BUILDING A OFF GRID WORKSHOP (Within an awkward space) Build 1.

  • First Attempt "DEMOLITION! (Part one). I show how I started to build my "Off Grid Workshop / Shed Build/ Man Cave" / . But only having an small budget, I've got to come up with some ingenious ideas, along with financial savvy savings as this is a part of the plan to maintain the mortgage free life style that we achieved back in 2021. But first! I need to demolish the original (shockingly built!) building that was obviously built with "skip found materials".

      Hi Linzi, thank you 😊👍. To be fair the workshop is kinda tiny, the floor space is just under 15 sq meters and the carport is around 19 sq meters. Oh deer, sounds like you had a few idiots hitting that fence "😬" 😎👌👍👍👍.

    Amazing job.
    I am planning to do something similar at some point .
    But been confused by friend that I cannot come that close to the fence between me and neighbours… Can you clarify this please so I get better understanding.
    Many thanks in advance

    • @Iveavan
      @Iveavan  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Your best to look on your local authority's website regarding planning rules for guidance. For me, from memory, the footprint of the workshop is below 15 square meters, and the height is below 2.5mt. Therefore, I was ok to do this according to my local authority. However! There is around a metre gap between the boundary lines, between myself and the neighbours fence. The overgrown hedge had pushed their fence forwards. They have now cut down the hedge and redone their fence. 👌👍

  • @UKvet246
    @UKvet246 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Just out of curiosity are there any restrictions on going downwards, appreciated this could present other issues but my thoughts are to gain height go lower.

    • @Iveavan
      @Iveavan  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It'll be something I'd strongly suggest that you ask your 'local planning authority ' about. As it may be under / considered an 'engineering
      operation' under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, especially if you intend to use mechanical machinery to dig down. They are extremely helpful and good to deal with from my experience with them, they usually do answer queries fairly quickly too! 😉👌👍👍👍.

    Are you building a new van?

    • @Iveavan
      @Iveavan  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm refitting out the old one, The intention was there to buy a new one, even veiwed quite a few vans. But I'm not going to pay the over inflated price for one at the moment bud. What I will be doing to the original van will be made transferable to a "future van" 😉👍👍👍...

    • @davidcrowley3447
      @davidcrowley3447 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Iveavan your van is brilliant. Why would you want another?
      Are you sticking with ivecos in the future?
      I've toyed with selling mine but I'm to attached as I've restored it, fitted it out and keep adding to it. I have a sited touring caravan too but the iveco is my favourite. The only downside is its a MWB and I can't get a swivel seat bracket for the double seat anywhere as they just don't make them.

    • @Iveavan
      @Iveavan  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Your right! I don't, and that was my thinking too. However our needs have changed and require something more practical and multipurpose. Hence the reasoning of refitting and gaining more then one use out of it, for when it's not in use. (a battery bank for being off grid for the home). I see plenty of people asking, regarding the double seat swivel base for the Iveco upon Facebook, but never seen the end result 🤔. It must be doable 🤔. I'm fitting a swivel base upon mine but only for an single seat as its only Dawn and myself that use the van bud 👌👍👍👍.

    • @Iveavan
      @Iveavan  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers matey 😎👍, I'll keep an eye out on Facebook for it 👌. Basically, I glued the "EPDM" upon the wall and chased out an channel (around 200mm above the workshops roof level) through the mortar of the wall and pushed in the flashing/fascia plate (especially for EPDM) within the wall and glued in using 'UV proof all weather' mastic sealant 😎👌👍👍👍...
