He's late 30's, re-surfaced hip, yet still pushing all the new gen to their limits. He is just a better player than the current generation. In the era of the 4, the current crew would not lay a glove on them. Just think of the dominance the 4 had week in week out. Couldn't love Andy any more. Utter warrior...the Black Knight of tennis....'come back, i'll bit yer ankles!'
On grass he was probably the best player in the world for a couple of years. On hardcourt he was a top contender. On clay he never reached the level of any of the big 3. Certainly not Nadal.
@@marcusbrspThat’s just hard to agree with. He was briefly the best grass player in 2016, but “a couple years” is pushing it. The best in 2015 were Fed and Djokovic, and the best in 2017 was Fed
@@extrachandelier8845 It's not an opinion though. I'm talking about 2012-2013. He lost the Wimbledon final to Federer in 2012. A final he arguably should've won. A couple of months later he won the Olympics (on grass), easily (against Federer). 3-0. He then won Wimbledon 2013. So, he was clearly the best grass player 2012 and 2013.
This version of Murray definitely adds to his legacy the way he fights despite his physical disadvantages, the way he has to use his mental capabilities just to compete, for me his matches are the most interesting on the apt tour.every Murray match Is like a war at the moment.
Of course this has added to his legacy. No-one has done what he has done after that sort of operation. Thing is; many people don't know or understand what he's had to have done. He is surly on court but over the years, I have seen his dry, sarcastic, deadpan sense of humour as a real refreshing change. I hope he plays Wimbledon and I hope that they don't take him out back and shoot him on some piddling little outside court. He deserves a proper send off, from this tournament in particular...
I think a lot of tennis stars are demonstrating injury doesn't have to be the end of your current lifestyle or career and that's something we should all be promoting.
YES! You nailed what I've been intuitively feeling. There's so many armchair tennis fans on youtube with quite frankly rage-inducingly bad takes; and Murray "embarrassing himself" and "tarnishing his legacy" by getting back into the top 50 IN THE WORLD despite having a metal hip...ye...it's quite the fucking take. 🙄
Excellently put. Really enjoyed this. 👌 I think you’re damn right too ! It’s amazing watching him beat anyone!

Andy Murray will always be one of the greatest of the sport. At his peak, he was as good as the big 3.

Lol at his peak he was no way near the big 3 .
He was never as good as big 3. Probably only in 2016 season.

Top 10 player of all time. No doubt. Three slams and 12 finals and gold medal
Absolutely, think how difficult it is to just get in the main draw!

Do you feel his 2 Olympic Gold medals in singles are understated?
Yes...especially the 2016 one...
Not a 3 or 4 day thing.
