I became mortgage free last year. The sense of relief was very emotional. I rang my wife to tell her that we now owned the house. She was in Aldi at the time. Her reaction caused quite a response.
Ahhh, great to see Simon 👌👍. It's definitely a huge relief for us, too! I would hate to think what the mortgage repayment would be now due to interest rises, let alone the cost to heat that house up "😬" . We definitely did the right thing at the right time bud 😉👍👍👍....

Congrats. We’ve been mortgage free for several years but this is not all it sounds - the reality is that the ‘other’ bills e.g. electric, gas, internet, road tax, home insurance, car insurance all adds up to almost as much as the mortgage payment so although we are mortgage free we still need to find money each month to live. This is the tricky bit as I still haven’t found a way to sustain this with out needing to work. The goal for me is to be mortgage free AND not needing to work e.g early retirement but this is simply not possible without some kind of passive income.
Thank you! We're kinda lucky as we overpaid our mortgage for years, (this was installed into me as a kid). We 'flipped properties and cars' , I worked upto 60 hrs a week prior to selling the house. 18 months on, I'm still 'jobless' and we manage to keep all household, car/campervan insurance's bills down to around £500 a month, and have healthy savings from years of hard work, Dawn enjoys her job (Planning Engineer) and continues to work from home (her choice not mine) I'm currently carrying out home improvements as the house we bought hadn't been lived in for a few years and was in poor /maintained condition. Long term though, like you say, Yes! you definitely need an passive income, something I'm working on now 😊👍. All the best and Merry Christmas ☺️👍👍👍....

Good luck, I was stuck in jobs just being a number to them. Decided to go it alone 5 years ago and I honestly could never ever work for anyone again. I earn more money, work less hours and I've only myself to answer to.

jumping into the unknown is the best thing you can do in most cases. By removing things from your life (such as as job) you open your space up for new better things. As long as you dont hold fear this really is the best way to transform things so that life is more exciting and more reflects your passions. Some call this process 'Law of attraction', where things come to you that match the energy you give out.

I done the same in January, I’m an electrical engineer and just had enough of everything to do with the job. Took 5 months off bought a van and just go around now doing general house maintenance / repairs / renovations. (I’m quite handy with most building trades)
And I’m loving life bud 😁 I go to work with a spring in my step, I don’t get myself stressed out. And if somethings not going right or gone wrong 🤷🏼♂️then
Yea perhaps I’ll not make as much profit as I’d thought or unforeseen costs eat into profits, but hey no one’s been hurt the job will get finished, I’ve a few quid in the bank, a roof over my head and food in the cupboards. So why get stressed in the rat race anymore? Should have bloody done it years ago 👍🏼
