      @@mentalhaze4226 Bit of a gray area actually. The "dad" was grabbed first, and threatened so would have been perfectly within his rights to strike back in real life. Context is key. In a film, its provided that the parent(s) are abusive, in real life, you'd need more.

      @Yaroslav L nah. I don't believe that. There's no magic moment where people wake up and think "I've been horrible for way too long" and the Kimble type attributes are fine. Here's the issue. Kimble was in the middle of an act of violence. Kids are like sponges. They see that, even if you don't think they know what's going on, they see a little bit and think it's all ok. Then they become parents who think this type of behaviour is acceptable and the cycle continues. We need someone who's willing to take a stand, or multiple someone's, hopefully parents, who see this stuff and call parents out. Too many times people suspect but say nothing. THAT is an issue.

      @Gage Taylor; You need to rewatch the video again. The father lifted his hand to introduce himself to the teacher and then the teacher assaulted him and then the father defended himself by attempting to subdue the teacher. If you go by the 90's law then you would be correct in that the father attempted to assault the teacher but since your post is from 2019 then we know that the teacher blatantly assaulted an innocent parent and that parent attempted and failed to defend himself.

      Right there with you brother. Some scumbag knocked his wife out cold with an iron and then dragged her into the bath-tub. Her 5 year old called 999 (he knew from past experience to do so...) when she wasn't responding. We arrive and 10 minutes later he shows up, drunk as a skunk and looking for a fight. It took everything in me not to batter the life out of him... After cuffing him and getting another station to take him away, I had to comfort the crying boy while the ambulance helped resuscitate his mother. I still remember his words "daddy hurts mummy! he hurts her all the time!". I tried to reach out and put my arm around him, just to comfort him and he jolted away from me... that's when I realised he was absolutely terrified of men because of his father.... His mother never did give us a statement and instead insisted she would break up with him. She moved away shortly after and I never did find out if she did leave him.

    Although this scene is played out as comedy, I absolutely support legal flogging and/or beat down of a proved child batterer and here’s why: IT WORKS.
    It’s an effective deterrent against all but the hardest cases. Parents and/or stepparents who batter children are BULLIES. They don’t have the appropriate intellectual and emotional regulation to empathize with their victims or even relate to them as human. They are selfish and self-absorbed. The only way they will learn to keep their hands to themselves is if they directly suffer consequences for not doing so.
    I bet a LOT of child battery would evaporate OVERNIGHT if abusers knew they would be severely beaten as legal consequence.
    How do you stop a bully in its tracks? Someone bigger/stronger beats the hell out of the bully. It always works. The bully didn’t instantly learn bullying was cruel and wrong; he just didn’t want to get beaten up.
    Jail time, anger management therapy, parenting education are all good, but a solid beating will deter the abuser immediately.
    To Parents: A friendly warning: if you passively stand by while your spouse beats your kid, DON’T DREAM your child/ren will EVER forget. Forgiveness may be possible but the let down, the denial of safety and protection to the vulnerable is simply unforgettable. For the rest of your life, you will be the mom/dad who did nothing. Your actions will be resented and despised. Be sure you’re cool with that.

    • @CherryFrog321
      @CherryFrog321 5 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Yeah. People seem to think that some nicey-nice approach is the answer. Abusive parents will usually end up getting the child back even if they do get them taken away, because the courts are more concerned for the parent's "rights" towards their kid than they are for the kid's right to not be harmed. People think that just taking the kid, and ordering the parent to take "parenting classes" or "anger management" courses is going to change them. It won't. Half the time, the child ends up dead after they're given back to the parent. I honestly just hate when someone defends a child abuser by saying something like, "well, that was how they were raised so they just don't know any better. They just need help and need to be taught how to be better parents." While it is true that most child abusers were abused themselves as kids, there are also plenty of people who were abused who vowed to never hurt a child the way they were hurt. So it is a choice, whether you're going to continue the cycle or break it. And someone who chooses to repeat it is already too hardened and has had obviously had all the empathy and compassion beaten out of them. They won't respond to "parenting classes" and will scorn anyone who tries to tell them to discipline their child in any other way other than beating them. They are convinced that the way they were raised was good, and that it "toughened them up" and they "turned out fine," so they have to raise their child the same way. What these people need is a good taste of their own medicine. They need to be reminded of what it was like to be abused as a child. I totally agree, beat them up and flog them and see how tough they are then!!

    • @chrismc410
      @chrismc410 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      By that logic a bullet to the abuser's/bully's head in public for all to see would be better still. It would do all you said with the added bonus guarantee that he won't do it again. Also sends a message that abuse and bullying will not be tolerated and dealt with swiftly and harshly.
      Most would-be bullies or abusers with any sense of self-preservation, will at the very least think twice about bullying and/or abusing someone knowing they will die if caught or found out.

    I grew up with an abusive father who was not only a bad father but also a horrible husband to my mother. My dad's side of the family, they're evil. My mom and her side of the family were better people. My memory of this film may have been distant but I remember one of my parents watching this on television back in the day and both back then and now. I felt like I was seeing Arnold sucker punch my dad and called him out on his abusive behavior and how a father or husband should never do that to their children or their wives. My childhood in the 90s when going to school as well as in the early 2000s when middle school and high school came along were a trying time for me because I did get bullied at school but at some point, I got the teachers on my side whenever I was in a bully situation. But still, Arnold is a hero.
