Raspberry Pi now that would be fun or even have it connect to Fallout new Vegas.
I need to build this
Hmm... I'm thinking of modding so the map will allow fast travel (call an uber). This should be fun.
Great idea
where's the Geiger counter?
In the shop.
+John Markowitz hahaha that's what I was going to say

its touch screen as well :)
1:37 wait what
Awesome!
I REEEEEEEEEEEALLY want to build this... but I cannot afford the parts nor the time for the 3D printing XD
The Pi Boy
i really hope this works with the game.,
Should make it play fallout shelter or somthing
Looks awesome, but it's pronounced 'foe' not 'fux'.
MotoErgoSum No faux were given
I can make this :O
It. So. Cooooool!!!!!!!!!
1:06 I have that keyboard!
It's not a real pipboy is it doesn't have a Geiger counter built-in!
You said Mark4, but you wrote MKVI (Mark 6)
he wrote mkIV so he wrote mark 4
I want one, lol
demet
Fox gauges??? lol.... faux... like foe, not fox.
Can this connect to the Fallout 4 game, is so what consoles
wait so you can use the in game app or other apps on this device???????? :))))_))))
