    I know this is a relatively old video now and well done. Just wanted to mention that I tried the exact same process with my 2008 and the same 501 reader, but the fault didn’t go away. The battery was disconnected before I removed and replaced the seat, but the fault appeared anyway. Tried this method several times to no avail. I was thinking it might be the tensioner itself but I replaced the newer seat with the original and still no correction. I guess it’s dealer time 🙄. But thanks for the video!

      In a couple places, but not this connector, there were some really bad wire crimps in the connector. It drove me crazy because it worked before and all I did was disconnect and reconnect the connector. Apparently moving it caused one of wires to become loose. Don’t know if that is your problem or not. Good luck.

    Thanks for the video. I wasn't sure what code reader/scanner to get until I saw your video. My scanner has a different screen appearance (must be a newer firmware version), but it worked like a charm!

    Just an update for anyone who has this airbag light problem: this solution does still work. I just got my reader delivered and within 2 minutes had the fault code removed. Very simple to use.

    I’m having the same issue on my 2014 Mini Hardtop. Where did you get the scanner. The dealership told me they had to keep my car and check run a diagnostic test on the whole airbag system.

      I purchase it on Amazon. The brand is Creator C501 OBD2 Diagnostic Scanner for BMW Mini Cooper Check Engine Light EPB ABS SRS Code Reader with OBD II Communication Modes 1-10. Cost about $85 which has already paid itself back by avoiding the dealership.

    Would this reset steering wheel lock counter?

      Hi, the scanner i have, CreaDor c501, Going through the menus, i did not see an option to clear the ELV Steering Counter for the Mini. Search Ebay for "Mini ELV steering wheel lock emulator for CAS" which might be helpful. Good Luck

    Do you think the warning chime for a R58 for the electric spoiler can come off or muted?

    • @mcmcminicooper
      @mcmcminicooper  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most likely but you’ll probably mute all chimes. Not real familiar with the R58 but if you are getting the annoying chime because the spoiler is malfunctioning, it may be caused by a broken wire in the harness that runs from the body into the truck lid. Apparently this is a problem with opening and closing the lid and flexing the harness which causes a brown wire to break. See thread www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/stock-problems-issues/325158-active-spoiler.html Good luck!

    Can you clear the airbag code if the passenger seat is not in the vehicle?

    • @mcmcminicooper
      @mcmcminicooper  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’m not sure but guessing no because that is how I got the code. While the seat out was out of the car, I turned on the car to do something. The computer saw the seat wasn’t connected and gave me the code. Good luck

    What that device there that you have to hook your phone ?

    • @mcmcminicooper
      @mcmcminicooper  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you are referring to the black metal bar that attaches to back of the tach. It is magnetic and I have a sticky metal disk on the back of my phone. It holds my phone when driving. There are several different ones out there. The one I have, I had to modify. The magnet and pivot socket was horrible. No matter how much I tighten it, every time I hit a bump, my phone would pivot downward. I eventually took a magnet and pivot from an old windshield mount and modified it to fit the bracket. Holds it much more steady.

    • @mcmcminicooper
      @mcmcminicooper  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it was disconnected and you started the car, you will get the error, even after reconnecting the seat. Once the error is there it can't be removed without a reader. But if you never turned on the car while it was disconnected, the error shouldn't come up unless there is something else wrong, such as a bent terminal pin or loose crimp to a wire. Best of luck.
