      @Ura PillowBiter I’m going to nitpick with my own opinion no one asked for. I don’t agree that an intent to steal property warrants death. I simply don’t view materials on the same level I view human life. However, if a robber breaks into my home to steal things, obviously I can’t know his intentions so naturally I have to assume to the worst in which case I have to escalate to deescalate.

      But there is a dangerous downside to always having a weapon at hand.
      A. You are more likely to use that weapon to commit suicide, or murder a loved one than you are to use it in self defence. That's why the Israeli army stopped their soldiers from taking their guns home, because they were committing suicide. (That may change now after the attack by Hamas).
      B. Gun theft in the US is at crisis levels, with studies varying from 150,000 to 300,000 guns being stolen every year from legal gun owners. The more guns you have lying around, the more likly it is that one of them will get stolen, and used to rob someone else.

    When you have guns, have a gun safe. You mentioned the friends of the daughter were in league with the perps who had guns. Try to know as best you can "friends" that are coming over to your house. I always had a policy, no adults at home, no friends come over. Might be old fashioned, but it is a good policy. I trained my kids in gun safety, shooting, and maintenance at very early ages. If both the wife and I were not there, at the right age, the kids had guns for defense. The kids were extremely responsible and respected my concerns. They are grown now, but they are training their families right. The 28yrs as an Army Infantryman imprints on the kids to a degree. I do not know how to process this video really. I agree with your statement Mike ref what you would do to the perps. I 100% agree.

They are all different bro, and you have to know how to open most of them in order to pass by, especially without being seen/heard. If you have choke points, install a $50 pet gate. Those who need to know how to open the gate, open it with ease with a few times to practice. Those that have no practice get lined up, or even better panic and bounce, depending on intelligence.

      People scoff at airsoft and video games, but I've always said that if you haven't had the unfortunate experience to be in combat airsoft and video games can be a very real reality check on how fast a fight really happens. In airsoft the parallel is pretty obvious. In a video game it is more dramatic when you consider that your character has infinite stamina and perfect weapon handling skills. When someone asks me how good they are at shooting, I pretty much always compare them to a character from a FPS like PUBG, Tarkov or something as the bare minimum. If you are slower or less accurate than that, you are at a huge disadvantage in how well you can respond to someone. People think they are "good enough" until they actually try to compete against a real human.
      One reason I like PUBG is that since it is based on ARMA, there is a lot of micro terrain and room clearing situations so it really drives home the importance of situational awareness not just 360 but also up and down. You can be shot from the most unlikely of places the second you start being lazy and not checking all your corners and thinking about likely directions of threats. It's not as good as a force on force scenario, but it's cheaper and faster to play over and over to remind yourself to keep your head on a swivel and always use the environment to your advantage. You could have a really powerful gun gamewise like the Groza, but some dude with a pistol hiding in a corner can just one tap you. It really puts into perspective what a huge disadvantage bad tactics are.

    • @SunshineHB
      @SunshineHB 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DaveSmith-cp5kj Training is everything. And any training is better than no training. I wont go into detail about how much money I spend at the range, but I can agree with learning a certain level of awareness from gaming. It actually goes both ways. My example is a game called Hunt: Showdown I play with my buddies. I am almost ALWAYS the first person to spot an enemy team sneaking around, because it is muscle memory for me to always be scanning angles and watching for movement against the horizon. If there is any sort of terrain for someone to hide behind, im scanning it every 5 seconds until we have cleared it by either passing by it or actively checking it.
      What you dont learn from gaming is muscle memory and all of the quirky stuff a weapon might do in a stressful situation. That is why I go simple with Glock. Easy to operate, easy to fix if it jams. I saw an interesting video about a kid from a country that doesnt allow real guns, but allows airsoft. He came to America and trained with some of the top competition shooters and was doing serisously amazing shooting and reloads. His only adjustment was to the recoil and it took him about 2 minutes to figure that out.

    I live in the state of Illinois, at a CCW class yesterday to "renew" my license I am told if someone comes into my house I could be arrested for shooting them???? I say what? The teacher says he or she could be there just to get something to eat.. looks like I am going to move from this state, but in the mean time if someone breaks into my home and I am in it I guess we will just go to trial. Such BS

      Train the family.
      Prep the house.
      Know the neighborhood
      Or.....
      Never let your family leave the protection of your presence.
      We both know sometimes we aren't around to save them.
      I'd prefer to have a operation procedure in place for such events, while the police are minutes away, my neighbors are seconds.
      Most likely in this event, my family has already shot you. If not several gentleman walking softly and carrying big sticks will be with you shortly. And yes, the cops are coming too.

We need to OVERfund the police for the best backup you could hope to have. First thing that came to my mind was as you said, people that usually rob the place typically know you have firearms. I also had an intuitive feeling that one of the individuals currently at the home told the dirt bags that their friends parents are gonna be gone.
    I also have a feeling it’s the one in the living room where the guy standing with his pants around his ankles, or knees.
    This could’ve went South really fast. For example one of the guys could’ve got scared or something spooked him a little bit, and since he is inexperienced and finger on the trigger. Well an ND could Have occurred or worse.
    I’m happy that everyone was OK no one got hurt. This video is definitely a good teaching moment too for the young ones.
    Pick your friends wisely because you’re inviting them into your home.
    This is your castle. When shit bags are accidentally let into your home like that, even unbeknownst to you it can cause indefinite damage, please choose your friends wisely. In general in life this is important.

    I was a victim of a home invasion when I was 12…. I knew enough about firearms to realize one was a fake. Probably a BB gun and the other didn’t have the msg. Maybe one chambered. It was from someone my mom knew and it was planned by someone in the house at the same time. They stole what they knew we had and we were already broke so they didn’t want money.
    Long story short I don’t pocket dump when I get home. I carry until it’s time to shower and get to bed. Nightstand gun comes to the restroom.

  • @Handcannon77
    @Handcannon77 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The scary part is not only are home invasions becoming more prevalent, but just robberies(both armed and unarmed) are as well, and the same can be said about many other types of crime in this country. Not to mention the mental health crisis in this country, and everything else that contributes to the number of random shootings in recent times. Since my father passed, ive really taken it upon myself to make sure my mother is secure and safe(especially since the woman is a saint, and sees the best in people to a fault) since I was kind of just born hyper vigilant and hyper aware(probably due in part to ADHD), and always thinking ahead about something, meanwhile my brother is rather lackadaisical and aloof just like many people are when it comes to security, and being prepared for bad scenarios. And even as I show my mother all of these things, and how the police wont be there to help/save you, she still gives me an incredulous look every time I yell at her for leaving "x" door unlocked, and when I mention how we need to get a security system and firearms.
    Apparently because no one in the family has ever been big on firearms, and because shes (luckily) never been the victim of any kind of robbery/home invasion/or whatever else in her 66 years on the planet, she remains perfectly fine with having absolutely no plan, no security system(outside of the dogs), and no firearms. She genuinely think the dogs are her security(even though theyre merely an early warning system at best) and that she would just call the police in an event of something happening, so her entire "plan" is essentially just hope nothing ever bad happens. I honestly dont know what to say or do anymore to try and convince her otherwise, its frustrating since I cant always be there to make sure shes protected. Im genuinely afraid that nothing will change her mind, until something DOES actually happen. It boggles my mind that people can have this type of attitude when it comes to protecting themselves, their family, and everything they work hard for.

    Maybe I am wrong, but it seems to me that having a networked security system is a bad idea. Think about it, if you can activate and disarm you alarm system and view cameras from your cellphone, what is stopping a criminal with some technological know how from spying on you and your family? And/or disarming your system. I have a camera system that is independent from the network. Yes, I can't view anything in real time, but I have piece of mind knowing my "privacy" is secure as much as it can be in this digital age

It is insane that local LE takes the position that exposing this incident put their investigation at risk. It is ridiculous to try to minimize these acts whether or nor there was inside collaboration. This situation is no less dangerous, because of insider participation.
