The real mystery is why does no one give the dragonborn the respect he/she deserves. I mean the dragonborn is the leader of like 4 factions, kills dragons and eats their souls, is thane of every hold, kills Alduin, and still gets mocked by the guards with that " let me guess, someone stole your sweet roll" bit.

@@theozlander4629 Nazeem is easy: you get Gloves of the Pugilist, either use them or the enchantment depending on your level in Enchanting, punch Nazeem nearly dead, then pay your fine to the guards and he'll actually start to mention the humiliation you gave him by beating his ass bare-handed.

uncle filthy I expect something a little less wholesome. I like to think the god of war wants to go to Sovengarde to seek the toughest nord warriors to have ever lived and beat them all into submission. Having gained superiority over Sovengarde’s honored warriors, he continues on to find even more skilled fighters (daedra or even aedra) until he either becomes the greatest warrior of all time or finds an equal or is bettered by someone else. (technically the Dragonborn bests him, but I like to think he pulled his punches because he knew no one else in Skyrim would even stand a chance of giving him a good fight)
If he's a god, surely he could just go there by himself? Why would he need to die in order to get there?
I always thought the ebony warrior was a personification of a player. Someone who has beaten the game and has op gear and stats and just wants a satisfying conclusion to the game.
Yet he doesn't have any daedric armors or weapons

That was my original thought, but I'm thinking he might actually be Shor. Think about it. Shor is missing from Sovngarde, he's a God, so he could possess any species, he would absolutely be OP, and he wants to eventually go back to his realm.

The fact that my first ever character was a Red Guard and I only found out about the Ebony Warrior until my most recent character (Lvl 52 so far) makes me somehow both nostalgic and fan-fictionish. For me, it would be like meeting my first ever creation... and end it once and for all

One Unsettling mystery I encountered:
Why Nazeem always know that I don't visit Cloud District very often?

Doesn't matter how much I've gone there he always turn his nose up, and you don't want to have attitude contest with Dragonborn
Well when you consider how little there is to do in the cloud district it makes sense why you wouldn't go to the cloud district. Nazeem just doesn't get out much.

My most recent playthrough is all-magic, so I naturally went to Winterhold ASAP (level two) and joined the College. Not long after, some thugs appeared, hired by Arniel because I stole some of his stuff. Of course, I then made it a point to complete his quest in the interest of petty revenge. Now he's my summon. Was it really worth it, Arniel? You could have just bought some replacement soul gems, you know.
The most horrific mystery is why you can’t marry Serana

I might have just missed it, but I think you forgot to address the theory that the Ebony Warrior is the Forgotten Hero from the Story Mode or that he himself is a Dragonborn, and therefore eligible for Sovngarde.

I've always wanted to know Rune's story from the Thieves' Guild. Apparently, there was something intended, but never finished.
i think the Ebony Warrior is a philosophical think that bethesta put there, since at lv 81 the player itself probably beated pretty much everything there was to beat, so the Ebony Warrior would be the player itself. Maybe he is something inside the dragonborn's mind?

there was an ebony warrior in morrowind....in tribunal you piss off a bosmer and he comes back all in enchanted ebony armor and tries to beat you in front of the temple in mournhold. then there's the Umbras who usually had ebony on as well.

You're right because you can't fight legendary dragons until level 80 so by the time you reached 81 you should have beaten everything in the game.
If you think about it. The grey beards.did say they called a dragonborn. Meaning there are more than one. So that could mean that the Ebony Warrior is a Dragonborn and wishes to go to Sovengard to be with the other dovakin.

I always personally thought the Keepers were at least, in part, a reference to the Nazgul.
Personally I believe the Ebony Warrior is Cyrus from The Elder Scrolls Adventure : Redguard released in 1998. The game takes place 400 years before Arena during Tiber Septim's conquest. In the game you end up slaying a dragon and you are famed for your Ebony armor, while your main enemy in the quest is a Deadric Lord. My theory is is that due to the events that took place in the game Cyrus became immortal due to having a dragon's soul and has been seeking death in order to join his sister in the afterlife. Being alive so long (since pre first era) he has been searching for another dragonborn to finally give him the peace he has longed for so long. This can also be a reson for his height (Redguards could have originally been that tall all those eras ago) as well as his skills (having had literal eons to improve them) and his ability to use shouts.

Not all the souls in the cairn are permanently trapped. There is Arvak and the dragon there, both of which you can summon outside the cairn. Also, at Darklight Tower in the Rift, near Riften, you can encounter a witch named Illia who seeks to stop her mother, another witch, from turning into a hagraven by killing her during her attempt at the transformation.
All souls are trapped there. Arvak and Durnehvir are temporary summons for that reason.
I always take pity on Illia after her quest and give her a purpose as a follower/house steward.
I accidently killed Illia's mother before starting her quest, now I can't finish it. :(

@@Xaveston, it's an unmarked quest that starts when you enter Darklight Tower. You walk in to find her murdering another witch. Wait for her fight to finish and then question her to start the quest. It's fairly linear, tower is full of skeevers, spiders, hags, hagravens, and witches with Illia's mother waiting at the top of the tower. On further note, Illia has some badass spells such as ice spikes and a few other nice ones. Also, checking her mother's corpse after finishing the quest gets you the unique named Staff of Hag's Wrath which causes a fire wall for 10 seconds wherever it's sprayed.
Hagravens are definitely connected to hircine, confirmed in the companion quest line when your tasked to cure the companions of being werewolves

I have discovered something for a ten tiny details video. In the ruins of Forelhost, during the quest of Siege on the Dragon Cult. You can find Children Draugr bodies in the Alchemy Garden. A pretty dark detail.
Just as the Dovahkiin is Ysmir, aspect of Talos, the Ebony Warrior is a piece of Ebonarm, but still a mortal with a mommy, a daddy, a soul... and a grave.
No grave…just a black soul gem.
I've got one; What was Aerin doing in Mzinchaleft? was he following Mjoll? how did he get passed the centurion? And because the gate to the ruin was closed, he must have carried her the entire way back through Mzinchaleft! How?
I have a theory about Aerin that answers a few questions about this character. I think Aerin was once a member of the Dark Brotherhood and Mjoll was his target.
There is plenty of evidence to back this up too, like
1) Aerin having a notable wealth (we can rule out him being part of the Theives Guild, as there is a radiant quest to steal from him). We know that the Dark Brotherhood in Skyrim pays 100 gold per contract. this could explain his wealth without having a paying job.
2) This explains why he was in Mzinchaleft and was able to go without being noticed by Mjoll as she was in there (We can figure that he got there fairly quickly, as Mjoll was still breathing when he got there)
3) this also could answer the question of who the black sacrament in Maven Black-Briar's home belongs to. we know that Maven and Mjoll don't have much of a liking for each other. this could have been Mjoll trying to bring an end to Mjoll meddling in Maven's dealings.
4) It's very obvious that Aerin is in love with Mjoll, and he could have started falling for her when he was stalking her for his kill. this could have been his reason for leaving the Brotherhood, and the reason he always follows her is so that he might be able to keep her safe from any other Brotherhood members, as he knows who they all are. after finding her, he couldn't bring himself to kill her.
5) Aerin must have some sneaking and fighting skills, as Mzinchaleft can prove to be a challenge for even the Dragonborn. so he would need to be more capable than he lets on to be able to find Mjoll, carry her ALL THE WAY BACK and be able to come up with a story to trick Mjoll into coming with him back to Riften.
or it's nothing and I'm just over thinking this, but it's a question that I don't think I've ever heard anyone else ask. You can use this theory in one of your videos if you want to.
Also. I don't have any of the DLC's for Skyrim, but I found a glitch in on a playthrough, where after slaying Alduin and returning to Skyrim, my character had a set of Seeker's eyes appear over her face and will appear when you look at her from certain angles. she still has her head and this doesn't effect fist person mode but I thought I should still mention it :)
I realize that I'm replying to a 9 month old comment but didn't Aerin find Mjoll outside the lift at Mzinchaleft? I recall Mjoll telling the story of how Aerin saved her and iirc she specifically mentioned making it to the lift and out to the road where she collapsed. It's a good theory but it doesn't fit Mjoll's story.

I like the idea of The Ebony Warrior being the physical form of The Yokudan God of War.
Maybe the Ebony warrior is actually an oddly tall redguard whom also read the book about that you mention, and he thinks he may either be the reincarnation of or is pretending to be, said god of war!
If I were to guess, I'd say the Ebony Warrior is a redguard because they have a base +10 One-Handed. That way, he could use a shield and all the benefits that come with it.
The fact that he wants to go to Sovngarde is just Bethesda being Bethesda

Maybe The Ebony Warrior was married to a Nord warrior woman who died in battle, being sent to Sovereignguard, and since those who commit suicide are not permitted into that afterlife realm, he needed somebody ELSE to kill him. This is further compounded by the fact that the Redguards have their own afterlife realm that they go to after they die. Alternatively, perhaps The Ebony Warrior's birth parents had died when he was young, and he was adopted and raised by Nord parents, and would also prefer going to Sovereignguard for this reason. In either case, both of the above hypothesies explain why he would prefer going to Sovereignguard instead of its Redguard equivalent.

All of that, however, irrelevant to why he mispronounces almost everything. I mean, I assume he played the game with sound before he decided to make so many videos based on the game.

There is actually a quest in which you enter a fortress controlled by witches, and a friendly ex-member of the cult requests your help to put a stop to her mother. Her mother is looking to become a hagraven and is ready to finish the ritual but requires only one thing: a sacrifice. Ultimately you put a stop to that by acting as bait.
Tim Ferguson what’s the dungeon called? In all my time playing the game I’ve never done that quest
Darklight Tower. You can see it from the road between Ivarstead and Riften as a very tall tower. You can gain a follower there, Illia, but she has a bug that once you release her after having her as a follower the first time, she won't have an option to follow again. She is a very strong mage, so she is good to have along if you need or just desire a howitzer for a follower.
At the top of the tower there is also a path that takes you to a Dwemer shrine with a wispmother. Short of climbing the mountains themselves, that tower is the only way to that location, which suggests that Darklight Tower has a very interesting history. You can see Largashbur from up there, and if the timing is right, can watch a giant attack that orc stronghold from up high.

I find it possible the ebony warrior may be a past dragonborn that's come out of hiding, or maybe a character we played as before, or most likely he's somebody we once knew from a past Elder Scrolls

I wanna know this: Why are there no Male Hagravens??
Hag-ravens are transformed witches and thus wouldn't require a male counterpart to create more hag-ravens.
Not going to rule out the possibility of a male counterpart in some future game, but if that transformation ritual is something only witches can use then your answer might very well be that.
Girls can also be wizards as well as males being capable of being witches.

Could the Ebony Warrior just be somebody who has mantled Ebon-Arm, the way Talos did to Lorkhan and the way our Dragonborn is (probably) an avatar of Lorkhan/Talos as well? It would explain the discrepancies with the description. Though the whole desire to go to Sovngarde would still need a bit of clarifying.

I think the Ebony Warrior is the hero of another story, a TES protagonist we have never seen but whose life has followed all the rules of that lifestyle. Hence also why he's nameless.
Regarding the note to Mercer, there is one man in the prison who does not become hostile if you kill the Forsworn inside. He even says that he's been imprisoned 3 times previously. First for 6 months, then a year, then 2 years, and now he's doing life in prison. He doesn't say how long he's been here since his last sentencing.
Couple that with the fact the letter says to avoid the Forsworn element, and I think you can see exactly who the prisoner in the note is.
Its also worth noting that he's serving time for (you guessed it) theft.
My guess is he's a very sloppy criminal in the employ of someone who really likes him; maybe family? Why else go through the trouble of helping someone who repeatedly gets caught?

I always thought hagravens were witches that fed on human(iod) flesh. There's a lot of old folklore where cannibalism triggers a curse to become a beast. Wendigo has been popular again lately. Hircine strikes me as the type to encourage it and crows tend to be shrouded in death throughout folklore too. They also have cannibalistic tendencies.

Hey it's not only a Redguard, it can be any character class. I've had a dark elf, and an imperial that I remember attack me as the ebony warrior as well.
The Ebony Warrior is truly a worthy adversary for the Dragonborn. The battle on the mountain with him was definitely one of my hardest ever fought in the game, best to the battle with Alduin and my first ever Legendary dragon encounter. I couldn’t defeat any of those opponents without at least two others to back me up, and a ton of spells to keep us in the fight.
I just purchased Skyrim for the 3rd time this past week ( I didn't have it on my PS4). It's the gift that just keeps on giving.
I think despite being a redguard, the Ebony Warrior my have some Nord ancestors hence the desire to go to sovengard.

Kyne did not teach the Voice to the Ancient Nords. Paarthurnax was SUPPOSEDLY instructed by Kyne to teach the first "Tongues" (Gormlaith, Felldir, Hakon,) the Thu'um during the Dragon War. The part about Kyne is AFAIK only mentioned by the Greybeards who worship Kyne, so I think its probably an invention by them.
The reason why Draugr are able to use shouts is because they are the bodies/souls of Ancient Nords preserved. Back in the days following the Dragon war, many Nord warriors learned the Voice, up until the Nordic invasion of Morrowind that failed and Jurgen Windcaller founded the Greybeards.
A dragonborn can wield and learn shouts so easily because they have the soul of a dragon, they have an innate gift. (Side Theory: The ancient Tongues of old had to be gagged and muted because even though they had powerful voices, they were still mortal and could not control their power as fluently as dragons. )
The reason why I think the Red Eagle and Dragon Cultists can shout is probably because Bethesda didn't want to make a whole new class of enemies just for Forelhost or for the Red Eagle. They had a release date to follow and canonically I don't think either should be able to shout.
Also I believe hagravens use a sacrificial ritual, involving spriggans and bird feathers

Hey Nate in the when you do the dark brotherhood quest where Astrid takes you to the abandoned shack and tells you to kill one of the three people you can use clarovince to find the real target the Khajit
That's not true. Clairvoyance reveals a target selected by random just like the wikia says. A TH-camr named shelled walnut
even posted a video about it where it points to Alea Quintus.
*EDIT:* Clairvoyance is related to quest objectives in the Creation Kit and each NPC is a target because whomever you kill leads you to the next objective.
