Love the camera comparisons. I was expecting the iPhone to best them all. But was surprised that the Pixel impressed me the most, with the Xperia 5 IV coming in second. Another observation is how good all the phone cameras were. Thanks for the video.

Love seeing you explore a new place and a lovey cameo from the man Juan. The phone is letting Sony down a little sadly and I can’t believe how they’re cameras are performing even at the high end, when they are the market leading camera and lense maker. Difference in computational photography is so plain to see right here.
I have a question, have you seen a move where from opinions in tech you tube? I feel that everyone is leaving the viewer to make up their mind after presenting all the evidence. Which makes sense, opinions are usually controversial in this space and no business really wants controversy, but, you’re using all these phones, I wouldn’t mind hearing YOUR opinion on some areas. We do value opinions but I understand it’s the finest of balances.
Looking forward to the next video as always!

Needless to insist: sony's approach in the world of photography is different, more influenced by its alpha sector that sees the user prevail over the software. I can understand that it is convenient to point and shoot but with tools like photo pro it is not so easy to make good images. Personally I always shoot in jpeg + raw.

Great review - Used Xperias for a long time (Z2, C4, XZ, XZ2, and finally the first version of the 5). I think I've slowly come around to the fact that Sony has shifted their offerings to satisfy a niche customer base that I'm not really a part of anymore, which is kind of a bummer. I can get by with a mid-range Motorola with a massive battery and average camera compared to what I paid for my 5, which had remarkably disappointing cameras (a non-focusing telephoto for one), below average battery life, and cell reception, which was an issue on all of my Xperias. I also had to retire my XZ2 due to them not getting it certified for VoLTE which was pretty annoying and forced my hand into buying the 5 without doing more research on it first.

Someday Sony will do that...but their focus is on the Sony Alpha cameras, the real cameras, if they have the best cameras on phones right now it will cannibalize their camera sales. They still need to beat Canon and Nikon completely, but they're already ahead with the Xperia when someday they will decide to dominate it and put all Sony Alpha resources to it.

Sony phones to me are like the Kodak phones from years ago. Remember those? Those who make cameras taking stabs into the phone market but fail to understand. Since a phone just isn't a camera, that's where the problems start. Their operation system isn't all that fun and feels clunky at times. Where are the more cool touches to their operating system? Their cameras on the phone are real good don't get me wrong but competition in the android ecosystem is so strong. So people aren't so willing to drop 1K when they can get similar or better performance at $400 or less. Catering to photographers is tough because chances are high, they have thousand dollar cameras that are way better anyways. So these sony phones end up being put on the self for most. Photographers have better options and the regular crowd prefers iPhone or Samsung/etc just my thoughts.

Sony uses their 12MP sensors that are compatible with 20 fps with AF and AE. That is not possible for those large 50 to 100MP sensors as they need to down sample to 12 MP for output.

You can attend as general public. Just reserve a daily ticket for 13-17€ and spend the whole day (8-18h) walking around and visiting all the companies stands or for some, buildings, since big companies like Sony or Samsung need a whole building the size of a department store inside the fair. The place is so big that sometimes you need to take the internal bus to go from one to other company. I recommend at least 2 days to see everything without hurrying.

God Bless you for talking about that camera! I was heavily disappointing about the move to ditch the variable optic on the telephoto cam. My heart literary sank. And yes, you would think that with all the expertise with making all them sensors they would do SOMETHING with that sensor, I mean they used to have 24mp sensors, and SD 8 Gen 1 can support like 30+ MP triple camera, why not make use of such!!
And not to mention their poor, really poor auto mode, its a 1000dollar machine like wth!!
I really love them but these moves they make just make me feel disappointed, or maybe I had too much hope in them doing something nice this year. Now the 14s look like a really great deal with that 48mp

These reviews rarely get a like from me , mainly , because they are reviewed by a reviewer that primarily uses an iPhone and that's their preferred daily device and the criteria they have as a good smartphone is different to that of an Android user. Otherwise their preferred device would be an Android with Android OS. What they think is better is at times much different than what I see as a superior device and software. If they have a completely different point of view, I don't see the point he has as being relevant to my opinions . He doesn't daily drive this gear and is actually on the outside looking in for what's important to me. No thanks 👎

Give us some numbers pls. How long can it run 4K/120FPS before overheating and how long with 2K/240FPS?

I'm curious to know if the 5 iv doesn't have bloatware apps, or at least they can be deleted !! Facebook, LinkedIn, Dropbox are already installed in the phone, I bet if they can be removed and not "disabled" !!

We need to stop this narrative that the 1" sensor is the best sensor.
It is bigger but isn't better. That sensor no just drains the battery unnecessarily, but is way slower and is a quad-bayer sensor.
Better lowlight performance but Sony will have to drop RealTime Eye AF, 20fps burts, HDR Burst and it will produce a lot of heat.
