  • Mike Glover spent 18-years in the US Army and then spent time as a government contractor for OGA. He served as a SGM in Special Forces and deployed multiple times to combat theaters.
    Watch as he reacts to the video and breaks down how each of them acts and shares what he might do differently based on his CQB experience in the situation at hand. He and Fieldcraft Survival Director of Media Austin Lester discuss the details of the home invasion video and how you can be more prepared for a situation like this if it happens in your own home.
    Mike is the Founder and CEO of Fieldcraft Survival, a company he founded to help educate, train, and equip the everyday citizen for the worst-case scenario.

      It's a tactic my aunt taught me about CQB, its boiled down to 3 things and I'm pretty sure its 1 speed (doesn't means go fast but judge the situation) 2 maintain momentum and agression (dont give ground unless necessary and take what your enemy gives you) and 3 your brain is your most dangerous weapon so use it

    I taught my wife very similar tactic.
    Explained that when going after the bad guy in your house , you forfit a tactical advantage.
    Lock the bedroom door, take a concealed position with line of sight on the door.
    IF that door breaks open, then shoot when they enter .
    Nothing in the house is worth dying for. Things can be replaced. Breaking into a locked bedroom also establishes the bad guy's intent to do harm.
    Just my opinion

      Only time otherwise is when you live with people who can't defend themselves if there's a threat. If something goes bump in the night I have to check it out to make sure my loved ones are safe. Only saving grace is if anyone is in the house the dogs will turn the corner and get their attention before I do.

    I got into an argument with one of my friends once who didn't talk to me for a month because I told her that I would absolutely shoot an intruder. She said "You would kill someone over stuff? You would take a life over things?" I said "No. But I would to save myself or family. That person has already thought about what they're going to do if someone is home. And the fact they still came in means they're more than likely willing to take my life. So yes. I would take a life to protect myself and my family."

      They have been treated the same all throughout history. It's only recently that a thief was downgraded on the crime severity scale. They even hung horse thieves as little as 140 years ago. The first time I had a gun pointed at me was during my job as a pizza delivery boy at age 19. It was already at some apartments known for crime & it was a small stub nose 38 revolver under a bandanna.
    I gave him the money & also purposely some free large pizza coupons that were numbered & were on file.
    So even in that situation I was already doing the most I can to at least get this guy arrested.
    Sure enough his girlfriend used the stolen coupon we called the police and they got her and him in the parking waiting for their order which was like 3 days after he robbed me.

    A year ago this month, I bought my gun. While I was in the hospital back then, someone broke into my house twice. I have 2 cats and a deaf dog. The cats are good indicators if there's a strange in the yard. Since I'm retired and spend most of my time playing computer games, I don't have any real set routine. Many nights, I've been up til dawn. My gun is locked , loaded and no more than an arms length from me at all times. There are no kids here. If I have company, depending on who it is, I will clear my gun and remove the magazine until they leave.

      @cannondaleman1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      My living situation is very similar to yours, except that I'm not much into games and I have no pets. The only thing that I do differently is, when company arrives, regardless of who it is, I holster my tool onto my side, cover it with a shirt. Your guests don't need to know you are carrying. I never have an unloaded tool in my house. I'm glad you got yourself a tool. Stay safe!!!

      So.... you clear the gun, remove the magazine till they leave..... but someone comes in BEFORE they leave and now find you + your company unarmed (since you made your gun irrelevant at this point and chances are your company is unarmed). Now you are ALL at the invaders mercy.
      Or.... you can leave your gun armed and ready to go and SITLL within reach/on you and now are the protector of you, your property AND your guests.

      You have good decernment!
      Because I care, here's some completely unsolicited advice (to take as you will):
      The world is your oyster! Choose well no matter how poorly others want for you.
      Be as self sufficient as possible. But be intentional about building quality relationships.
      Get your GED if you haven't yet. Try not to close doors that you may want to be open in the future.
      The military has helped a great many of us... We earned the benefits we received from it.
      You are fearfully and wonderfully made, unique and beloved, just as you are. Treat yourself well.
      Understand that no matter how bad things get... Things change in time.
      Your integrity and character are precious and cannot be stolen but can be forfeited--guard them.
      Help others as much and often as possible. Such is Good and mutually beneficial.
      And remind yourself often that ain't none of us perfect. Humility and love are the greatest strengths.
      (That's all of my grandfatherly advice for now... It's what I share with my most beloved ones.) 😊

But the real pure and wonderful beauty of the 2nd Amendment is that this 100 pound Asian woman with little training at 4 in the morning can fight off 3 men! God created men and Sam Colt made them equal. What would this story be if she lived in England? Hold onto your rights! Actually fight for them. Don’t just wear some dopey “Molan Labe” tee-shirt. Write your congressmen, vote pro 2A, take someone who’s never shot a gun before to the range and teach them. We need to keep winning people to our side or our rights will be chipped away little by little.

    I honestly never knew about the limp wrist causing a malfunction. Great information

    • @pavegray
      @pavegray 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      With semi-automatic handguns, limp-wristing can cause a failure to eject and/or a failure to feed as it will impede proper travel of the slide (it dissipates the energy required for the slide to come fully back to properly eject the spent casing and feed the next round). Firm grip and presentation of the handgun, especially if one-handed, is essential to avoiding such malfunctions.
      In any event, you now may have a weapon that requires you to clear a malfunction to get it back in the fight which takes time you might not have.
      You always have a chance to suffer malfunctions, but avoid upping the possibility it will happen if at all possible. Training and practice are key in this endeavor.

    • @benc6690

      @A B You watch the video with the cop that got shot in his hand too? Lesson there is practice offhand!

    • @chadh3441
      @chadh3441 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This also applies to some semi-auto shotguns as well. The "inertia" driven type of shotguns will malfunction and cause a short stroke(encountered with pump action shotguns) type of situation. There is more than one reason that you are instructed to hold the weapon tight against your shoulder and to have your dominate leg be the furthest back to help solidify your upper body. I honestly think that a lot of the reviews for the AR or magazine fed shotguns, which often appear to have a lot of feeding/cycling issues, never take into account that the shooters form might be part of the problem. I haven't heard anyone speak about it anyway. The blame is usually placed on the manufacturer and/or the 2¾ rounds.(besides not following the manufacturers recommended break in procedures)

  • @jwilliamsvids
    @jwilliamsvids 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I love the review of these types of videos. I can't put myself in these situations, nor would I want to, but the analysis is certainly helpful. I can watch what someone else did and listen to your feedback on the situation and think about how I might react, or want to react. And also, by having gone through these situations I should have a least a more augmented base of experience to draw from. Keep on doing the great work!
