Thing is that many child abusers end up the way they are because they were abused as children too. What you said about victims of abuse growing up to not be right in the head is no joke. According to studies, a third or more of people who were abused as children grow up to become abusers themselves. It's fucked up. Many of them are victims who never got any help, and as a result they turned into the things that they hated. Fucking tragic.

That's inaccurate. Feelings have no place in the legal system, and since it would be a fact that the person did not physically or otherwise attempt to harm the person who attacked them directly in any way, (whether you feel they deserved it or not), that by definition is assault. Since there would likely be cameras to prove that, there is no way they wouldn't be charged without the child abuser having a huge and valid lawsuit against the hospital, and a huge backlash on those working within the legal system for not upholding the laws as they are written. Ffs
All time OG clip. Who can’t relate to Doug wanting to bash that father’s life in? ER was always able to put the viewer in those uncomfortable positions
In Canada, the abuser would get no more than a suspended sentence....while the Covid compliance violator behind him would get hefty fine, jail time, public shaming... and a whipping once Dougie Ford legislated it that very moment
I'll never forget that one time I was working in the ER and a kid was brought in by his parents. The father was a cowardly POS, but he wasn't as bad as the mother. Long story short, two female nurses took her to one of the rooms and tuned her up before both parents got escorted away in cuffs.
Never had to deal with any abusive parents while I was working as a PCT in the ER, but we did deal with quite a few reckless drivers and their victims. The pleasure wasn't in the hospital staff going off on them, but in the police chewing them up and spitting them out before arresting them.
- Hey Doug! Wait! Dont punch him!!! - Why the hell no?!?!?! - You gonna hurt your hand and thats bad for you as a doctor. Here take this... * *hands him solid metal crutch* *
I’m not ashamed to say I was cheering for Doug when he started that power walk to beat the POS up. And I liked how he confirmed it was the right shoe before punching him too. Dudes unpredictable and a loose cannon normally, but when it came to kids, he always looked out for them. Also, I kind of like how Malik didn’t run to stop Doug. He walked fast but not fast enough to catch up with him. He probably wanted Doug to hit the guy a couple times before prying him off.
i did do something similar to this. i was visiting my GF at the time, she shared a place with a female friend who had 2 kids. the younger of the kids, he climbed up a cupboard, and it came crashing down, he wasnt hurt, but he was terrified. now in my books, thats punishment enough, he wasnt gonna do it again. but his mother started screaming in his face, calling him a little c**t amongst other things, im a survivor of child abuse myself, and i have really bad PTSD, so i had flashbacks. i snapped out of it in time to see her raise a hand about to hit the poor kid, closed fist. thats when stepped in, grabbed her wrist and told her if she hit him, i would call the cops and the department of child safety. ended up doing it anyways, cost me the GF as well because i refused to let the matter go, even though she begged me. i broke it off cos i refuse to be with someone who would even consider turning a blind eye to child abuse.
Good job for putting those children's safety ahead of a pointless relationship. I would have done the same thing. In some cases it's better to lose a relationship than standing by and let child abusers get away with it.
Kinda wish Malik and Carter joined in on the beatdown. Greene and the others too. Scenes like this should go: “Doug calm down!” “He stomped on his daughter’s back!” *everyone joins in*
He didn’t just stomp her on the back,he stomped her on the back and then kicked her off the balcony…I honestly thought if Greene had known why Doug attacked the guy he wouldn’t have blamed him,if not joined in

That’s the job, I would bet. I was an extra on the set of one of the God’s Not Dead movies (don’t judge- they were filming a few hours away from where I live and I thought “eh, sounds like fun”). They filmed the same scene about a dozen times, I think. They even had the audience (it was a church scene) sit in different places for different takes. Interesting process, watching filming be done.
First responder here : sadly we can't do vigilante justice in the field. But the most rewarding feeling is when the proper authorities are called. I had a bed ridden girl with to many broken bones. When I was a child I've learned that our neighbor was abusing and molested all of his kids. He was a dangerous man. Everybody knew but nobody helped those kids except my mom. When they were younger my mom always helped with their wounds and was there to guide them and when they were old enough she helped them to find safe house. I still remember all of them. I hope they are alright wherever they are. They were five of them.😔.
Yes. You are absolutely correct by saying that the kid will remember the abuse for their whole life. I was abused by my father as an adolescent. Today I'm 65 years old. And yes it's very true. It has affected my whole life. I did take professional therapy sessions for two years. As per request of my new bride back forty years ago.

Doc was on his way to tell the father that his wife was in a coma and the two children , 4 & 7 had died. he realized the drunk was in another bay, with fairly minor injuries and griping about where his pain meds were. that was 8 or 9 years ago and I bet the twat STILL hasn't gotten so much as an aspirin.
Doctor Ross was a fun guy but the buck stopped when it came to the kiddos. I knew once the nurse said "Well you should see for yourself." Dr. Ross was not gonna be a very happy.
I had a similar dream compared to this. This Hispanic mother and daughter came into church and the mother was yelling at her and then started beating on her. they were stopping him cause they didn't want him to ruin his career and face criminal charges, of course any of us would do the same, but we have too much to lose
back in the mid 80's and my mates broke into a guys flat and beat the living daylights out of him. all because we could tell something was off about how he acted with his "daughter" turns out she had was his daughter and the mum died in childbirth, but he sexually abused her every single day for 12 years, he got 7 broken ribs, a shattered jaw, pelvis, multiple breaks in his legs, ruptured lung, cracked eye socket and life in prison and i helped the girl readjust to normal life after adopting her, shes now a therapist for abused children and i couldnt be more proud of her

I grew up with a few kids who faced abuse like that, and not one of them was right in the head. Child abusers make me want to walk up to said abusers and say "Hello, I'd like to introduce you to three friends of mine in child protective services. Smith, Wesson, and Hornady."
Nicely said
And a few of my friends from Bosnia who are expert at long range artillery
My boy Remington would be happy to get in on some of that
Thing is that many child abusers end up the way they are because they were abused as children too. What you said about victims of abuse growing up to not be right in the head is no joke. According to studies, a third or more of people who were abused as children grow up to become abusers themselves. It's fucked up. Many of them are victims who never got any help, and as a result they turned into the things that they hated. Fucking tragic.
Hornady?
I see nothing wrong with Doug beating up that guy. If you abuse a child you don’t deserve mercy.
Nope you don't.
Ross is a great doctor he'd do anything to protect them kids
You see nothing wrong? Was Doug judge, jury and executioner? How about EVIDENCE that proves the father is responsible? There are many people who wear that same boot. Totally wrong. This IS a made up TV show! Try living in the real world of law and order!
You said it wrong. It goes like this: "if you abuse a child, you don't deserve to live". At least.. Thats thw way it goes for me anyway..
like arnold in kidergarden cop !
No court in the land would convict him if they document that child's back. He might receive awards, hugs, kisses, gifts, proposals of marriage, but he will do no time. The AMA might have a problem with it though.
Julie Enslow they’d probably convict, but he wouldn’t do time for it. Especially since it was only one punch. He’d definitely be fired though.
@@76JStucki
In real life, probably. But he didn't get any of that on the show. And I swear once people knew why - even if he were fired - he would be a very popular guy. Which he generally was so that's nothing new! LoL
Sometimes medical people close ranks, which in a case like this would be a good thing.

Absolutely 💯

I'll never forget that one time I was working in the ER and a kid was brought in by his parents. The father was a cowardly POS, but he wasn't as bad as the mother. Long story short, two female nurses took her to one of the rooms and tuned her up before both parents got escorted away in cuffs.
I bet the sound were great.
Well done to those two nurses.
@@AnarkeeSoundVibes Now that's what I call avenging angels
Never had to deal with any abusive parents while I was working as a PCT in the ER, but we did deal with quite a few reckless drivers and their victims. The pleasure wasn't in the hospital staff going off on them, but in the police chewing them up and spitting them out before arresting them.
Doug made sure he was guilty before attacking him.
Yeah, he was like “GIMME YO FOOT-“
Even if the dad had been smart enough to change his shoes, doug waa going after him..

Dr. Doug Ross a great MD who cares about his patients more than any TV Doctor ever
Thank you Dr. Ross
Oh man I've been looking for this clip forever!!!! Thank you so much, this was such a seminal moment for me when I was watching this show.
Huge respect to you. Well done.
I hope those kids have a new family.
Corporal punishment is horrible. I research it as best as I can.
Good job for putting those children's safety ahead of a pointless relationship. I would have done the same thing. In some cases it's better to lose a relationship than standing by and let child abusers get away with it.

Kinda wish Malik and Carter joined in on the beatdown. Greene and the others too. Scenes like this should go:
“Doug calm down!”
“He stomped on his daughter’s back!”

From a doctor's ethic standpoint, I wouldn't stand by Ross punching the father. From a father standpoint, I completely understand.
If I ever enter the medical field, I will not be working in Pediatrics. Because the moment someone like this comes in, I would lose my medical license, and maybe earn some jail time.
You won’t do it. Trust me. It’s hard to explain but you won’t.
You would not be convicted....
Why is the abusive father dressed like birthday clown? Even the large shoes.
I would have done exactly the same thing. Anyone who picks on a tiny child is DISGUSTING. The footprint shows it all.

When Dr Doug said “ son of a bitch “ you know shit is going to hit the fan.
This is why I could never be a doctor. I would NOT be able to keep my cool with people like this.

When I was a child I've learned that our neighbor was abusing and molested all of his kids. He was a dangerous man. Everybody knew but nobody helped those kids except my mom. That was very satisfying when Doug teaches the father a "wonderful" lesson to not hit a child.
This is what I always liked about Doug!
He was tough when it was kicking a little girl but when it came to a man he curls up
Typical of abusers. They like to pick on the small and weak-minded.
@@mikepagebrand Parents are responsible for how their kids turn out, children grow up with traditions. And in some cases, child abuse can be hereditary. Who knows that father was probably abused as a child, but it is not an excuse for what he did to his daughter. However no matter how many generations it will take, one kid will be born with the strength and courage to break that chain, forever.
The poster behind him when the orderly restrains him says "Dont create a smoke screen between you and your friends." looks like it s supposed to be an anti-smoking ad, but I also see it as "Talk to your friends if youre in trouble and get help."
it happens. closest thing I got to see in real life was in an ER after a drunk driver ran a family of four off the road.

Doug....the doctor kids deserve
Doug had every right to do that to teach people like that dad know what it feels like to get hit by someone who can fight back.
This is one of the few scenes I remember with clarity. I think it helped me know what to look for in a doctor if I had kids.
First-time I've seen Batman beat up an abusive father
That father learned two things VERY quickly:
1. Never hurt children.
2. Never hurt children anywhere near Batman
I had a similar dream compared to this. This Hispanic mother and daughter came into church and the mother was yelling at her and then started beating on her. I went over and punched her in the face and then the staff members broke us up. They've took us both of us out but not the little girl and the mother had blood coming out of her mouth.
