I am incredibly proud of our friends from Nepal...and I know the rest of the country is as well. They are the best of the best. On top of that, you will never meet a sweeter human being. They are truly the best brothers in arms you could wish for.
Many years ago, I had the privilege to have a 15 day attachment to The Gurkhas as a driver/ storeman. I made many friendships, some endure even to this day. They are the most pleasant, courteous people you will ever meet. However, having seen their Kukri weapons drill, at close quarters, their reputation as fierce warriors is well deserved!!!!!!!
When the Gurkhas March uphill, they have a frantic pace, but when they return to barracks, they come back to the “normal” tempo , perhaps in deference to the Irish Guards, who probably appreciate the courtesy. Thanks again for sharing.
Fantastic video! The marches played were, 1) Cock O' The North & Atholl Highlanders 2) Viribus Unitis 3) Scotland the Brave 4) Jellalabad 5) Yo Nepali! (Return to Barracks) 6) Scotland the Brave & Highland Laddie 7) Glorious Victory 8) Wi' a Hundred Pipers 9) National Emblem 10) Milanollo
@@anitapike4592 Indeed, The Rifles haven't done public duties in a while, I believe they did public duties in 2019. The pandemic makes it feel even longer. Maybe they'll be next for Public Duties after the Gurkhas. Although in June 8th-9th 2022 Sounding Retreat will take place so that means we'll see The Rifles.
I love the Gurkhas Uniform, for some odd reason they remind me of the glorious 95th Rifles from way back when from Wellington's army in the Napoleonic Era
That's because they are rifleman the Ghurkhas also share the same colours, march pace, music, don't have bayonets attached, but they are their own brigade and are equipped with a Kukri.

Probably the best and bravest soldiers in the world . Why are they playing bagpipes? Or does the sound of a wailing cat frighten the enemy even more than they do :) Superb allies
Could be for theirservice with the Black Watch in WW111 and other Scottish regiments. A buddy who served in the Watch had a Gurka buddy. He stuck by his wide through thick and thin. When he was wounded he refused to leave him.
They play the Highland bagpipes and wear tartan as a mark of respect to the finest soldiers ever, the Scots, even the Gurkhas are scared of the Scots. Yes lots of countries have the bagpipes but we have the Highland version and if hearing them doesn't stir your soul then your probably dead. We are often copied but never beaten.
Yes, it is a mark of respect to the Scottish regiment. The olny regiment the Gurkhas had admired. They call Scottish regiment a 'PUKKA PALTAN' which means excellent regiment.
Well said, I believe were affiliated with the Duke of Edinburgh and stationed there in the 60's. Lovely talented boys who are fiercely loyal and who were never paid that well but they never complained. Ask any soldier who they would love to have them at their back and it would be the Gurkas. Dedicated and loyal soldiers and musicians.

Being light infantry they march at the "double quick" while Heavies march at the "quick".
@@davesherry5384 not light infantry as such they are a rifle regiment. All light infantry regiments had Light Infantry in the title.
Gurkhas/Rifles march at 140 paces per minute - other infantry/units (inc Guards) are 120 ppm.
Are they Irish Guards? Thought they may be Welsh Guards going by the Red hackles in their bearskins
Actually I made an error they are Coldstream Guards wearing red plume on the right side

Gurkhas are brave soldiers and they are fierce. British commanders usually send them to charge first in battlefields.
When was that?
The war with Argentina
Never happened mate. They were there, two Gurkhas were killed by artillery fire, one died clearing ordinance.
Please tell me why are their officers are British and not Gurkhas, and now they have female officers.

When I watched them, they had one cop in front but now there’s 3 cops 2 armed also weird
After terrorism, it became a standard. You see many heavily armed police around now.
They are not marching, they’re speeding along - they must have such stamina to be able to March at that pace while playing their instruments!!
