If it comes with a single texture for the whole object. Then, click on assign new material and apply that as a map for colour. If you have other maps as well apply those too
No i didn't. if you want to learn animation, i think you should learn iclone or cascadeur because they are easier to learn and you can learn the software from the tutorials in their website.
@@Z2000 I don't mean that I download and upload Free model as it is, I use a few things in it, I make a little bit by myself, and add a little bit from a different place and make a new model and sell it. I am talking about

If i import a model into my scene and submit the assignment for school will the teacher be able to tell if I have imported it instead of modelling it myself ???
Most cases they will know, if they know the website themselves. But you can try to change the name and some textures and tweak some things to fool them

Mostly texture comes applied to the model if you download a native file to the software that you are using. If the texture file come seperatly with it,then you have to add a new material and apply the texture to the material like base color to color and roughness to the roughness in the material.
ok, but, when I import the model to maya, it came with texture in hypershade, but, the texture is not applied, is it right? So, LIke you say, do I have to add a new material ,and ignore existing materials? @@Z2000
First try this select the object and go to the hyper shade rightclick on the material and go to the apply material to the selected. Try this if it doesn't work then try with the new material. If it works then go to the edit in hypershade and click on delete unused nodes to clean up the un used materials.

You have to download the file with the format that is compatable with the software you are using

textures are missing how to get them
Some models doesn't include texture you can see that in details of the model.

Use seperate in maya if it has the data it will work or else you have to manually select the faces and seperate them..

You can do it by remodeling but don't sell it as it is.If possible don't do that as well bro. Model them your self if you want to sell.
