Excellent video of both band and guard. Usually the guard gets left out!

Great performance as always by the Irish Guards Drums and Pipes. On the return march, I don’t think I heard the pipers pausing their music like they started doing within the last year or so. I personally like when they just play all the way through just like the band or corps of drums do.

Ah! My Favourite Foot Guard Regiment in the Household Division, The Irish Guards. The Band of the Irish Guards & The Pipes & Drums of The Irish Guards are also Favourites. Very Nice to see the RSM give Compliments to the Irish Guard Statue erected after the Gulf War, made from Spent Ordinance on the Battlefield where the Irish Guards Fought & Died. The New Guard looked Good heading up To Windsor Castle & were full of Mick Swagger as they entered the Henry Vlll Gate, announcing their Arrival with The Regimental Quick March St Patrick's Day.
Some of the Best Drill you'll see, from the Old Guard, The Queen's Gurkha Signals Marching back to Victoria Barracks. I will never understand why the Brigade of The Gurkhas, in their Entirety, have to Drill twice as good as any other Regiment in the BA, to achieve the same Acknowledgement. Thank You again Lenny Windsor.

Why does the Colour Sergeantat front not have his bayonet fixed like all the other?

Hello, I take it you mean the Sergeant nearest the Camera, directly behind The Escort Guarding the Officer, heading up to the Castle. He is one of 2 Duty NCOs who always Accompany the New Guard Detachment. The one at the Very Back acts as Duty Sergeant Major & the one at the front you are asking about acts as a Senior NCO who keeps watch over the Officer & Escort or the Ensign carrying the Colour & Escort & is often but not always a Colour Sergeant. He's also the cover for the DSM if he drops out for any reason. Last year there was a Guard Change at Windsor where a Guardsman was taken ill at the end of the High St & the DSM stayed with him while the other Duty Sergeant took over at the Front of the Detachment as the DSM.
Todays Detachment is a little Different, the NCO you're asking about is actually a RSM according to the Badge Rank on his Sleeve as well as a Colour Sergeant & the Duty SM at the Back of the Guard Detachment has the RSM on his Sleeve but no Sergeants Chevron. He also Appears to be Sporting an Officers Collar, but the rest of his Uniform is that of Other Ranks. From the information I've been able to find, this marks him as a Staff Sergeant & he is also a Colour Sergeant. I've seen those Duty Sergeants Marching at the Front of the Detachment before, some armed with Bayonet Fixed & some not. I was told once, that if the DSM is relieved as the SM for that Parade, then he will use a Spare Rifle, he wouldn't bring his own to the Drill Square for Inspection & finding himself relieved of the Swagger Stick, he acquires a Rifle to carry as the DS at the front of the Detachment. I have recently found that some information I have been given over the last 2+ Years is incorrect, but I pass this on to you in Good Faith, without guarantee of Accuracy. The one unsettling thought I have about it, is it makes perfect Sense, which is not usual for many things the BA does, but you make up your own mind.
      Have a Great Week.
