    Why not horizontal mount the sheath on the belt? It can help conceal the knife, with it not leaving the beltline.

      Cant get the blade longer than like 4 inches it looks too obvious. Could wear it in the lower back but if you're even kinda chubby and your pants drops you might aswell Carry it open on your belt.

    I’m a fan of scout carry a small to medium fixed blade behind my back shirt covers it. Sits lower enough it doesn’t get in the way if I have a backpack on either. Also bag or shoulder strap carry is great for when I’m hiking I’ve been with people who haven’t even realized I had it until I drew it out to cut something.

    STROUP BRAVO 5 - TAKE OFF THE HEAVY BELT HARDWARE, WRAP KYDEX SHEATH WITH A FEW RANGER BANDS - CARRY IN LT FRONT POCKET - RANGER BANDS GRAB POCKET MATERIAL ON DRAW & SHEATH NEVER COMES OUT. SIMPLE, EFFECTIVE, SHARP & STABBY. BEEN CARRYING FOR OVER A YEAR AND NEVER A SINGLE PROBLEM.
    Also, for the belt sheaths, since you are tending to carry fairly small knives, go with a short dangler and drop the knife into your back pocket. It's still on your belt but the dangler allows the flexibility to make this mode of carry easy. Got that one from my Dad & Grand-Dad when I was still in single digit years old.
    Good presentation. Thanks for sharing.

      I've rigged a couple of push daggers that way-ish - strapoed to bottom of a hip pack or chest rig nut that's the only way its worked for me.

    17:30 one gotcha about using paracord for your neck knife- it's strength creates a risk. If it gets caught on something it won't break free and can cause injury (unlike bead chain, leather, etc). There are hacks out there to add a break away to paracord. Ok, PSA done. Totally enjoy your content!

    I find the the best way to carry mine is a method I got from a video by DJ Urbanovsky when he designed the Gitfo. It works well with kydex/plastic sheaths with good retention. I have a loop of cord running from the tip of the sheath to my belt, just long enough to let the knife sit nicely in the pocket. To draw I just grab the knife and pull: the sheath comes out of the pocket to the end of the loop, and the knife clicks out while the sheath falls out of the way. Re-sheathing is easy, as the sheath is out of the pocket where you can see it. You then put it back in the pocket and carry on.

    Personally my favorite is the belt. I don’t have the issues of concealment because I live in Texas. I always openly carry a knife everywhere and it’s normal.
    I don’t like carrying knives in my pockets for space.

    I just found your channel. I have always loved knives, since I was a kid, and I’m in my sixties now. I carry my EDC knives in a couple ways. Most of the ones I EDC I carry in a teklok equipped Kydex sheath or simply down in a pocket (if the knife is small enough and has a flat enough sheath. I also like the Muela Colibri knife, and EDC carry those by putting a loop of paracord through the leather loop and then putting a carabiner through the paracord loop, and fasten the carabiner through a belt loop in the front of my pants. It works like a charm, and is easy to take off or put on as the situation requires. Thanks for sharing.

    IWB at the 4 or 8 o’clock with the edge forward works great for a reverse grip draw, plus you get to flex for normal edc tasks by one hand flipping it to a Sabre grip lol. IWB appendix at 11 or 1 o’clock is comfortable with up to a 4” blade and can be drawn with either hand. Like you said carrying a fixed blade can get funny looks is why I IWB but the added strength and lack of moving parts is a major factor for me, I carry a slip joint for “regular” use/tasks and a fixed blade for medium to medium-heavy use. I find myself using the fixed blade more because it’s easier/faster to deploy, the slip joint is “socially acceptable” so a better option in some situations.

      @44Mag 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TUKByV1 Wow. 7"-8" blades are hard to carry I think. (I only go that large when I am hiking or camping)
      Blade length on the Little Bro is about 3" and OAL is about 6.8"
      The blade is very thick (about .2" I think) - and can take a ton of use/abuse though.
      It comes in a kydex sheath and I carry mine in the 12:00 o'clock position. (I just slide my belt buckle about an inch off-center) - I wear my shirt un-tucked, and it conceals very well, with no printing (of course I have an old-man belly that sticks out past my belt, so the shirt hangs freely over it. If someone is skinny or wears tight shirts, this position likely would not work too well)
      I have carried a 5" blade like this with no problems, but I think the only practical way to carry that 7"-8" blade is going to be in a vertical side holster, or perhaps in the small of the back? (Which is not a super good place to carry for obvious reasons.)

  • @Glorfindel_117

    Belt sheath fix: Appendix carry.
    I edc a fixed blade every single day for the last 4 years. I made my own sheath, granted, but any leather sheath with a "sideways" belt loop will do. The knife is attached on the front of your hip, not the side, and the handle faces sideways toward your belly button. This is immeasurably better than a vertical hip carry because it isnt awkward to access, you can access it with both hands from pretty much any position you will ever be in, and because of that the only thing that can prevent you from drawing it is if a rock or a tree or something has fallen on your lower abdomen. You can sheath the knife one-handed without looking with a bit of practice too.
    The only downsides are it's as obvious as a neck knife, and you need a keeper strap so the knife doesnt fall out if you somehow end up in a weird position.

    • @Watchamacallit
      @Watchamacallit 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You're on the right track but you sell your own approach short. The keeper problem can be solved with a kydex sheath, and the concealment problem by covering with your shirt either untucked or "bloused" out over the knife.

    • @Glorfindel_117
      @Glorfindel_117 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Watchamacallit I guess it depends on where you live, but knives are completely legal here, concealed or not. I can walk around with a combat knife on my hip if I wanted to. I do get a fair few weird looks for my appendix carried fixie, but I don't care. It isnt a weapon and I know that, doesnt matter what other people think of it. So it's visibility is only a downside if you care about that, really. But if you arent allowed to wear knives then yeah thats a problem, but you shouldnt be carrying a knife, then. XD

    When I got the Bradford Guardian 3.5 is first started carrying it appendix style but switching to scout seems a bit better for concealment. Funny enough I prefer the 3.5 with the edge up for scout carry since the knife itself is a bit curved. This means I can easily swap between appendix and scout carry without changing anything on the sheath. Best part is that there is more pocket space. Normally my folder sits in my right back pocket but now both back pockets are free and I can sit more comfortably.

    I regularly carry a TOPS C.U.T. 4.0 with the included pull-the-dot biothane loops. I'll use both loops to carry weak-side horizontally at work or just one to carry IWB vertically, as a retention knife. The knife has a clumsy name, but performs very well and edge the comes back easily with stropping. One downside to neck knives is one-handed resheathing. If the retention is strong, as on an Izula, it can be uncomfortable to painful after resheathing a bunch. it's not an action you want to rush, either.

They also offer just the straps to convert any of the kydex sheaths you showed into horizontal carry compatible. I carry mine everyday on the front left of my belt. Works great. Keeps pockets empty, easy access and doesn't interfere at all with other stuff that may get carried on a belt.

    Here are the problems with front pocket fixed blade carry and the one way to fix it. Every sheath you show either rides so low that you can only grab it with two fingers and have to shift it to get a full grip; or rides so high that while you can get a full grip at first try, it's impossible to conceal. Incidentally, even the low riding sheaths leave too much visible to be safe in non-permissive environments like many of us face in cities. There are kydex sheaths (like the ones that come with Tkell knives) that cover only the blade, allowing you to get an immediate full grip with hand in your pocket, but: a) the sheath sits at the bottom of the pocket, too low to use a pocket clip; b) even if the sheath comes with a thumb push so you can pop the knife out, you either wind up with the blade exposed before it leaves your pocket, or you pop the sheath outside your pocket and it lands on the ground. The one way around these issues is to use a sheath that covers only the blade, with a static cord fastened to your belt or nearest belt loop. There's nothing visible except a few inches of cord. You get a full grip, pull the knife with sheath attached, and it pops off within inches of the draw.

Then once the job is completed, it goes back into my pocket. I use bead chain rather than leather or para cord, since the bead chain kind of manages itself. When using para cord, I also loop it through my belt or belt loop which retains the sheath if I pull the knife out from my pocket quickly.

Less irritating when you have to bend over or sit, pretty easy to get out and put back in, some downsides but you get used to it pretty fast. They tend to be basically like the belt carry but IMO more comfortable and easier to forget about.

    Did you adjust your DCC clips? Mine are so tight I can barely clip it to my pocket. I almost need to take my pants off to unclip. Your clip looks like there is a little space under that fabric tang. My clips have zero space. THANKS for this video!

    Oh, do I have a sheath for you. I carried a fixed blade Becker BK16 over 3 years straight, and unless I took it out to use it, nobody knew. It was quick to get out and easy to get in when I got familiar with it.

    There are a couple other options i know of that work,... one is in pocket with paracord from kydex hole to belt, and another is just kydex sheath loose in pocket like i've done with the benchmade anonimus for the past 6 months

    Kydex is the way to go because you can buy cheap plastic pocket clips that you can angle on your sheath just right. The handle and sheath is completely hidden in my pocket and it’s just the pocket clip that shows. Having said that, you can’t carry like that in public here in Australia or you would be charged with having a knife and concealed carry.

    The retention of an an ulti clip is awsome ,but I won’t use them because of the sharp edges , It scratches my hand while walking and is super annoying ,I’ve also put scratches in the paint work in my car why they Can’t chamfer the edges??

    Neck knives are one of my favorite ways to carry.
    One HUGE issue is if you have little kids. Picking them up. If the retention isn't strong enough it can fall out. Which isn't good obviously

    I carry a mora Garberg in horizontal position in the small of my back anytime I'm working everyday. I didn't think id like it but I use it everyday and feel naked without it. Ill add that I always work in overalls and I always tuck my shirt in so I'm never fighting a shirt or jacket for access to it. I always also have a folder in an opposite pocket to the side with which the garberg draws. Garberg draws right folder draws left. (I'm a machinist, I've seen people pulled into machines. right sleeve gets caught left hand can cut me free and vice versa.) Besides my 940 is too great to leave at home!
