Murray wrested the number 1 spot off peak Djokovic in 2016, and was ultimately cut down at his peak by injury. The guy's an all time great who just happened to play in the same era as the three best players of all time.
Stan and Delpotro were great players but not at the level of Murray. They both won one Masters title. Andy had fourteen. As well as his three slams which Stan also won Murray won two Olympic golds in the singles event. He also lost umpteen slam finals There were periods when there was genuinely a big four but Andy just didn’t have the consistency of the big three and obviously injuries took its toll on him. But at his best he could compete with the very best the world has ever saw

What's the problem with the timing of Murray coaching Djokovic announcement? Rafa's retirement has been a main talking point for a YEAR including several "this is the last one" tournaments at the French, Olympics and finally now at the Davis cup. Rafa's prolonged retirement journey actually overshadowed Murray's retirement at the Olympics, if anything.
Nobody knows Joker's game better than a guy who has fought with him for decades and who has beat him in Slams... Joker doesn't need coaching he needs someone who can watch him and know when he's doing something wrong as well as someone to talk strategy with that he respects...winner move!
I've always had great respect for Murray, and knowledge of the game is also elite. In fact, I've always imagined that of the Big 4, Murray would be the best coach. (I don't know for sure, obviously.) Djokovic has reached a peak that is not often seen in sports, a lot of artists and movie directors when they reach a certain age get to a “fuck it” period. I think this is one of the few times we’ve seen it in sport lol.

Murray was a master of playing Djokovic's style of tennis, but he was also better at making strategic adjustments and picking the best spots to deviate. Djokovic just had the better physical talent. imo
Novak most probably wanted Ivan Lendl to coach him but Lendl turns it down. So the likelihood of getting Lendl 's secret expertise is through Andy who was coached by Lendl to three GS titles. Even with this second-hand acquisition of Lendl's technical strategy, it's still unlikely Novak will beat Sinner or Alcaraz.
I have the greatest respect for Novak, but I don’t see another major before he retires… For the first time in his career, there is a possibility that the crowds will be rooting for this pairing but it seems too late. Best of luck Novak!
Not sure this is going to work. Any of the American player would benefit tremendously from Murray as a coach. Novak?, he wants a slam. The endurance and mental health required for that, will be a tough mix with those two personalities. Both legends though… looking forward to see the results.
